Great topic! At 3.8 years out I eat small meals - balanced. Some carbs but mostly veggies and fish I do eat really really good chocolate and drink a glass of wine 1 to 2 times a week. I stayed in my 5 lb window until an extended arm lift a month ago and now I am up 9 lbs so until it is back Down more traditional sleeve diet and no wine... Agree exercise is key for me too.

Skin removal before losing my insurance. When did y’all consider it?
Stella S replied to Kristin84's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Go to your follow up!! Stay under care of a MD. I switched to my internist at 6 months but I echo get lab work. I had LBL and BL plus some work on outer thigh and a bit of fat transfer to plump up my bum after 1.8 years after sleeve. Just had extended arm lift abou 3.5 years after sleeve and will have my inner thighs completed in March. I have depleted my sick leave!!! Insurance has covered nothing but lab work and prescriptions. I was private pay for sleeve as well. Worth every dime. I hit my goal weight at 10 months with a loss of 100 lbs. -
My PS would not do breasts and arms together as Kim noted. Skin is pulling in opposite directions. That said many PS combine them.

Is this price outrageous? (NYC!)
Stella S replied to TheFormerFatGirl's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Yikes! I also used top doc and A rated hospital - 25 K for lower body with outer thigh plus a bit of bum work and breasts surgery 2 a separate 9 k for inner thighs and surgery 3 9 k for arm with side and back of torso. I had mine done in a high cost area but would not rule out 1 or 2 hours away. - CT or NJ. Even Long Island Get a few quotes whatever you do then go with what you are comfortable. -

Surgeon says go ahead.. do I take the bite? Or wait?
Stella S replied to BrandiceLeSha's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Is there a question here? We change our clothes to fit - why not the skin? If you want the PS - do it! -
You have this - breath. If you can handle and infant and teenager graduate school will be fine and the sleeve will be just part of a larger transformation. Sometimes structure makes change a little easier you are spot on there is never a good time - The time is now. [emoji38]

What order should the plastics be done?
Stella S replied to GotProlactinoma's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
With you on the thighs - I had breasts tum rear and outer thighs done together I am doing the arms separate as that skin Pulls in a different direction. The inner thighs also will be done separate that skin pulls pulls opposite from the stomach. Pick your surgeon and they know this process. Best -
Agreed - a touch of self compassion goes a long way. Focus on water intake - that is what seems to be my first battle.

Do you still identify as a wls patient?
Stella S replied to Healthy_life2's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
A little bit of what each person has said for me - I have not seen my surgical team into and a half years I don’t identify as a patient - I am a person who needs to be aware of what I consume and how much energy I am spending - I was overweight for half my life yeah it’s a thing I imagine and always Wellby - it impacts how I approach food exercise and health. Like each of you I am so much more than my weight - I am an instructor, a author, a therapist, daughter, a mother a wife and with regular frequency I am even a lover. There is a great Ted talk called the danger of a solo story. We are all here because of WLS but we are complex vibrant persons Who have fought and fought hard to live life fully -
I do not understand 'no restriction left"
Stella S replied to sharonintx's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
Agreed. I can eat more and have to always stay on top of it. Which is very boring I get tired of staying on top of it. I have just learned a lot as I too never understood losing the restriction. I I noticed I do not have the same support in my community as I did 3+ years ago as though I have received an exorcism of sorts. -
Normal not be under 200 pounds 8 months post op?
Stella S replied to Darrie97's topic in Fitness & Exercise
You are losing 11 lbs a month. How long since the scale moved. Also what about body measurements. You are doing great. I must track all food and exercise. [emoji5]. Keep us updated. -

A new year. New goals. 2017 I maintained a active life. Now I am planning on the same plus biking my first century and upping my run from a 5 K in 26 minutes to a 10 k in - who knows? What about you? Inspire me with what you have achieved and where you will find wins in 2018.

Almonds - string cheese - I wonder why that stuff never goes bad - protien bar of course. Keep nonfat yogurt or a bean salad in your room. I ask hotels do a fridge for medical concernsand then have groceries delivered veggies and hummus as well. Tuna or chicken salad on sliced cucumber is a good in room option as well. Enjoy the magical kingdom.
