  1. I am on day 5 of my two week pre op liquid diet! This has got to be the hardest thing I've ever done in my entire life! Seriously! I am required to have 7 HMR (lactose free) Meal Replacement shakes per day. They can be mixed with Water only! I am also allowed to have broth, Crystal Light, coffee, tea, water or diluted fruit juices and sugar free popsicles. The shake flavors come in chocolate or vanilla only. They are getting really hard to get down! Most days, I'm only able to get 6 of them in. I have 9 days to go and....honestly....I'm hoping I make it! Today, I put 1 tablespoon of PB2 in my vanilla shake. It made it taste soooo much better! I am drinking over 64 oz of water per day. I've already lost 8lbs...but this is pure torture, especially when you still have to cook for 3 kids and a husband. I want to eat real food so badly! I'd appreciate some words of advice! How have others handled this?
  2. I just started this process. My first appt. with the surgeon was yesterday. My insurance company requires me to meet with my primary care physician 6 times (every 30 days) for discussion about diet, weight and exercise. Therefore, my surgery won't happen until July. At first, I was disappointed that it was going to take that long. However, after thinking about it, it might be a blessing in disguise. For one thing, my kids will be out of school so I won't have to worry about drop off and pick up lines. Secondly, it will give me some time to concentrate on walking and getting myself more physically active. I'm sure that will help me to be at least a little healthier for surgery and recovery.
