I have suffered for PCOS for 20 years with absent periods, hair on my face and body. Routinely going to the docter him prescribing me the pill to induce a period, telling me to lose weight and the cycle went on and on. I was 100lbs over weight & he said if i lost just 10% of my weight my periods would begin. Every body had their reasons for the bariatric surgery mine was to have a period... So off i went on my journey on the 26/2/15 and 9 months later i lost 77lbs and then finally after 20 years i had my first period. No pain just very dark urine followed by a period. I was scared to look when I went to the loo was this a fluke and maybe I had imagined it but it was very real. Some women see this every month and I have longed to see this happen to me for over 20 years. At 1 point I thought I had hit early menopause or having children was a pipe dream but now this has given me hope. The sleeve has been a success for me. In the 9 months so many of my goals have been achieved. For anybody overweight suffering from pcos dont give it a second thought - have the surgery it will help you!

PCOS! Suffer no more! Please read

Hi ladies i am not going to say the sleeve surgery is the answer to eradicate hair as 3 years prior to my surgery i have been having nd yag laser hair removal on my face neck chest and arms. I have it done every 3 months and it was expensive but no more razors my hair is no longer thick and unruly its like baby hair can barely see it. However since the surgery i have noticed the one area which was problematic and i didn't get laser hair removal was my back. The hair is not as thick and that too has slowed down in growth and thickness. I had started shaving at the age of 12 & would steal razor blades from my brother as I couldnt afford to buy them. Then i started wearing make up at the same age just to cover the stubble. I lost friends at school because they saw me as a freak and getting ready to go to school or work over the next 15-20 years would start 3 hours earlier plucking hairs from my chin, shaving and them concealing and then not having any eye contact with anybody in case they looked at mu face too long. Man i dont know how i got through it when i look back now. Pcos is not a disability or a serious illness like cancer but it ruined the first 27 years of my life... I had no help i had to educate myself fix me myself -
9 months out hair loss still a concern
nikki1980 posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
At the start of my journey i was 100lbs overweight. 9 months in i have lost 76lbs and on target to reach my goal on feb 26th 2016. This is the best decision i made however.... The hair loss is showing no sign of subsiding... Its really bad to the point where its very noticeable and i can no longer do anything with it. It sticks up like static and the receding hair line is making me look older than my years any advice?? -

Happiest Moment
nikki1980 replied to jhclikesshopping@gmail.com's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am a new person! Had surgery 5 months and am down 65lbs and 35lbs away from my goal weight. I am happier, seeing my friends and family more, confidence has increased and i am happy! The best decision i ever made. Every 10lbs i lose i drop down a size. I go to the gym, i have a new relationship with food and i dont want to consume unhealthy food again. Wish i had done this 10 years ago but better late than never! -
Had a big clear out of my wardrobe. Found lots of clothes which didnt fit me pre sleeve but i kept them thinking they would fit me one day. Today 3 months post sleeve i have lost 50lbs and the clothes i was keeping for 1 day i will be slim are now too big. I feel emotional and scared. What if i throw out all of these clothes and i go back to my previous size? Its such a waste of money. My friend says she will help me sell them online but i dont feel like throwing them away inside deep down a part of me thinks i will regain as the sizes in my wardrobe vary from 16 to 22. One outfit which i bought to wear on Christmas day was poignant. I bought it a week before Christmas as my husband and i were staying at a fancy hotel and having lunch there on Christmas Day i was in tears as the dress would not fit so i ended up wearing a jumper and trousers and feeling frumpy. Today that same dress is hanging off me and I didnt get to wear it. So many mixed emotions of happiness, sadness, doubt, scared. Did anybody else feel like this? What did you do with your clothes keep or throw away?

Incision tape removal
nikki1980 replied to Big Cat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I left them alone and they fell off themselves apart from the last one which was on the largest incision so i had my follow up appt with the nurse who removed it for me after 3.5 weeks i was very careful and did not get any of them wet. Hope this helps! -
I dont know if this has happened to anybody but its just happened to me the second time and its so scary.... I am 9 weeks post op and while in a deep sleep i gave been woken up due to vomit in the back of my throat it feels as though it is filling up my throat and the sensation makes me run to the washroom to gag. Its really scary because it could lead to me choking in my sleep bear in mind its happened twice in 9 weeks just wondering what could be causing it and has anybody else experienced it too??

Omg! Glitter eyes i work night shifts too! How strange! -
Has anybody else experienced extreme dryness in their face? My body is okay but my cheeks and forehead since surgery have become dry like crazy. Also since surgery I just can not tolerate water anymore whereas before surgery thats all I drank now I am on unsweetened apple juice only and drink a litre of it every day. Can you guys recommend anything for the dryness??

Up till 1 week ago i was steadily losing every day. At 4 weeks i was cleared for solids and has seen my weight go up! In 1 week i have put on almost 2lbs could this be because i am eating solids? I can 2 bites of chicken breast, cheese and yoghurt. I am getting in 1 litre of water. Think i will go back to protein shakes and water reluctantly to see if this pushes the scales back down. Did anybody else experience weight gain after solids?

Hi guys I know the time varies where someone goes back to work a month, a week or even a few days after surgery. I am 2 weeks post op and go back to working night shifts on day 18 post op but I am so tired! I haven't even attempted to drive my car. I am having difficulty in getting the Water,Protein and now can have mushy food too. I had my first shopping outing today and I took my Protein shake and water with me taking sips regularly I was out for 5 hours and so drained out don't know how I will cope at work. My surgeon says I can not be cleared for Vitamins till 5 weeks post op so I am taking an oral B12 spray. Sometimes I feel there aren't enough hours in the day! Currently I am trying to fit in 2 litres of water, 80g of protein. sleeping very well 12 hours. Any suggestions to alleviate the tiredness would be appreciated!

I am on full liquids and on day 9 post sleeve surgery is it normal to lose only 1lb a day?? What was everyone else losing and can i do anything to speed things up?
-
So had my gastric sleeve at a fantastic private hospital in London where the nurses would check on me every half hour and administer medication through IV. Today at discharge i was given a sack full of medication and sent on my merry way. Taking medication which is dissolvable but i am in a catch 22 situation i am in pain so i got to drink medicine but drinking the medicine gives me pain. Its not like other surgeries where you pop a pill and numb the pain for a while this is so hard! Sorry to be a debbie downer but i am struggling

Only losing 1lbs a day
nikki1980 replied to nikki1980's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For your information i researched this procedure for 2 years and my surgeon told me the % of weight i could expect to lose over a course of a year and I also saved £10,000 of my own money to have this done i am simply putting out a question out there to see if 1 pound a day is the norm or were others losing the same amount at the beginning of their journey too. No need to get annoyed It wasn't annoyance Nikki as much as it was disbelief when I read your post... You didn't "simply put out a question to see if a pound a day is the norm." You asked how "to speed things up"... I could not believe that, because you were 9 days out of surgery and surely must be on a dr ordered plan for your recovery, and I wondered when in your life have you ever lost a pound a day (or even a pound a week) for that matter. For me, it's a matter of gratitude. I'm so grateful for this surgery, this new beginning, and the second chance for a healthy life that I wouldn't ever imagine being so lackadaisical about the initial recovery period... I'm sorry if I came across annoyed. I really do hope you will gain a better understanding of how this process is going to work in the upcoming months for you. I think you are judgemental and very condescending and saying you hope i have a better understanding? For somebody who is on liquids for over a week I thought i would lose more but reading responses for everyone else which was the objective of my post it seems this is the norm for most. I wish you well on your journey and as suggested by you i will try to re-educate myself so i have the same level of understanding as you. I wont be posting anymore on the matter and i will definitely think twice before i put my thinking out loud thoughts on here again -
