RedTulips, you'll do fine. I know you will. Don't be scared of the OR. They give you good drugs, you go to sleep, and when you wake up it's all over. Then by summer you'll be wearing shorts and a bathing suit and so glad you did it! Good Luck tomorrow. Diane

Congratulations. I hope I do as well as you. I had my pre-op this morning and my Dr said I can go home after if I want to, and I want to. So I hope I do as well as you. I have 8 days until the band. Hope all goes well for you.:clap2:

Can you please tell me if you can eat those frozen dinners like Lean Cusine or Healthy Choice? I am wondering if they are good food choices because they are only small portions. Do people eat those when they can start solids again? Are they a good choice? They have about 20 gms protein for the salmon or chicken. Thanks for your advise.:eek:

Thanks for your input. My Dr. says liquids for 2 weeks after the band, then mushies, then soldis week 3. I have pre-op on Monday so I'll ask about solids earlier. He does lots of RNY and sleeve proceedures and treats everyone the same.

Hi, I'm going to be banded on the 15th and I haven't noticed if anyone else had another surgery at the same time they were banded. I am having my ovaries removed at the same time the band is being placed. My friend just had ovarian cancer. My Mother died of breast cancer and since I am now in menopause, I thought I don't need these anymore and I want them out. So I am having them removed by the OB/Gyn and the band placed by the GI doc. Has anyone else had 2 proceedures at the same time? Did it make the recovery harder? Good luck to all those going before me in the next two weeks. I look forward to hearing how you are doing. Citygirl, my husband is a physician also. My surgery is scheduled for 7:30 am on the 15th. He told me he told the "girls" in his office to not schedule him until 10 that day. I said gee thanks, I try hard to breathe on my own so they can take the tube out before you go to work. I am paying for this myself. I think basically men are ass****. Someone else said their surgery was 2 weeks out and their husband a physician could not be there because he had patients scheduled. When my husband had his hip replaced I stayed with him the whole time and slept in the hospital. he didn't need to ask, I wanted to be there. It hurts me for you and all of us. We give to everyone, that's why we are in the position we are in. Do what is best for you. He is probably afraid when you loose weight you might see you are tired of caring for him without getting anything in return. We are here for you. I am sorry you are hurting. I am too and I'm alot older than you are. I am sorry he is being an ass, but do what is right for you.

Hi Songinmysoul, My surgery is on the 15th. I have my pre-op visit on the 11th. I weigh 216 and I do not have any pre op diet. So yeah for us! Good luck to you.

Thank you so much for your help. So, if I eat slowly, take small bites and chew well before I swallow I should be OK? I don't eat all day long now. Usually 3 x a day, but lunch or dinner is probably too much food. So I am sure this will help with portion control. I need to loose about 70#, but I'd be happy if it were only 50. I am scared to do this, but I see no other way to loose that much weight. I can't do it by myself. This site has been so helpful and you are all so great and I am so happy to have found this site. Thanks for all your thoughtful answers to my many questions. Diane
