  1. The surgery was fine, was up and walking within a few hours. The hospital staff weren't great and the gas pain was horrible. First two weeks honestly sucked for me, I didn't walk enough when I got home and didn't blow in that lung thingy enough so it was basically my fault. Everything else is just trial and error, don't drink and eat, do wait the 30 minutes in between, don't take that last bite of food just cause your brain is telling you to cause your stomach will be really pissed. make sure you take the Vitamins and eat Protein protein protein, your hair might fall out a lot or a little. It's all one day at a time. Like I said everyone is different and everyone loses at their own pace. Doctor says I'm doing good might be off the blood pressure, cholesterol meds soon.
  2. Hi, I went through the same feelings, almost backed out the last two weeks before, but I wanted to actually finish something I started. I had been yo yo dieting all my life, losing 50 pounds only to gain it back and then some and do it all over again. I had clothes in my closet from size 7 to 20. I'm not going to tell you it is easy because it's not. Everyone goes through this different then anyone else, your journey will be your own to embrace. I myself had some bad experiences since my surgery in January but I would do it again in a heartbeat. I feel better, I'm actually full for the first time of my life. I have loads of energy. Don't give up so close you'll only regret it and possibly gain more weight. Word of advice, take lots of pictures, that's one of my regrets, I didn't take any in the beginning and come on this website everyday. Even if you don't reply to anyone, just seeing what everyone is doing and going through helps alot. Good Luck, take care

    "Oh I've only lost..."

Yes, people will tell me that I look great and I'm like "Oh, I've only lost 75 pounds", "got 20 more to go". I thank them too but I still don't see it I guess. I should have taken pictures of my progress, that's my only regret. Well that and losing most of my hair. Ugh

    Hair loss and contraceptives

OMG! I had my surgery Jan 2015 and my hair has been falling out in clumps for over a month now. I cry a lot at what's in the shower drain or on my brush. It's dry and brittle and I had to cut it shorter so it doesn't look so bad but the parts are bigger and you can tell it's falling out. I take my Vitamins, Biotin and eat my Protein but it hasn't helped. I hear it will stop hopefully before I'm bald. I even bought hair thinning shampoo and conditioner. Good luck, if you find out anything else to do please let me know.

    Im scared

It's normal to be scared, I was, almost backed out at the last minute. But I honestly have to say now 6 months later it was the best thing I've ever done. Sure, your experience will be different from everyone else but this website is amazing and has helped me out several times just from reading other peoples stories. The first couple weeks after will suck, but once you get in the groove of it all you'll be awesome. Hang in there.

    Alcoholic beverages

I know several people who have had the surgery and drink. They actually drink beer. I had a drink 3 months out for my Birthday and was fine. Can't drink beer makes me sick but on weekends I have vodka and crystal light.

    Gas Pain HELP!

Hi, I had the worst gas pain ever for about two weeks, but as soon as I started walking around more and eating gasX like candy it stopped. Ice packs and heat helped also. Hang in there, it gets better.

Idk if I want to have the surgery

Before I had surgery I was eating Zantac like they were candy. Heartburn was out of control. Since the sleeve I haven't had heartburn once, it's awesome. Remember you are doing this for you to feel better and be healthier, I almost backed out myself but I sucked it up and did it. The first two weeks were awful but now I'm loving it. Full for the first time in my life. More energy and feel great. Worst thing is the hair thinning. Don't give up.

    2 month stall

Hi, I know how you feel. I'm three months next Thursday and I felt the same way, scale not moving but my clothes are getting bigger. My doctor told me to stay off the scale and go by how I feel and I am. She says I'm doing great. If you are losing inches you are doing great don't beat yourself up about it. Just keep doing what you are doing and it will start to show. I'm only down 35 pounds since the surgery but I've gone from a size 20 to 12. Stay positive.
  11. I too would have loved to be able to do this by myself. Actually I've spent over 25 years yo yo dieting, losing then gaining it all back. Trust me this is not the easy way out, it is a helpful tool. Never thought I'd say that. There were many times during the six months before that I was ready to give up and the week before surgery I was second guessing myself. Everyone kept telling me if you can lose 20 pounds in 6 months why can't you continue. No one understood I was starving to lose that weight, never full always hungry and sad, so sad and embarassed with myself and my looks. This is so not the easy way out, I can tell you with my experience the first two weeks after surgery were the worst, not the pain from the surgery but the pain from the gas in my shoulder, and I was so sick of Protein shakes. My cravings were still there and still are but now I'm FULL for the first time in my life I can't actually say that. It is the best feeling in the world. Sure you'll still want more but your stomach won't and it will let you know. I totally eat better and exercise all the time. I'll be 11 weeks out this Thursday and I feel great. I'm down 35 lbs since surgery and I've gone from a size 20 to 12. Looking forward to getting off more meds too. So, good luck to you in whatever direction you choose. Just make sure you do this for you, no one else. take care
  12. I was scared right before also. wondered if this was the right thing for me. now 6 weeks out I'm glad I didn't change my mind. As long as you have someone to help and support you and follow your doctors instructions you'll be great. Good Luck
