December sleevers
HealthArtLove replied to holliwood1980's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am down 59 lbs. I just logged on to look for info on hair loss. Your posts were well timed for me. I had surgery on 12/30. Didn't expect hair loss for a few more months. I'm struggling to get in my vegetables. Finally got the protein, water and vitamin routine down. Would love any other suggestions to combat hair loss. -
Unjury shake questions

It does make a drink taste different, but it wasn't terrible. But, very noticeable. -

December sleevers

Tfarr, I'm in the same boat. Nothing bothers me either. I'm on a business trip and I decided to try a few fries (fried anything is my weakness). I was able to eat a hell of a lot more than I could have imaged. Decided to find a support group asap. Have you tried Meet up? They list bariatric support groups by zip code. I found a more convenient group then the one at my surgeons office (which is an hour from me). Maybe you can find a group that meets at a time that is better for you. I was given the best advice from a friend the other day. She reminded me that I need to learn to eat for life, just not for weight loss. There will always be temptations and some days will be better than others. But I can start each day with the best intentions, even if I gave in the day before. Please reach out to others for support. This is hard and to important to go it alone! -

@@tfarr, why are you depressed? You have lost an amazing amount of weight and you have no side effects. -
December sleevers
HealthArtLove replied to holliwood1980's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Big mama, I'm with you! I weigh myself multiple times a day. So not dropping weight as quickly as before is killing me! Oh well, I decided that I need to get my ass up every weekday morning and work out. Need to get all I can out of this surgery. ???? -
December sleevers
HealthArtLove replied to holliwood1980's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Glad I finally found other December sleevers. It's been a crazy journey. Down 27 pounds since surgery on 12/30. Seem to be in my second stall. Eating normally, but struggling to get liquid down. Curious if anyone else is loosing really slowly now? I was losing a pound ever other day. Now I have only lost five pounds in a month. Something doesn't seem right. Would love some advice. -
Looking for December 2014 sleeve support/friends...
HealthArtLove replied to CJSLEEVE's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi! Great to meet other December people. I was sleeved on 12/30. The first 3-5 weeks were rough. Doing well now. Would love to know if all of you are getting your Protein and Water in, I went back to one Protein shake a day, because I couldn't fit in all the food required to hit my 60-70 grams of protein. Still struggling with the water. Also, curious if anyone else has had multiple stalls? I hit one at three weeks and it seems like I am in one again. Looking forward to learning about others experience. -
Getting closer and having doubts
HealthArtLove replied to skc72's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I almost cancelled the night before my surgery, and I spent six months getting there. Your feelings are normal! Make the leap and you will see. Although, I will warn you, the first three weeks suck! I had serious doubt and reservations. Then suddenly, you feel human again. Good luck and holler when you need help! -
FUNNY question for post op 3 weeks or less
HealthArtLove replied to aclinton16's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm three weeks post op. I don't think I looked any different, but I dropped 35 lbs (due to surgery and two weeks of liquid diet prior). However, when I returned to work I wore the same clothes. I noticed my pants were bigger, but I didn't realize how big until my co-workers started making comments. It will happen to everyone, eventually your pre-surgery clothes will fall off or hang...and I am really looking forward to that! -
How long before you returned to work?
HealthArtLove replied to chuck415's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
In my opinion three weeks is a good timeframe. I started working from home one week out and returned to the office right at two weeks. It was hard! I had very little energy. Wish I had waited, it was difficult for me and my family. -
You are an inspiration! Keep up the amazing work!

What and how much should I tell my kids about my surgery?
HealthArtLove replied to Kabby_Chick's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
BLERDgirl hit it dead on. I used the same approach with my 7 year old. The only thing I added was that the doctors were going to help me lose weight. The night before the surgery she wanted to know how skinny I would be when I got home? Glad we had that conversation, she probably would have been disappointed/confused if I walked back in after surgery and still looked the same. ???? -
1 year Surgiversary!

This made me smile from ear to ear. Congrats! Way to go! Hope you are doing something big to celebrate. -
I'm done telling folks. They don't get it
HealthArtLove replied to wannaBthinsoon's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I decide to be forth coming with friends and family. This was a huge change for me since I am very, very private. I knew the change would be drastic as I started losing weight, so I decided to be open. Surprisingly, my Mother and brother were the least supportive. My husband didn't want me to have the surgery, but he totally supported my choice. The rest of my friends and family were kind, supportive and loving. Found out I had a dear friend who was being sleeved six weeks before me. She wasn't telling anyone until I opened up. Post op was hard and I am glad I built my support system months prior. I knew where I could turn for support and encouragement. My Mother has been downright awful! My husband has been supportive emotionally, physically and financially. And my friends, well they have been awesome. This choice has brought me closer to several of them, because for the first time I am opening up and allowing them to support me. I guess that is my take away for this post. Many of us because larger because we didn't share, didn't communicate, didn't let others in. It was easier to be stoic and comfort ourselves with food. For me coming out of that shadow has been scary, uncomfortable and unnerving, but the payoff has been huge. So, don't give up on people just stay away from those who aren't positive. You may find support in the unlikeliest place, if you are open to it. -
I really like the quote, livvsmum! I spent time, today, reminding myself of why I needed the surgery. All the advice and a change of perspective really helped. ????

Hello! I'm new to the forum. Had gastric sleeve at the end of December. I'm losing weight fast, but I am having regrets. It's hard not being able to drink enough to quench my thirst. It tough remembering when I can eat or drink (due to the 30 minute rule). I'm getting in 40 grams of protein, thanks to my shakes. But I can't seem to get much food down. I'm really questioning if I made the right decision...not that I can take it back. Would love to hear from other who had doubts after surgery. Thanks!

Be honest - does anyone regret the surgery?
HealthArtLove replied to TvlGrl712's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
TvlGrl712, I am just three weeks out, post op, and I am already feeling regret. Don't get me wrong, I'm losing weight and lots of it. But I can't help but feel sad that I couldn't do this on my own. There are a lot of changes that you have to make to be successful. In hindsight, I wish I had tried to follow the post surgery diet during the six months wait for insurance approval, just to see what would happen. I'm sure my sentiment isn't popular. But I actually had a debate with my surgeon prior to surgery regarding the fact that it's an unfair world where people are starving in some countries and people are undergoing surgery so they can lose weight in others. The irony and injustice really didn't sit well with me. You can imagine the look he gave me! My decision to have the surgery wasn't an easy one. But, I was starting to have problems with my knees, I couldn't participate in activities with my family and my health was starting to be impacted by the weight. After spending the majority of my 40 years living life as a fat person, I decide to see what it was like to finally be free of the excess weight. But I debated my decision for over a year. I finally decided to take a leap of faith, let's see how I feel about it in a few months. ???? -

After finishing Breaking Bad and Madmen I decided to bing watch Orange is the New Black, House of Cards and Scandal. The shows took the place of food! -
I made soft boiled eggs, mashed avocados and ate organic puréed baby fruits. And a lot of jello????

Having my doubts
HealthArtLove replied to RobinL123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Honestly, I which I had tried following the post op diet before going through with the surgery. Give it a try and you can decide if this option is right for you. -
I appreciate the support. I had been very health conscience in the last 18 months. Which means my eating post surgery was pretty healthy. I think that may be part of my concern; I wasn't able to do this myself without the surgery. I was working out almost daily last year and managing my calories but only lost 20 lbs in 6 months. I have dropped 20 lbs in the past three weeks! Did any of you feel sad because you weren't able to do his without the surgery?
