On Monday, January 19, 2015, my friend @efierke underwent a VSG operation and he & I started talking about how he was doing post-op and the idea of my restarting the process that I had begun many times to get WLS myself. I say restarting as I had first started the process at UPMC St. Margaret Hospital back in July 2007, and restarted one or two times between then and now.

On Saturday, January 24, 2015 I went to the UPMC website and started researching Bariatric Surgery options, and other weight loss supports that might be available to me. (I have UPMC insurance through Medicare.) This included watching the 45 minute Information Session on-line, printing out the Initial Evaluation Form, filling it out, and faxing it back.

On Thursday, January 29, 2015, I got a call from Dr. Carol A. McCloskey's office at UPMC Magee Hospital to schedule the first of five required pre-surgical classes for Monday, February 23, 2015, and an initial consult with Dr. McCloskey for the following day, Tuesday, February 24, 2015. According to the person I spoke with my five classes should run February through June.

I have also scheduled an appointment for Sunday, February 1, 2015, with the nutritionist I saw back in 2013 that I had quite a bit of success with until I stopped seeing her; the Bariatric Support Group at UPMC Magee for Wednesday, February 11; and a series of 12 weekly Healthy Lifestyle classes beginning on Tuesday, February 24, 2015. I am also committing to attend at least 6 OA meetings and have signed up for the UPMC Body Changers program. (Body Changers doesn't have their February 2015 schedule out yet.) A busy month to be sure, but a solid foundation to build on!
