  1. The hardest part for me was that with any surgery there is always a risk and i went back and forth with that. I have a family and it was hard for me to make the decision.
  2. @@MoMo12onTheGo - Wow, talk about speeding up the process going from 6 to 3 months what an emotional roller coaster, but exiting. May will be here sooner than we know.
  3. @@Rocky1 The packet my NUT has given me states the following for Pre and Post Op: 2 weeks Pre & 2 weeks Post: Liquid Diet: High Protein Meal Replacement shakes (Bariatric shakes approved only)(can be mixed with milk or water). Also, Jello, broth, and sugar free pops can be taken.2-8 weeks post: Soft Proteins: such as Greek yogut, cottage cheese, eggs, Beans, string cheese, luncheon meats, canned tuna or chicken ....and so on. 2 months post surgery: Introduction of fresh cooked meats such as chicken breast, ground turkey, fresh fish, and veggies and fruit.6 months post surgery: Continue protein choices, veggies, fruits and intro to starches/whole grains.I hope this helps!
  4. My Doc also stated that Pre Op will be two weeks before surgery, ALL liquid DIET. When I first started this journey in Nov I was so determined and motivated that I was on information overlaod. Reading everything I could and trying to learn everything I could, to prepare me for pre and post surgery. I had a bump in the road with my insurance becuase they changed the requirements in 2015 from 3 to a 6 month weight check and this threw me for a loop (since I had everything done). I was on an emotional roller coaster for 1 week and second week I started feeling better, but during this time I was still doing everything the Nut asked that I do and eat. The only thing I did stop doing is walking on the treadmil, which I am focused just trying to get back that 100% motivation. Which is where I'm at now. I eat 1400 calorie meals (veggie and Protein and very little of the extra). I feel like I'm on auto pilot right now and going forward just trying to get to the finish line before the real journey begins. What about you ladies, how has your journey been?
  5. I feel ya! You should be super mad, I would too and it's only normal. After a day or two when you see a lighter shade of red, becuase you will prob still be upset just think about it a little more, but dont give up. Keep it moving, I'm sure it will work itself out. I had a situation about two weeks ago where I finished all the req. and had the paparwork submitted to have it kicked back due to BC having new 2015 requirements (requirements changed from 3 month weight monitoring to 6 month weight monitoring). I was origionally told that the new rules would go into effect until March, so I felt hopeless as well when I found out. I felt my body in a rage and I was in tears becuase it's one thing when you dissapoint yourself, but when someone else dissapoints you after you have done your part, that was the worst for me. So i hear ya but take a day or two then think about it, then do what's best for you.

    May 2015 Sleevers?

    I'm here. May 11 or 18th
  7. How exiting, our month will be here sooner than we know it! Of course I dont feel that way at the moment, but at this point I'm on cruise control. I've already been through the emotional roller coaster: I was origionally going to have surgery in March but BC changed their requirements in 2015 going from 3 months to 6 month weight check...everything happends for a reason and now i'm happy to be a May sleever especially since my Bday is in May.
  8. I know exactly what you're going through, I just finished my 4th weight check (2 more to go April 15 end date). I feel like it's an emotional roller coaster, but much needed. I'm taking the time to mentally prep (like others): I cut out starches started walking 15-20 minutes 3 x per week 64 oz Water intake high Protein, low sugar meals Sometimes- food measure replace Breakfast w high protein low sugar shake 1200-1400 calorie intake per day (i'm doing 1400 calories but goal of 1200) Getting the family to be healthier as well. Take advantage of the info your nut gives you. This will only make the journey after surgery easier.
  9. Past the hump ready to keep moving forward

  10. I just finished crying becuase I've been waiting for 2 weeks to get approval from insurance and coordinator just told me my paperwork was kicked back (not rejected) due to BC (CALIFORNIA) 2015 new regulations. I worked so hard to get everything done and dr's office supposably didnt know new rules were going into effect starting 2015. Coordinator states they were told rules would apply starting in March. I'm doing so good with my diet and motivated that I dont want this to slow me down, it just plain SUCKS! I'm all about choices and if i would have known, then I would have spread out all my requirements. Anyhow, I'm a fighter (not in the ring), so I guess anything good is worth waiting for (this is me making the best of it). Anybody know any details on the new requirements (Anthem BC CA)? Super mad face
  11. Mad...and sad w/ insurance co....and the world right about now.

The toughest days pre-op. Even more than waiting for "the big day" IMO

I was told it takes 5-7 business days for authorzation and 7 day is up. I called insurance and they told me that the paperwork was resubmitted on Friday due to some issues. That means the 5-7 business day period starts all over as of Friday. Frustrated, but I guess anything good is worth waiting for....trying to stay positive.

    I have a surgery date!

Congrats! You are on your way girl. I'm waiting for my date, today is the 5th day since paperwork was submitted to insurance. I think if all goes well, we should be sleeved around the same day.

    Waiting For Approval

I'm on the same boat, papework was submitted yesterday to the insurance. Good luck!
  15. I personally have not, but a good friend of mine did and she said he did a great job. She looks great too. I origionally wanted to have P.Leport do my surgery due to good ratings on the web but my primary referred me to S. Hamamji which so far I'm happy with.

    BCBS Anthem Insurance approval

Congrats!!!!! I have Anthem BCBS California and my paperwork was submitted yesterday, so just waiting anxiously. Do you have HMO or PPO?
  17. I'm on the same boat as you, i had the 3 month weight monitoring and paperwork will be submitted today or Monday. I'm so nervous now that it's a waiting game. Good luck!
  18. Update: the Coordinator didnt feel good about submitting paperwork due to lack of notes, so I will be getting an amendment from doctor. Monday paperwork will be submitted and I will then feel confident. So anothone reading this, if you dont feel comfortable about any step of the process, speak up and do what makes sense for you.
  19. Thanks in advance for listening. I finished all requirements for HMO Blue Cross-CA (3 month weight monitoring plus all the extras) and papework will be submitted today/tomorrow. My only concern is 1 out of 3 of the weight checks the doctor only wrote basic info like weight, vitals, and stated consult was for weight check. He also has down all the testing he submitted and the referral, but no notes like i have been trying to loose weight for x amount of time, ect... has anyone gone through this? I'm stressed that they will reject. The 2 & 3 visit have great notes, so that makes me feel somewhat better, my BMI is 47, but no other issues.
  20. Your right, i probably dont have anything to worry about, just nervs. Thank you!
  21. I have my final weigh in this week, so Friday the papework will be submitted to insurance for approval. If all goes well, I should have my surgery end of Feb or early March. I started eating healthy and light work out (very light since I'm limited on time due to kids) that way it's not a shocker when I do the 2 week pre surgery liquid diet. GOOD LUCK ON YOUR JOURNEY!!!
