  1. I just turned 21 6 months ago and I'm about 6 weeks post op. I was wondering if anyone had tried drinking so soon after surgery? I know your not supposed to drink at least 6 months after surgery, but it seems to be really hard because all of my friends want to go out! Now I'm not talking about anything crazy because I know how alcohol is like pure calories but I was thinking maybe half a glass of wine or something. What are your thoughts?

  2. Kristy,

Unfortunately you have to take all of your piercings out. I have my tongue pierced as well and what I did was I brought a little zip lock baggy with me and kept it in until I went into the pre-op room. My mom held onto it for me and then once I was out of surgery I put all my piercings back in no problem. Good luck! :wink2:

  3. I am now 4 weeks post op and have been having some trouble. I feel hungry alot more and have a constant need to fill that "void" that food used to fill. I have also only lost 13 lbs so far (no pre-op diet) and that doesn't help me to feel motivated. I spoke with a family friend who is 2 years post op and he said that the 3rd and 4th week were one of the hardest times for him. Is anyone else feeling the same thing?

  4. Musicalmomma,

No I'm not on a pre-op diet, just trying to eat well so my body will stay healthy for surgery. I had an appointment with a hematologist on Friday and he cleared me for surgery  so now he's going to fax over the clearance letter on Monday to my surgeons office and hopefully I will get a new surgery date within two weeks. I'm keeping my fingers crossed! Thanks for the support!

  5. I am feeling a little bit frustrated. I made the decision to have lap band surgery and finally got a surgery date on March 31st 2008, only to have it cancelled due to a high white blood cell count on my blood test. I had to jump through hoops and hurdles to get an appointment with a hematologist and he cleared me for surgery on Friday so now I can reschedule for a new date. Now my Mom (who has been such a big support) just mentioned that "Oh I heard this thing about Opt-Fast.. maybe it is an option?" This made me so mad. I know of course she would rather me not have surgery if at all possible but I already made the decision to be banded! I'm just feeling alone and now I'm starting to wonder again if I should really go through with it..

    Any thoughts?

  6. I am so upset. My surgery was scheduled for Monday March 31st, and the surgeon's office called me on Thursday and said that my labs came back and my white blood cell count was high(this means i might have an infection.) I was so frustrated that they didn't call me earlier to tell me this. Instead they call 1 day before my surgery! So, I rushed down to my PCP office and re-did the blood work and it is still high. My doctor cleared me but the surgeon won't do the procedure because it is a risk. I am perfectly healthy and they have no idea why my WBC is high. So now I have to get cleared by a hematologist in order to re-schedule my surgery. I was so looking forward to this and now I don't know how to handle this huge let down. Did anyone else have a high WBC? If so, what did you do???
