Hair falling out/ loose skin?
#1Coltsfan replied to Brookea83's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I bought Nioxin shampoo from Amazon. It helps keep you from loosing your hair or will slow it down if you already are. There are four different types. I use system 2. You can get two large bottles for $38 through Amazon! It's amazing. With Nioxin and Biotin I haven't had any hair loss. Good luck -

I had a severe reaction to the glue they used to close my incisions and that made my belly break out and really itchy. If you have redness around your incisions call you dr. My dr told me to get children's liquid Benadryl and take that for the itching. I also notice the more my inductions heal the more they itch. Hope this helps!

Things you wish someone had told you?

I took Chapstick (which is really important since you can't drink anything the day of surgery. Your lips get really dry!) I also took my phone, charger, house shoes, robe, toothbrush, tooth paste, hair brush, gas x strips, listerine strips, headphones, extra underclothes, sweats, baggy shirt, bathroom spray (after surgery your urine and stool smell really really bad), my favorite blanket, and one of my soft fluffy pillows. The hospital beds are horrible especially for me since I have chronic back pain so taking my own pillow and blanket help. Hope this helps. Good luck! -

Four days until surgery and I'm a bundle of nerves!
#1Coltsfan posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I started this journey six months ago it seemed so far away. But now I'm 4 days from my surgery and I'm super excited and a bundle of nerves all at the same time. Yesterday I filled out all my paperwork at the hospital to pre register and found out that I will be having a hernia repair during my bypass. Has anyone had this done? I think this is one of the reasons I'm so nervous. My starting weight was 291lbs and my last visit with the doctor I was 270lbs. My husband and I have already begun to talk about me getting a mommy makeover after I lose the weight. My goal is to get down to 140-150lbs. I'm 5'5 and I just want to get down to a healthy BMI! Any advice or encouragement would be great. -
10 days away from the beginning of my new life????????!

I can't believe my 6 month waiting period is over. Im glad I had that time preparing myself for gastric bypass but also the time I had with the dietitian helped me. I'm just got the approval from Blue Shield and my surgery is on the 23rd of Feb. I have such mixed emotions. I'm super excited to get healthy and lose the 100plus pounds I need to lose but I'm also scared and nervous. I started my journey at 292lbs and now 10 days from surgery I'm 268lbs. My goal is to get to 140lbs. I am a huge cola drinker so that's one of my biggest worries. I get severe headaches without caffeine and no soda is gonna definitely be a challenge. I decided after my 3rd failed back surgery that I needed to try something else. I have chronic back and leg pain along with fibromyagia. I'm hoping that as I lose the weight it will help with the pain. I have read so many stories on here that have been so motivating and encouraging to me. I hope that everything goes as planned and that the pain afterwards isn't to bad. Any information about your weight lose and your post op pain would be helpful. Also would love to hear about what everyone used during the liquid diet part of the process. Hope everyone is doing well and reaching their goals. -

Your story is so encouraging to me. I started my journey at 291 and no after my 6 month waiting period I'm 269lbs going into surgery on Feb 23rd. I suffer from Fibromyagia also and have Chronic back and leg pain. I decided after my 3rd failed back surgery that I was gonna do WLS. I'm so excited and nervous for my Gastric Bypass surgery but your story gives me hope. I want to not have to take Meds for the rest of my life and WLS seems to be something that can help that. Best of luck as you continue your journey. -

I ordered resistance bands through Amazon to help with strengthen exercise. They were not that expensive and you can use them at home. -
