I am 40 year old female. I've been battling my weight for close to 15 years. When I was 1st married in 2001 I began noticing the weight creeping up on me. I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome and my 8 year fertility struggle began. I was single minded in getting pregnant so I let everything else fall to the way-side (or waist size) My gynecologist recommended weight loss to improve my fertility. I went on a diet at the end of 2007 and lost 40lbs. I plateaued at the time at around 200lbs. Then I got pregnant.
I delivered my daughter at 31 weeks due to preeclampsia. Two months prior to her birth, my father died. Needless to say it was a whirlwind year. I felt like I put my grief on hiatus to care for my daughter. The weight began creeping back on. I sunk into a deep depression over the loss of my father. I started to give up on myself and concentrate fully on my daughter. I gained back all the weight I lost and about 20 extra pounds. My regular doctor recommended the gastric sleeve in November of 2013 and at first I was horrified. Horrified that I let everything get away from me so far that it had come to this. Then I did my research and realized that it was the best viable option to recover the person I was before all of this.
Now i'm two days into my pre-op liquid diet. I'm feeling very anxious and out of sorts, not to mention hungry!
