I just did the revision February 1. And have had no Gerd since then. I'm in Oregon also. It is the best decision I've made. I've heard minimal about the linx, but my surgeon doesn't offer it. The recovery time from rny was less than half of the sleeve.

What insurance do you have? What tests did they run? My doctor did an endoscope, upper gi and ultra sound. Once those results came back she sent in for approval while waiting she ran a 24 hr ph test to have in case they denied it. But they approved it right away for a quality of life issue.

Calling all February 1st Sleevers!

You are so lucky. A lot of stuff they gave me orally. And I say liquid Prilosec tasted like dead fish. It was horrible. I got blood thinner injections in the hospital along with medicine to help cut nerves. I ended up in the ear yesterday because of bladder retention. It was causing me to get blood in my urine. Ended up with an IV for dehydration. Another thing to note. Not all doctors understand bariatric surgery. During the ct last night they discovered that my intestines are inflamed, he kept trying to give me Motrin type products and I had to repeteatly tell him I can't take those anymore. -

You'll be fine! All liquids today! My doc said milk of magnesia at 4 pm so I'm taking that too. Man your lucky! Mine stated milk of magnesia to start on Friday. Lol, every bit of liquid I put in comes right back out lol. But prettycali, you are having sleeve correct? When I did that one is was liquids the day before and it was fine. I would just keep to liquid today though, and maybe a dose of mom to help get it out of your system. -

Have you taken your preop class yet? Every doctor is different as is every surgery. With my sleeve it was just one day of liquids, this bypass is 3 days of liquid... -

I had a sleeve in Feb of last year. Starting in June/July I developed really bad GERD/Reflux Its so bad I just bend over and acid comes up. I tried all the meds, repositioning of the bed, changing diet., but nothing worked. I had a tons of testing and my surgeon decided to do a bypass because that is suppose to fix it. -

Sandy that would drive me nuts! I have very poor veins. When I went in for my sleeve it was at 3pm and they had the hardest time finding a vein cause I was so dehydrated, so she made sure I was on the list for first thing in the morning this time. Do you have something to keep you busy while you wait to go to the hospital? BTW what kind of nurse are you? Don't happen to work at the hospital you are getting surgery are you? I always wondered how that would be lol. =) -

Did you get your call? I finally caved in an called, I couldn't take it anymore. I have to be at the hospital at 5:30 in the morning. =) I'm really happy with that. When I did the sleeve I didn't have to be there till after one with surgery time of 3. I was so dehydrated that they took an hour to find a vein and I almost didn't get the surgery. This time I can drink up till 12 so I will drink away lol, and I went today and bought hand warmers to put in my pockets to help with circulation. I have a bad thyroid so my extremities are always so cold. And I am such a horrible stick. =( Right after I called about the time, the atheist called and admitting called so I am all set! Now I will focus on the lesson I am teaching in primary for sunday school, so I can keep my mind off of food. -

That's the wait that is getting me the most, is the wait for the time.... Already talked to the pre admit surgery nurse, but getting the time is stressing me out. I get so worried about, what if I miss the call, what if they forget to call. In the paper work it says if you don't get the call the day before your surgery to call in... Ummm really? Like you say the day before , but what time will you call so I know when to check by Kwim? And to top it off surgery on a Monday so doc isn't open the day before. It's got me all tied in knots. I told hubby, that if I don't hear something by 1pm than I'm calling Good luck to you! -

There are many forms of Biotin. I just bought some aciberry soft chew ones off of amazon. The gummies are good, but these ones sounded interesting, I haven't gotten them in the mail yet, they come in on Monday. -
I'm scheduled to have it Monday

So with surgery getting close, have you started getting your supplies together? I go in on Monday and I have started packing my bag First off let me state, if you use a Cpap, check to see if they want you to bring it. Last year my surgery was postponed because I forgot to bring it! I was so crushed. IV in, minutes away from the OR and told no. Here is what I have so far in my bag: Distilled Water for my cpap (check with your hospital if they carry it, my unit uses it and they do not carry it there) Gas X dissolvable strips (gas pains can get pretty bad, the dissolvable ones are great and they don't taste bad) chap stick ( your lips will get dry) Loose fitting close for ride home. ( some of those sweats and yoga pants can be a bit tight fitting, and will be hitting right around the area those stitches are, also remember that they fill your abdomen full of gas so you will be a little bloated, just because something is ok fitting now, it may be little tight at the hospital.) Binder ( some docs are ok with these, some aren't,, some even hand them out to you). if you don't know what it is, imagine a big Ace bandage for your waist. They are great to help that hold in feeling that you want when you are doing that walking around the hallways. Long charger cord I use mine for my tablet and my cell phone. Having a long one is great for those far away plugs. Home supplies: I know some docs let you take pills afterwards. My docs rule is nothing bigger than an pencil eraser. So she requests that we either do crushed, chewable or liquid. Crushed Tylenol is horrible! and the chewable kind you would have to take so many. I found at Walmart their brand of adult liquid Tylenol an it doesn't taste that bad. All my Vitamins, Fiber and such are either the gummy or the chewable. And something I've learned is to take Biotin. Its great to help with the hair loss. -

Something else to think about is recipies for when you can start eating again. There is a ricotta recipie that is super yummy. I made it then frozen in an ice tray then put the cubes in a bag so I could have little bits of it. Cualiflower is another great one, can make mini pizzas using the caulflower as dough, bread sticks. -

I've done a lasagna, a polenta pie, Parmesan chicken with roast potatoes, chicken and broccoli casserole, meatball sub casserole, and lots of soups, and frozen crock pot meals like slow cooker spare ribs, chicken broccoli Alfredo, maple Dijon chicken. There are so many possibilities though. I just didn't want to have to deal with food when I couldn't eat it. I have enough frozen till I start the puree stage that I don't have to worry. I have 16yr old twins so it was a good learning lesson for them on preparing and freezing things -
Mandy how are you doing? I had the sleeve done Feb 2015 and have been suffering from GERD since June/ July. After endoscope, upper gi, ph test, and ultra sound I am finally scheduled for a bypass in 5 days. I cant wait to get rid of the pain.

My favorite protein drink is Isopure Dutch Chocholate. One thing good about it is its Lo to no carbs, low calorie and 50 G protein. If anyone has Amazon kindle unlimited, they have a book with awesome recipes for protein shakes. Also Unjury has a unflavored protein powder that works great in soups, coffee, cottage cheese, young art, applesauce etc. -

Since I've already gone through the sleeve, and now am getting ready to have the bypass in a week, I took what I learned from the last time this time since I will be three days liquid before and then not wanting to cook afterwards, I made 2 weeks of casserole and full dinners and just frozen them. There is a list of what's available with how to cook it on the fridge. That way my husband can just choose and pop in the oven -

So I've noticed such a wide difference in the way docs prep for surgery. I'm having a revision done for Gerd. For my sleeve it was a liquid diet 24 hrs before. For the bypass it's 3 days. I'm seeing some on here stating two weeks. Some questions: 1.) have they stated how long your hospital stay will be? Mine states one night, for my sleeve I was only there 12 hours 2.) have you received your plan for eating after surgery? -

HI, Im scheduled Feb 1st for a revision from a sleeve I had just shy of a year ago! I am so excited! -
I went through a weight loss clinic. Each month I went in and they did the weigh ins and kept track of that. I was put on a high Protein 1600 cal diet for the 3 months. They showed me exercises to do, but nobody kept track of that. Are you going through someone who specializes in weight loss or just a reg doc?
