Need Suggestions on Fundraisers for Foster animals
trish5713 replied to crazey4catz74's topic in The Lounge
raffles are always good. try asking local businesses to donate gift cards or items and ask if you can sell the raffle tickets at their store. you could also try a dog wash, like a car wash only with dogs instead. i've done that and it's fun. good luck! -
i've never been a jessica simpson fan but i hope she's on the sidelines on sunday:p

you guys are so lucky! i've gotta wait till july to get banded because of the 6 month diet my insurance requires. i can't wait to get banded, i don't want to spend my 20s like i spent my teens, fat. are you guys excited, nervous, both (exervous?)?
-
hey everyone! well as far as hobbies i'm not sure if i have any. i try to paint when i can and i like to read alot, mostly nonfiction and never "chicklit." ditto for "chick flicks" although i do love movies. my faves are probably the sandlot, star wars (the original ones), newsies, and american psycho (those are today's favorites, tomorrow's could be different). i like tv, seinfeld, freaks and geeks, and arrested development are my all time favorite shows. ummm i have dogs so i like walking them, throwing sticks around and stuff. i've got some reptiles too so they're fun to hang out with. not really into playing but still nice want so bad: what kinds of horses do you have? i worked with two thoroughbreds this summer in school and they were so awsome. they had the cutest personalities edit: oh also i love love love football! i pretty much live for sundays. i'm super excited cause my giants actually won a post season game last weekend and now they're gonna get to kick the cowboys' asses this week:whoo:

hey everyone! my name is trish and i'm 20 years old. i'm in my last semester of college to become a certified veterinary nurse/technician. i'm not banded yet but i will be in july hopefully. ummm i live in the poconos in pa and it's basically a barren wasteland of tourists (i'll never understand that one). umm, i'm single, no children. i like.....stuff. so....hi!
-
technically there is no difference, it's just a name most of us prefer. technician implies working on non-living things while nursing is what we do. many organizations over the past few years have tried to change the name legaly but human nurses think that it's disrespectful to them or something crazy. so yeah, same thing, but hopefully vet tech will become an outdated phrase soon. sorry to ramble on:p

does anyone know if cigna covers fills?
-
so i've got cigna too and no obesity related illnesses. i talked to them the other day and there was no mention of being too healthy. eek! they only said i needed the 6 month diet and all the evaluations (psych, nutritionish, etc). is this a common thing?

really any kind of white fish isn't too fishy to me. i like tilapia, flounder, halibut, and grouper. it also depends on how you cook it. you could try grilling it (with a piece of foil on the grill so the fish doesn't fall apart) with the mrs. dash chicken grilling mix. it's mm mm good. tuna steaks are also really good but can be fishy if not cooked properly (in my experience anyway) but they're really really good otherwise (my fave food). do scallops count? they've got a mild, sweet taste. swordfish always seems really fishy to me so you might want to avoid it.

i'm glad we have our own little corner now. i was starting to think i might be the only young'n here!

while i'm not sure if i agree with chipping everyone, i might MIGHT consider getting one to store medical info. i'm severely allergic to iodine and worry about getting in an accident or something and the medics and mds using it. i can't wear a bracelet because of my job so a chip would be an ok thing. but i don't think i'd do it since we don't have alot of info on long term effects in humans. recently i read an article about chips causing cancerous growths in pets. so until they find a way to stop the growth of...growths i'll be remaining chip free.

hey everyone! so i'm on my way to bandland now. i'm enrolled in the 6 month diet/education program that my surgeon requires and have my first appointment with the bariatrician the 16th (monthly visits required). my question is, should i be talking to my pcp about this? cause right now she has nooooo idea. i would go talk to her about it but she no longer takes my insurance and i don't know if it's really necessary to pay her out of pocket just to tell her. but should i?

Cigna Insurance: 6 month supervised diet
trish5713 replied to ShellShock's topic in Insurance & Financing
i also have cigna and did jenny craig before starting this band business. they didn't count it. also they won't cover any doctor supervised weight loss program which pissed me off big time... -
thanks! yeah, i am now more certain than ever that this is right for me. i'm sooooo excited! so far my insurance is saying that they will pay 100% as long as i do the program the hosptial requires. i was really really surprised. so i've got my first appointment with the bariatrician a week from wednesday. yay!

ok i know that this is bad bad bad but lately i've been in the mindset that this is my last christmas as a fat girl and i should eat EVERYTHING. like seriously, everything. and it seems like there's waaaay more stuff to eat this year. cookies, candy, fudge, craziness. i keep telling myself that i'm just getting it all out of my system before i start "the path to band-dom" in january. i know what i'm doing is well, something i shouldn't be doing. anyone else do this?
-
i love disney world! i've been 4 times and can't wait to get back. right now we're planning on going down next november or december. i should be banded by then and am hoping to be able to jog around the EPCOT jogging trail (think that's what it's called) that goes around the EPCOT resorts. quite ambitious of me, i know. what's everyone's favorite wdw memory? mine would have to be when i was 4 and my brother was 11 months. we were waiting to go into a character breakfast and he started crying. suddenly eeyore appeared and tried to cheer him up by dancing around and stuff. when that didn't work he took a bottle out of the diaper bag and fed my brother. eeyore kneeled on the ground holding the bottle for him and rubbing his head. tigger came over too and the two of them played with my brother, tickling him and hopping around while he had his bottle. we've got it on video and it's one of the nicest, cutest things i've ever seen.

Birth Control Pills. Need some feedback
trish5713 replied to Iluvcarbs's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
hey iluvcarbs! i've been one "the pill" since i was 16 after having an ovary removed because i had a big ol tumor on it and then having really bad periods after that. i was scared to go on the pill since i've only got the one ovary and didn't want to have any fertility problems in the future. i was on about 3 different brands before going on Yasmin. everything else was making me feel sick but i've had no side effects with Yasmin. some friends of mine also use it and they haven't had any weight gain from it or other side effects. i think the most important thing is to work with your md and just know that the first thing you try might not be right for you but you'll find one that is a good fit. :rose: -
that's exactly how i feel! like "i don't care if i gain a few pounds. i'm starting my dr. diet next month anyway." but once i'm done eating i regret it. not too much. but enough.

Good Stores for Transitioning from Plus to Regular
trish5713 replied to lindata's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
i'd have to second HeatherA's suggestion of steve and barry's. if you have one near you or even not so near you it's deffinately worth the trip! i went for the first time last weekend and i'm in love with this store. i got two pairs of jeans from the bitten line by sarah jessica parker and they are awsome! her line is size 2-24 i believe. there are like 500 different types of jeans, way more than i've ever seen at old navy. and nothing is over $20! i've never spent so little on jeans ever, especially larger sizes. it's pretty much the best store ever -
thanks so much for all the info! yeah, i don't mind driving a few hours but it would be nice to not have to. thanks again!

breathing/endotracheal tubes are placed after you're asleep because the gag and cough reflexes are mostly gone by then. i've had a few surgeries and all i've every had was a sore throat. some ice chips usually do the trick though.
-
soooooo cute! i love boxers! they make the funniest faces. not to sound odd or anything, but is he/she deaf? nearly every white boxer i've come across has been, that's why i ask. sorry if that's rude, just curious:confused:
-
hey everyone! has anyone moved after being banded? did you have problems finding an md to do your fills? i'm in pa now but in about 2 years i hope to be in nc. i'm worried i won't be able to find a filler-upper. thanks
