First of all, congratulations to you all! Secondly, can I join you? I just found out I am almost 5 wks pregnant and only 9 mos. out from GSV. I'm also 37, will be 38 at EDD. Here's to an easy pregnancy for us all! -
Congrats! Where did you have your procedure & who was your surgeon? @@ronimom I had the surgery done in Tijuana with Dr.'s Cabrera and Camelo. I used Mexico Tourism Co. I had a great experience and would be happy to answer any questions you may have! I've had two girlfriends also go, I was the second of the three of us and everyone had a great experience.

Lower-end BMI Sleeve Surgery. Any others?
katyh2015 replied to Kevineastwest's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My new goal is too start with protein, then veggies, skip the fruit for a little bit and then see if I have room for the carb/starch that is available. I tried this with Easter Dinner last night and seriously if I hadn't made myself because it tasted so good, I wouldn't have even had room for those 3 bites of mashed potatoes I had. I also know I need to up my water intake too but sometimes it feels so hard, like I'm eating or drinking something all day and how do I have time to do anything else!?!?! -

What protein shakes are preferred?
katyh2015 replied to Gr8bowler's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm with the consensus here, I like the Premier Protein. chocolate is my favorite and I add SF Torani syrup to mix it up. Peppermint, Raspberry, Peanut Butter, Salted caramel. The possibilities are endless. I also use the vanilla in my coffee in the morning. GENEPRO unflavored is good as well. I put it in my Soup when I was on the liquid diet and sometimes when I need to get a little more in for the day add it to juice, smoothies, or flavored Water. I bought several flavors of the Muscle Milk at my health food store and had to toss them all. Yuck! -
Any Recent Surgeries in Mexico
katyh2015 replied to Samirax6's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I split mine up between financing it and self-pay. I paid $250 to the coordinating agency and the balance then was $4000. I paid half to the surgeon in a cashier's check and the other half the financing company paid to the agency who in turn paid the surgeon. -
Good luck tomorrow, you got this! Just remember that each day it gets a little bit better. I am 4 weeks out tomorrow and I still think each day is easier than the last!

how long did people take off work for recovery?
katyh2015 replied to akreese02's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
6 days for me at a desk job. Had no pain whatsoever coming back. First week was definitely tired but doable. I probably would have been bored out of my mind any longer, however a midday nap during those days would have been nice! But then again I had a 3 hour time difference to overcome and my last day before work we all sprung forward so those time changes, travel across countries and recovering from surgery all played into my experience. -
I had my first cup 3 weeks out. I have had one cup each morning since and in addition to my coffee I add a little cream and a scoop of GENEPRO unflavored Protein powder to it. Lasts me a couple hours and then I usually am ready for like a hard boiled egg or yogurt by like 9:30-10 am. And have already gotten in 30 g of protein.

Sleeved yesterday! How I feel 24 hours out... And when did you all get rid of the gas?
katyh2015 replied to Goldy6575's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine was just under 3 days. I remember the night before I was supposed to fly across country to come home I was worried because I was still pretty uncomfortable. Woke up that 3rd day and what a change! Every day gets better! -
Finally found a protein I can tolerate
katyh2015 replied to kyrickchick64's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Still my favorite too and I've tried a lot! I also have bought a couple SF Torani syrups to mix in to my chocolate premier shakes to change up the taste. I love peppermint, salted caramel and Peanut Butter in them! -

I have the opposite bathroom problem, oh the joys! I am getting ready to start soft foods tomorrow. Last week I enjoyed a bit of the potatoes and broccoli from my Soups, tried an egg and some refried Beans. Doing pretty well I think. It's still a learning lesson to try to figure out when I'm full. There's been a couple times that I've really not felt well after eating, and I think it's from eating too much. Even though that too much is still so small! I'm finding that if I eat very slow, take a lot of breaks, I can tell a bit better. So one trick for me is to not let myself get too hungry or I eat faster then I should. I'm down 19 lbs from my starting weight though so I'm happy with that. I see people posting double that loss but I also have to remind myself that this isn't a race, and compared to some people I don't have quite so much to lose.

Lower-end BMI Sleeve Surgery. Any others?
katyh2015 replied to Kevineastwest's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a BMI of 30 on the day of my surgery, maybe even 29 with the pre op weight loss. I was just told that it actually makes recovery easier. I am now 2+ weeks post op and feel great! My weight loss isn't as fast as some others who have more to lose, but I expected that. This is a marathon, not a sprint. Slow and steady wins the race! Good luck with your decision and surgery if you choose to do so! -
