Hello everyone! I was sleeved in May of 2015, and since being sleeved I've moved from Dallas to Atlanta. I called my bariatric doctor and asked for a referral in the Atlanta area, and they would not provide another doctor I could attend for post op appointments. Has anyone had to do this post op and what was their experience? Will doctors even be willing to take on patients where they didn't perform the surgery? I don't really want to go back and forth to Dallas for my follow up visits. Also, if anyone has recommendations for bariatric doctors in the Atlanta area, I'd appreciate it.

Get ready for the questions. Most people that know you've had surgery won't ask why you're not eating (the ones that do know but ask anyway, just remind them you've had 80% of your stomach removed) - but the ones that don't know will ask why you're not eating, or if that's all you're going to eat - or if they don't ask, they WILL NOTICE. I usually state that "I ate before I came out" to keep the questions at bay, which usually works.

Starting out - my BMI was at a 37, and after the pre-op diet, I was at 34.7 the day of surgery. My progress has been very very slow. However, I am 14 pounds away from goal, and I am a year 6 months out. I don't have a lot of loose skin, but my boobies look SAD! And I've always had a panniculus so I see a tummy tuck in my future. (I did have insurance - my insurance approved based on my BMI at the time my file was submitted, which was 3 months before surgery).

Did the repair change anything for your surgery? I have to have one too. I'm with Dr. Holden at Kim's. Sent from my SM-N900T using the BariatricPal App Dr Holden was my surgeon too. I didn't have a hernia repair - but she did an awesome job.

I had to remove mine (the right nipple was pierced) for VSG, and the hole closed. Hopefully I'll get it redone after plastics.

Hello Everyone - I'm one year 3 months post op, and I've probably had depression most of my life. I've never tried any medication to deal with my depression, just "suffered through it" most of my life. I decided recently that enough is enough and informed my PCP that I wanted to try meds. She prescribed Prozac. Anyone have any experiences post-op dealing with Prozac or any other antidepressants? I know most people are looking to come off meds after bariatric surgery - not go ON them.

You may notice a difference right away. I've been treated for depression since my early twenties. Pay attention to what you feel and how you. Oh and a piece of advice. Take your happy pill in the evening. It may make you sleepy. MsShortyDee I've been on them for a few months now. The difference in my mood and anxiety is amazing.

Very good question...pre-op I would use it occasionally for digestive health. I tried googling it (the sleeve and diatomaceous earth), and couldn't find much information

I'm at my goal size (Size 12 - but not my goal weight), and there are days where I still feel huge. Plus, I'm still shaped the same, just smaller overall. I wonder what it would take so I don't feel that way anymore? Therapy is helping, but it's another daily battle that I'm fighting.

I am one year five months post op and the biggest struggle of this whole process has been mental. It gets easier, but it never goes away. Hang in there.

This is an issue for me since surgery. I keep thinking of things I need to "fix" (my boobs, my arms, my butt, my chin, etc. etc.). Enough is enough! I have to become happy with me just the way I am.

I started taking them today. I know it takes a few weeks for the medication to kick in, so here's to patience.

I had a cast Iron stomach before surgery. Very rarely would food make me ill. Post op, things don't make me "sick" per se (no nausea, vomiting) but I never know what will send me to the bathroom. And it changes from day to day. Also, before surgery (sorry if TMI), but if I had to have a BM and I was out in public/mall/running/shopping/whatever, I could "hold" it until I got home. Not anymore - gotta go gotta go! And sometimes when I gotta go, my tummy cramps. I definitely didn't have that kind of urgency pre-op. As far as complications are concerned, my recovery was fabulous. I didn't feel bad at all. My gallbladder did have to be taken out about 9 months post-op.

Make sure you have shakes everywhere you go. I'd take extras with you just in case. If you let yourself get hungry and you don't have a shake with you, that's when trouble sets in... Sent from my LG-D850 using the BariatricPal App

Mine have been reduced (I'm down to 5mg Bystolic and 40 mg Valsartan) but I'm in the "genetic HBP" camp, so I may never be completely off blood pressure medication. Sent from my LG-D850 using the BariatricPal App
