Help me pack for surgery!
annelisem replied to JennG25's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I was in for about 5-6 days and I didn't use any of what I packed entertainment wise lol! I took, Slippers with grips on that are easy to get on A really baggy nightie - you are very bloated after as they usually pump you with air (thought not sure what you're having done) Toothbrush, flannel, shower gel, hairbrush. Lip balm as your lips get dry Knickers Charger for phone Magazine or book Baggy trousers / pajamas Hope it goes well -
How about quorn? I use that all the time and the Protein is really good. I also use quark (zero fat, high protein) with a bit of milk and a bit of banana. Lentils, Beans etc - I just shove extra bits in any meal so that it all adds up x

Hey, Congrats on the weight loss!! I'm 3.5 weeks out now and have lost 28 pounds. I'm not really too fussed about what rate others lose at, as everyone's different. I've never lost this much, so I'm over the moon!! I am really emotional though - for no reason at all lol! -

Hi anyone having surgery April/may from uk
annelisem replied to Sparklediva's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I had Mr Agrawal! He did my surgery last week at Holly House. He is amazing, his whole team is - they make you really relaxed and I was so at ease with his knowledge and experience. The nurses at HH are soooo good, the only thing is that the room was really small. They might not be the same though. Let me know if you have any questions!! -

Anyone have PCOS?
annelisem replied to BeautyInProgress's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey, I do - it's the reason I had the surgery as I was insulin resistant from it. I had my surgery a week ago. I haven't been able to lose weight with it, but this month I've now lost a total of 24 pounds. RNY is meant to be best as it helps with hormones etc. Keep in touch or message if you need any help. Obviously it's all very new for me though! -

Does anyone have small / hard to find veins?
annelisem posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I've been wondering if this has an effect at all? My veins are impossible to find - they couldn't get my blood sample in pre-assessment and I have to go back tomorrow to try again. Has anyone else had this problem? I have my surgery booked for this Saturday. I'm worried about them not being able to get an IV in or something. -

Surgery tomorrow - what got you through liquid stage?
annelisem replied to annelisem's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you for the heads up!! I shall do a bit of online shopping when I'm on my way out then! The one thing I'm confused about is 'no added sugar' stuff - can you eat it?? Like a no added sugar angel delight or something (I know not in the liquid stage) -

annelisem replied to boosh10's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't read loads into the purée stage yet, though I have read a few different hospital's diets on it and they've all said no baby food - but I don't know why. If you find any good 'recipes' for this stage, do let me know -

New here and op's next week - scared!
annelisem posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi everyone, I'm Annelise - I'm 25. I am having my gastric bypass next Saturday. I'm scared / nervous and have no idea of what to expect! I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 16. I've been on a steady weight increase since I was about 18 and was diagnosed with Insulin Resistance. I went through 4 years of going through the NHS way for gastric bypass, after my PCOS consultant said I should. After being approved this year and funding approved at the panel my consultant left and the new one said no to surgery. I'm now going private, as I know it's needed. Can anyone tell me what happens in the hospital? What I'm in for?? I HATE needles and am stressing myself out now! Any help / advice is much needed -

annelisem replied to annelisem's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thank you all! You are all so courageous!!! I am second guessing myself every day. I'm either so into this and giving it my all, or my mind is saying to keep going with the 800 calorie pre-op diet and try going back on the metformin again (I was getting really sick on it before). PCOS is polycystic ovaries - it can cause your body to put on more weight as there's hormone balances and insulin problems. -

Ah thanks guys!!! Jk - I hope yours goes well!! I'll be thinking of you! And James, how on earth did you manage without pain Meds!? I think the thing that I'm struggling most with is that it's such an unknown! It's really helpful to know that you wouldn't change your choice. Thank you!
