    Where did my hunger go?

@@wannaBthinsoon I was sleeved on April 24 th 2015. I have lost only 25 pounds since the morning I came home from the hospital. (200# to 175#). Can I ask, how much have you lost since you actually had the surgery? Thanks, Lynne.
  4. I would like to add something I think that my surgeon and others don't take into consideration enough. There was no individualization of care planning We are all just "Sleeves". I am sure that part of my lack of results from my surgery is my age. At 57 my metabolism, with all my comorbids has only been negatively effected by major surgery. As a RN I should have known this would be the case. A 30 year old body is going to react differently to stressors. So not everyone is going to have a great sucess story. I just wish my surgeon had been honest with me instead of saying all his his patients lose 30 pounds in the first month.
  5. 80 -90 grams of protein from lean meat and protein shakes. 8cups of water per day. No more than 800 to 900 calories a day. Low sodium, low carb for rest of diet that is not protein. Workout 1 hour per day in pool 6 days per week.Track every calorie and nutrient on my Ipad app.
  6. No, it isn't normal for me. My highest weight was 262, I was 245 on Jan 25 of this year . I was 200 pounds the day I came home from surgery. I lost those 62 pounds on my own with a healthy diet and exercise. I had the sleeve because I wanted to continue to lose and not gain it back and because of my many health problems. Instead my metabolism seems to be completely changed. My surgeon and nutritionist have nothing to offer. I am in the regret phase.
  7. I've only lost 16 pounds in 3 months.

    Eating to much

In the first 3 months my surgeon told me I had to follow the plan carefully so as to avoud a leak.
  9. April 24th Sleever and having the opposite experience. Only a net loss of 16 pounds. Actually gained 4 back this month. Staying on strict diet, exercising 1 hour per day. Having all kinds of pain. Surgeon has performed MRI and XRAYS, see him this Thursday.
  10. Liquid diet was hell. WLS was fine after liquid stage and getting more food.
  11. Funny how medications effect everyone differently. I take 200 mg of Topamax twice a day and Maxalt together and haven't had any interaction problems but lost zero weight.
  12. i used to go to a pain clinic where I received epidural injections in my lumbar spine and sacrum. I wore a morphine patch as well as took Lortab,Lyrica and Soma by mouth. i did exactly what you want to do and weaned myself off all of ot and prior to surgery was taking Tylenol 1000 mg 3 times a day. Not as needed Every day. I always need it. I also take Zanafex 4 mg at bedtime and as needed throughout the day. I take Requip for involuntary movements and Topamax for neuropathy and migraines. When I had surgery the MD gave me liquid Percocet which I used for 2 weeks. It constipated me so bad I stopped using it. My pain level is so luch worse since surgery that I am going to go to an orthopaedist.

Ok. WTF am I doing wrong?

@@thecakewasalie If your blood pressure medication was a diuretic then you may be retaining fluid.

Ok. WTF am I doing wrong?

I have really bad GERD. I take omeprazole 40 mg twice a day. That's a lot but you can get it over the counter as Prilosec and take 20 mg a day. If that does't help get an MD to prescribe 40 mg a day.
  15. That's a toughy. I am in more pain since my surgery. It has exacerbated all my problems. my arthritis is much worse. I can't exercise. I can only stand for short oeriods of time and walk short distances without a walker. Prior to surgery I worked out at the gym for an hour each day with light weights and walked on the treadmill for 30 minutes at 3.5 setting. I have severe upper back and coccyx pain immediately upon dicharge which worsens daily. Considering the pain I also felt from the surgery itself I'm not sure what I would advise even though I am a retired RN.

    fluids make me feel sick

@crazyfroglady@momfromjersey22 I have the same problem. Food doesn't bother but liquids make me very nauseated.

Ok. WTF am I doing wrong?

Did the Dr. by any chance discontinue any if your medications? mine discontinued my Metformin and my HCTZ and stool softeners. When he discharged me from the hospital . I wasn't losing at all until I called him and asked to be put back on all my pre-op meds.
  18. only 8 weeks out and agree with everything you have said.

HUNGER - is it really reduced?

2 months out and my hunger isn't reduced at all. Also I like /crave the same foods as prior to surgery but luckily I can only fit 8 ounces at a time. Was surprised my pouch held so much. Not really happy with my surgery choice since I was losing weight on my own at a much faster rate. However I had the surgery to insure I would keep the weight off which has been the case. Also my arthritis and GERD are much worse since the surgery. All my physical problems are worse not better.
  20. I'm 6 1/2 weeks out and have only lost 14 pounds but am seeing the difference everywhere except in my waist measurements. This is unusual for me. Shouldn't post op swelling be gone by now?
  21. Just having been a nurse for 2 years is enough to get someone depressed!! No kidding - I retired 3 years ago - I'm 57 and the stress of being an RN just about killed me. I was the RN night house manager of a 200 bed state mental hospital and worked step down agency as well. I did staff development for many years also. Now add this surgery and all your other responsibilities and it is VERY hard. You take care of people for a living - families who are many times very hard to deal with any your hormones are all out of whack. Also I find you must go through all the stages of grief for your old life - you are in anger. It's not all wonderful after surgery as some would have you believe but maintaining weight was my goal and I have to keep reminding myself that. Don't be afraid to get on antidepressant therapy and see a psychiatrist if you aten't already. Almost every nurse I ever worked with was on some sort of antidepressant even if they kept it private. Nursing is SUPER STRESSFUL even without a gastric sleeve recovery. Why do you think there is such a massive RNP?

    Help

I am 6 1/2 weeks out and have only lost 14 pounds. Same as you getting all protein and water - no cheating. Hungry and can consume 8 ounces before fullness feeling.
  23. I have severe Migraines with Aura which leans that they are so bad that I actually lose sight in my right eye and/or black out. My MRI shows damage simular to stroke from these migraines. Conseauently I take Topiramate 400 mg daily. It also helps with my neuropathy. Unfortunately it doesn't curb my appetite at all. It does make DIET soft drinks taste weird but not regular full sugar ones. No help there. If your insurance doesn't cover it and you live near any Winn Dixie grocery stores their pharmacy program is incredible. Almost every generic drug is either $4 or 10 with or without insurance and most common antibiotics are free. Even if you have insurance.
  24. Let me know how you do.
  25. Yes, I have been having the depression too. It would be less if I had lost 36 pounds since surgery! I had my surgery April 24th and am down 14 pounds. I am still hungry and my tastes for food haven't changed. Obviously I can only fit much smaller amounts but suprisingly at 6 1/2 weeks out I can drink 8 ounces at a time with no problem so getting my fluids is all of a sudden no challenge. Of course since I can fit the same amount of food I find I have to watch every calorie again just 6 weeks out. Luckily I had already developed good eating habits and lost close to 50 pounds prior to surgery. But everything about my surgery has left me depressed.
