How long were you off work?

I had surgery on a Thursday and went to work on Monday morning. I had no problems.
  2. I use generic athletes foot cream from Walmart...heals me up over night.
  3. I'm Feb 12. I have had no problems at all. I seem to be able to get my water and protein in for the most part. Down about 10 pounds and my postop appt. isn't until March 4. I'm also interested in the Facebook group.

Honestly- I didn't have any other option but to go back. My employment has "use it or lose it" vacation by your anniversary date. Unfortunately, mine was the middle of January. Because my insurance denied me the first time, we had to appeal, and couldn't get the ok before my leave ran out, so I was forced to take my leave to just hang out at home. It then starts over for the year and accrues...so by Feb, I had 2.5 days I could use, or take unpaid. So, I took the 2 days and hoped for the best. This is why I didn't tell my employer, because I didn't want to have to wait for Surgeon's ok to go back-which ended up being a good thing, since I couldn't even get my first post-op appt. until Mar 4, so I would have been out almost 3 weeks. Plus, I work for a close knit company-lots of "friends and family", and whether or not HR is confidential or not, I know there are whispers here and whispers there, and it would be out. My life is also like the "6 degrees of Kevin Bacon" where there are people that connect to all circles of my life, which made it so I couldn't tell anyone about the surgery other than my immediately circle of trust !. All in all, not an ideal situation, but we're making it through. I'm just extremely thankful there were no complications to muddy it up.

It's hard to believe it's already been a week-it seems time has gone so fast, yet soooooo slow! I've had zero pain or complications other than loose stools (sometimes frequent). I've lost about 10 pounds including the 2 that I gained from fluids in the hospital totaling 17 pounds total including my preop. I had lost 50 pounds on my own prior to seeing my surgeon for the first time. I have told no one that I had the surgery other than my husband and my parents. I did not tell my employer. I took two days vacation (last Thursday and Friday) and then went back to work on Monday. I didn't have much fatigue going back as I was afraid I might. I'm to the point where I can barely choke down another Protein drink. My surgeon requires 2 protein supps a day and 2 Meal Replacements a day (like sugar free carnation instant). I have no problem physically getting it down...it just----ugh. When I start to feel a little buyers remorse I look at pureed food recipes and have started making a binder of which ones I am going to try-it helps my mind to remember that this is just a phase and we will keep moving forward. Also, when feeling a little buyers remorse, I head over to pinterest. I started a "secret" Dream Board so that I can pin things that remind me of why I decided to have this surgery. It has cute outfits that I always wished I could wear (you know-with boots and boot cuffs), pictures of amusement park rides that I can't wait to ride with my kids, pictures of airplanes so I remember that I'll never have to squeeze into another seat or be humiliated asking for an extension, and pictures of musicals and theatre, because my weight has held me back from some of the roles that I really wanted. So here's to week 2-onward and upward (and thinward?)!! Katie

    Time off post op

I had my surgery on Thursday and went to work on Monday. I had no issues, did not feel fatigue, and have been fine. Nobody is the same tho. I have a desk job with some driving to meetings. I haven't taken so much as a Tylenol after surgery so if you're still needing pain meds the story would be different.

    Ideas for puréed food stage

I have been exploring this as I have about a week before I move to pureeds...I found a lot of "hope" at batriatricfoodie.com...you can click on the purred foods section and there are like 17 different ideas. It makes that portion of the journey seem a little more exciting and bearable.

    Back to work :)

I returned to work today after being sleeved on the 12th. I took two vacation days to "help out with my kid's Valentine's Day parties". I actually feel fine. I have no pain other than an earache that I've picked up. Bending over is still slightly uncomfortable, otherwise I'm doing very well. I am SERIOUSLY craving some meat though--Iike I want to chew something in a bad way! Hoping things continue to be smooth sailing!

I think the steroids are working!

Holy cow! Hamburger already? I'm craving meat....I'm 3 days post op and I'm counting down until my puréed foods.. Probably 2-3 more weeks per my dr.

    I'm done!

Thanks everyone. I haven't had nausea since last night. I've been able to drink broth and crystal light and had a bit of orange sorbet. Really have no pain which is the best surprise Mostly just exhausted. Hard to stay awake

    I'm done!

Sleeved yesterday. Waking up was bit rough. Vomited all night even with 2 anti nausea meds. Walked 3 times already and just had my upper gi to check for leaks. Very minimal pain....mostly tired.

    Here we go

I'm all dressed in my gown. ..surgery at 10:30. See you on the other side!

    Tomorrow!

I'm scheduled for the sleeve tomorrow at 10:30. I don't really feel anything - anxious, happy, scared etc - not sure if that's a good or bad thing :/?!
  15. My Sleeve is scheduled for 2/12: I've been thinking about this question a lot since I started this process. I think I haven't realized how much my weight has affected my life. In the past couple of weeks, I've really noticed some things that I do or don't do that are weight related that I haven't really considered before. With that in mind...this is what I'm most looking forward to: 1)playing with my 3 girls unrestricted-including going to amusement parks and not just being a spectator. 2) when I walk into the dance studio while my daughter is practicing, I won't have to worry about seeing myself in a room full of mirrors--I purposely look only at my daughter and refuse to look in the mirrors-which is hard when they are floor to ceiling 3)Picking up a glamour magazine again and realize that I can use some of the tips and information in there 4)walking into a meeting and not worrying that that chair is not going to hold me 5)Going out to eat and worrying if we get a booth 6)Riding in an elevator without having the person in there glance at the weight limit 7)Ordering the same team shirts as the other dance moms 8)Auditioning for local theater and actually having a chance as a decent part And then your typical be healthy, run, live longer....but mostly Hope.
