My surgeon said I would be spending 2 nights in the hospital as well. Although I have pain meds prescribed not sure I will be using them though if I really dont need to. Pain meds can constipate you. At my last visit I did ask about pain and they compared it to my 3 c sections. They said the pain would be less than the pain I felt from them. My first c section hurt a lot and I took pain meds but my incision was infected. My 2nd and 3rd c sections where not too bad. There was pain but tolerable pain and i did not take pain meds. I have heard other who have already had their surgery say the pain wasn't to bad. So I think you will be fine with tylonol. Just think postitive. You will be okay and you will do great.

I have been lucky so far, my significant other has been very supportive of my choice to have wls. He did voice his concerns about elective surgeries but said if this is what I really want he supports me 100%! Surgery of any kind can be scary period for ourselves but even more scary for those sitting or pacing in the waiting room. He knows I want to do this to be a healthier me, to be able to enjoy life more now, be able to run around with my grand child that is on the way, and be able to go to the amusement park this year and get on some of the rides with him that I was too big to get on before. He jokes with me and tells me "please dont lose your butt" so I promised many squats will be done. Lol I get compliments now and he knows it and he knows there is no place I'd rather be than in his arms. I think the key to success is to make sure the attention and compliments with each other are already something happening in your relationship and then make sure to continue it after the procedure too and you both will be fine. We are all embarking on a new chapter in our lives that will be filled with many ups and downs. We are going to be emotional roller coasters. After surgery I think it is very important for both of you to flirt with each other and often. I am sure you will have no concerns as long as you reinforce your commitment and love to him. Just always keep in mind this change isn't happening to just you, it's happening to you and all that are close to you. Positive thoughts will win. Good luck on your weight loss journey.

During the sleep study if you wake up and have to pee you just let them know and they will help. Once home and on the machine though(if it's needed for you) you simply detach the hose from the mask and go to the bathroom when done attach the hose and go back to sleep -

I have sleep apnea. I also felt how am I gonna be able to sleep with these wires and cameras bit you do sleep. My room was set up like a hotel so it wasn't so hospital looking. I have the CPAP machine as well. It took a little getting used to because i was worried about pulling the tube out when i toss and turn. My boyfriend however, says I have become a pro in my sleep. Without even knowing I'm doing it I fling that tube around so I can move, he also loves that my snoring has stopped. It does help with sleep though and before you know it you will wonder how you slept without it. My surgeon said I must be compliant with using my machine because ot helps them during surgery too. If you are compliant he said it helps with being able to intubate during surgery. -
I will update after my appointments for those who are interested. Thank you all for your responses.

I do realize that WLS is just a tool and I will have to make a lot of changes in the way I eat and the amount of exercise I will have to do. I have never thought of this as an easy way out i know it requires work. My nutrionist basically is prepping me to learn to eat now the way I will after surgery. I understand that. What i meant by "for the most part" was in the 2 wks since i have seen her I have made changes but there were a couple times I didn't do exactly as told. Meaning: she suggested i give up soda and juice, start eating my protein first at meals, with my long 2 hr commute to work each way she suggested I stop going to fast food to eat on the run and instead replace breakfast with a protein shake and a banana and since some nights I don't even walk in the door at home until 8pm, she suggested I prep meals ahead and bring them with me to eat on my ride home if I need to. This was not hard to follow just trying to make it a habit. So where I messed up was when I had the 24hr flu I did drink ginger ale and juice that day. There were a couple days I was not scheduled to work late and was held over so I didn't eat dinner until I got home, but for the most part I followed her suggestions. As for weight loss it has only been 2 wks I am not sure if I lost anything or not. So im just nervous because I don't want her to think I am not following or trying to make these changes.

I am a little nervous today. I started my journey on January 13, 2015. My first appointment being with the surgeon, then on to the upper GI, blood work, and an ultrasound of liver and gall bladder. I didn't need the sleep study because i already have sleep apnea and sleep with my handy dandy darth Vader Machine. Two weeks ago i met with my bariatric doctor and the nutritionist, I got the green light from the doctor but the nutritionist wanted me to try losing some weight by giving up soda and supplimenting my breakfast with a protein shaake. I am neverous I will admit! I have for the most part followed her directions but don't think I have lost any weight. I am nervous because she told me she could hold up the process to surgery if she wanted to. I don't have weight restrictions for my insurance. My question I have is, has anyone had to deal with the nutrionist holding the surgery off for long if there isnt weight loss before surgery? My surgeon said as long as all goes well the approval process with my insurance would take a couple weeks and he would say probably looking at end of March for surgery. Well I'm off to my appointment with the psychologist this morning and the nutrionist this afternoon. I am praying there is some loss on that scale today.
