    January Sleevers ❄️

A small 4 ounce container does not hold a 4 ounce chicken breast by weight dependent on preparation etc Anyone been told a simple way they to know how to convert/ guess what your getting when not able to weigh Example, chopped/diced/solid has different volume I think I'm putting more in myfitness pal than I'm actually eating and I'm lower on calories and protein than I think.

Question With only eating about 650 calories a day, is it best to have one day every now and then to prevent starvation mode or a stall? Heard that cycling can help prevent stalls but haven't tried it and I'm losing but very slowly!

Euro girl My nut told me my stall (3 weeks now only 6 weeks post op 22lbs down) might be not enough calories. With an increase what are you averaging? I think I get plenty! I'm at about 700, 90 protein, 30 carbs. Burning average 235 per day in exercise. But not 1 lb lost almost 3 weeks

You bet. Without me setting those reminders I know I'd get behind on liquids. How far post op are you?

    Aetna H. M. O. So Cal - Advice

I was getting around well without much abdominal pain in week but still had to be careful with the lower left. You're walking well, but not doing a lot. This is an invasive draining surgery on your body which is why many doctors suggest at least 2 weeks preferably 3 weeks before even returning to work. As for eating, that takes time! At 4 weeks I'm adding solids but it's slowly and I haven't gotten sick, but I've been close and I've learned you have to progress slowly. I feel great and have actually felt pretty great from the beginning. However, you're overnight taking away everything but liquids/protein ( and in moderation ) from your body after a surgery, so you'll be tired and you can't be sure exactly how you'll react. That being said it has been easier that I expected. But, I have followed every rule/instruction!! I have gotten in my Water, my Protein and my Vitamins from day one.

    Aetna H. M. O. So Cal - Advice

Call and make sure your Aetna plan doesn't require the 90 day weight management plan ASAP. Found out mine did weeks after I got started because they missed it and didn't disclose that info up front. If they do maybe your PCP or the WL clinic can give you a dietician or whatever they do now why your waiting to see the surgeon, that's what I did. Being pre-approved doesn't eliminate the steps you have to finish before surgery day. Make sure to ask them questions. Especially the weight management program one because of time involved. Hope you don't have it, I don't know if all Aetna rules the same.

I know exactly how you feel! Even though I've had my surgery now, it's only been 4 weeks tomorrow. Still so new, exciting and in such a time of learning and lifestyle change. I haven't regretted it once. I've had no moments of panic or anything like that, just excitement over where I'll be 1 month, 3 months, 6 months and on from now. A slimmer healthier person. I truly couldn't be happier for you. Why do long to see surgeon? Who did you already meet with to get approved?

Agree with everything you said and one of the things I didn't mention I couldn't eat was potatoes, cake ... Rice, bread and a few other things was more because of in many people it causes problems long term. And because of some of those foods that swell and can lead to more stretching. So my doctor as well teaches moderation (although there are definitely some things she said to never touch again, soda) and says that one day I'll feel like I can eat just about anything I want in small portion, but just to be aware of the ones that are more prone to trigger changes that may lead to weight gain. I think we're saying the same thing and should be proud we're being diligent enough to listen and learn from the experts as well as our own bodies

Ashy and bewell This is why this support can be so great. I feel better right now just hearing someone else say that's how I feel too and others as well. This is s big deal! We've done a major thing physically and mentally that we hope we let change the rest of our life! I know I need to relax, but s little fear, will keep us mindful. You don't get big enough to have this surgery without having problems with food so of course we scared. I'm so glad I said it out loud earlier because you guys validated my feelings one, but two, pointed out that it needs to be controlled, not obsessed over. I appreciate the time you spend sharing

I'm signed up for no bread, no rice, Pasta or soda for life with my doc too. Was coached that you were never to go back to what people now consider "normal" eating. Never how we used to eat, that a large variety of foods would need to be eliminated for success and optimal health. That actually helps me and it makes me strong. I know if I allow those foods to creep back in, then I'll slowly increase and I can stretch my stomach with the old habits/cravings. Seeing everyone's thoughts, struggles, encouraging words etc gives lots to think about.

Oh, and I meant to say CONGRATS 31 is awesome! ???? I also am still thinking if diet at 23 days post op, I wasn't thinking of you being 6 weeks. It'll make more sense then.

I'm getting up to around 650-700 because I keep my protein so high. Sliders. That is confusing to me because how do you eat the puréed and soft food stage if you can't have things like mashed potatoes, steamed mashed vegetables, blended beans, cottage cheese, those types of things. Wouldn't that all be considered sliders or do I have it wrong? Doctors, nuts and diets are so different! I was told to add tuna and other soft blended solids 4-6 weeks. Is that being overly conservative compared to others?

    January Sleevers ❄️

I'm only 23 days post op so I'm not in to much variety yet. I'm still struggling with eating though but in a different way. I worry I'm eating too many beans, cottage cheese has sodium, mash potatoes is carbs. That kind of thing. I'm really obsessing too much on trying to be perfect! I stressed and worried over eating 5 ounces of cottage cheese/protein powder/and cilantro chutney last night. It's like I waited so long and want this so bad I'm afraid I'll fail at losing weight like I have so many times in the past. Fortunately besides seeing I'm really needing to relax a lot, I'm eating well, staying hydrated, working out and feeling as well as can be expected at this point. Anyone else feeling this way?

Very good advice that all should heed! Glad you're ok and sorry for the experience. I have a difficult time here too, and now take something every morning and evening and it has pushed me to workout more because only since I've started moving more has it gotten better.

    February 17th anyone?

I'm actually doing really well besides the face I just started having a little trouble with getting a few things down as easily as I could. Sounds like your having a little bit of a hard time, with a little more than the food part. Want to text or talk?

    February 17th anyone?

Graciesmom04, you're 3 weeks post op tomorrow if January 28th, . We're same day! That should make you feel even better about weight loss. Great job on weight loss since November, I'm living I did this. Still so new and huge learning curve, but all of you posting on this forum are great.

OMG lol thank goodness you told me this, I would have thought I was dying! I've been doing well and the last 3-4 days more trouble swallowing and having to slow down even Water intake. Top of my throat has a small area feels odd as well. Going to doc tomorrow. I also feel normal except when eating, I feel pretty great, no regrets! Down 27lbs total since pre-op diet, 14 since surgery. I realize that's great, just disappointed that nothing in past like 8-9 days. Seems odd...

I could lower my carbs more if I tried. I've been in ketosis for probably 6 weeks although I'm 3 weeks post op tomorrow. Energy level wakes me up early too. I lost 14 lbs like first 10 days and now have just fluctuated up and down a few lbs here and there for the last 10 days. I started working out pretty hard 3 days ago, that feels great and I think will jump start me. What do you call slow over 4.5 weeks?

Hi January sleepers that are a little more than a month out, How are you doing? Feeling? Healing? Weight loss? Emotions? Would love to hear a little about some of the phases your going through over the first 4-5 weeks. I'm 19 days and doing well although today a little emotional for the first time because of spasms.
