May Sleevers, How much?
lexiemustang replied to Jessica Radcliff's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
HW (Ever in life) - 285 lbs SW - 267 lbs CW - 222 lbs Weight lost since starting this particular journey - 45 lbs. I haven't been as diligent as I should with exercise and diet. Since it's cooling off outside I am going to kick it into high gear. I'm 5 lbs away from being overweight instead of obese and halfway at goal. I'm pleased with my results, especially since I know I've been slacking. -
YES!!!!!! I was a runner at my pre surgery weight (267) and I've started back running about 2 months ago. I am AMAZED at how much easier it is to run without that extra 45 pounds. Stay with it. It sucks in the beginning but I promise it does get easier.

May Sleevers, How much?
lexiemustang replied to Jessica Radcliff's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sleeved 5/21. Counting my preop diet - I've lost 43 pounds (30 pounds since surgery). -
When I had my sleep study, the technician said the same thing to me. Then she turned around and recommended "diet and exercise." SMH...

Let's Talk: Fears?
lexiemustang replied to ShrinkingSaraVSG's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Staples in stomach = not so bad. The ones that were used for my incisions are healing nicely, and they didn't hurt coming out. Constipation - now that's another story... -
Someone told me that at work yesterday - "You weren't morbidly obese - girl you didn't need surgery!" Yeah I might not have been morbidly obese, but tell my joints and back that, please. Along with my hypertension. All of which have been alleviated since I had surgery.

Ladies, What Size Jeans Do You Wear?
lexiemustang replied to JamieLogical's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Weight - 230 Jean Size - "Regular" 14 Height - 5' 11.5" What's weird - I've weighed 230 during previous diet attempts and wasn't in a size 14. Either vanity sizing is getting worse or maybe I have more muscle this time around. I have no idea.... -
I haven't had to have mine removed yet but my gallbladder sent me to the ER about a week ago because it is "sludgy". If it continues to give me trouble, mine may have to come out.

Dr. Holden in dfw- other dfw Drs
lexiemustang replied to Shrinkmepls's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Dr. Holden did my surgery. She did an excellent job and it was one of the best decisions I've made in my life. The staff in the office has been very nice and helpful as well. I've only interacted with her a few times during this journey. IMO, her bedside manner leaves much to be desired. In the grand scheme of things, I guess we should be worried about whether or not the surgeon is skilled (which she is), but she didn't seem very warm and friendly. My insurance didn't require a 3 month supervised diet. I was approved with a "semi low" BMI (BMI was a 37 when I was approved) and comorbidities (sleep apnea, GERD, hypertension, joint pain). Just my two cents for what it's worth. Hope this helps! -

lexiemustang replied to carebear42's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Panniculectomy and/or tummy tuck questions and costs...

I definitely want both of these when I get close to goal weight. I've got a way to go though. I have a panniculus and I've never had children! WTF? -
EGD gone wrong
lexiemustang replied to D. Kennedy's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
OMG!!! I ate pizza!!! ....and apparently I don't chew my food well because the doc told me I ate pizza before I even had the chance to say anything, I was soooo embarrassed. I ate at 10 30pm and was scoped at 0800. I feel so much better thank you for your time! By the way...you are doing so awesome! I can't wait to be just like you. : ) Thank you! I appreciate it. -
EGD gone wrong
lexiemustang replied to D. Kennedy's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Additionally, here's where I think I went wrong before my EGD: My EGD was scheduled for 5am, the day before I was to start my pre-op diet. I was told to fast after midnight. (Thinking to myself that midnight to 5am isn't a large enough window, but I'm not a doctor and they know best). I gotta do it big since this is my last night of solid food for a while, right? I did it REAL BIG. I'm talking Prime Rib, Caesar salad, and cheesecake big. My "last meal" was at 8pm. Well - come EGD time - they can't do the procedure because there is food still in my stomach. Lesson learned - hopefully this helps someone who needs an EGD soon. Don't do what I did! -
EGD gone wrong
lexiemustang replied to D. Kennedy's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
They had me eat oatmeal that had something radioactive in it to see how long it stayed in my stomach. Since i was in the middle of my preop liquid diet it was the best dang oatmeal ive ever had in life, lol. After eating the oatmeal, they did a cat scan (i believe) about every hour until it digested (roughly 4 hours). It wasn't bad at all. -
EGD gone wrong

I had the same situation. I had to have a gastric emptying study shortly after my failed EGD. They didnt find any abnormalities and proceeded with my sleeve as planned. -
10 DAYS OUT, THINGS GOING TOO GOOD?
lexiemustang replied to skinnydawg73's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I felt the same way, but it did change once I got to solids. My biggest struggle is waiting between bites/not eating too fast. If you can get in that habit now, it will make the transition to solids easier. -

Fat Related Routines You Won't Miss
lexiemustang replied to The Candidate's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Always being late to an event or outing because I've tried on 8 million outfits, looking for clothes that don't make me "look fat". GIRDLES! UGH!!! Taking the long way down aisles/in stores/movies/etc because I don't want to disturb someone or say "excuse me" when I need to get by. -
Weird/worst Comment at Pre-op testing!
lexiemustang replied to Bndtoslv's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The exact same thing happened to me at my very first nutrition class. The funny part is that my BMI was 37 at the time so by no means low. My sleep apnea nurse also gave me the same "you're not big enough for surgery..". SMH -
