    Tummy Tuck Over 60?

Definitely will have "body contouring" and probably a face lift also at some point.

    65 and over

Had my surgery on June 10th at Baylor University Medical Center Dallas TX. Everything went great. Care from preop through discharge was excellent. Pain and nausea controlled and no vomiting. Surgery by Dr. Matthew Westmoreland was just an hr. Took only 4 doses of liquid narcotic and Zofran sublingual after I went home. Able to sleep on side 2nd night. Able to sleep on stomach the 16th and water started feeling normal going down. BP med discontinued 6/24. Started soft diet on 6/24. Have been taking nap most afternoons. Incisions great-several already fading.6/26 was pain free when bending over to tie shoes. Happy, happy, happy and no regrets. Down 50 lbs from highest weight and 19lbs since surgery.

Had my sleeve on 10th. 4 days post op doing pretty well. No pain or anti-nausea med x 2 days. Dr said it was one of "easiest" surgeries he'd done whatever that means! So June will have 2 big days on my calendar, my birthday and my surgery day.

    Helicopter Bacteria

I had to be treated for Hpylori. Had no symptoms either. I had 3 meds one a PPI. Made me horribly nauseated. Had to use an anti nausea patch. Could only eat carbs, starches and some yogurt, cheese. Then after 4 wks had the breath test to make sure bacteria gone. I was praying I wouldn't have to have another round of antibiotics.

    Calling All Sixties!

Hoping for my VSG 2-3rd wk of June. Will be 67. Already feeling better since started preop. Have lost nearly 30 lbs, have been doing weight and strength training with personal trainer 3x wk for over 3 months and am doing 250-300 min of cardio weekly. I wanted to get started getting healthier before my surgery. I'm hoping this will help me recuperate quicker after surgery. I'm already thrilled that pain in a hip is gone and I don't get out of breath as quickly. I want to get off high blood pressure medicine ASAP and be "med free."

FYI: To help with fluids and protein intake try ProHydrate raspberry lemonade. It has 20gm protein (Whey isolate) in 11oz. It's not overwhelmingly sweet (uses Stevia). Can be frozen into Popsicles. My nut says it's one of the most natural of the protein drinks.

    Food funeral...

I've worked so hard to get my processed food, refined carb addiction under control, I don't want to "re-awaken the beast." So no food funerals. Plus I want my surgery admission weight to be in 290s so even though I have no more official insurance required weigh-ins, I want to have some more weight loss. Trying to keep my head in a good place as I'm starting on my post-op WLS journey. I saw a big old fresh fluffy croissant but my goals are bigger than a croissant that won't give me any long-term pleasure but more pounds gone will.
  11. Big Opie. I'm curious. Why can't you get the required tests and visits done now through July 2nd. I got all mine before my last dietician visit. After I finished that visit my paperwork was submitted. I had my approval then in a wk. Will get my date on June 2nd. Yeah!!!! Best of luck. Stay strong.

I will be 67 when I have my VSG HOPEFULLY 3rd week of June. I have/had relatives who lived well-well into their late nineties. I'd like a chance to do that, too. Have high BP now but I know chances to develop other problems are great if I continue on the path I'm on. Looking forward to continuing this journey I started in mid Feb preoperatively. Hope to get more interest on this forum

    Anybody older doing this?

I will be 67 when I get my VSG. I have family members who lived well- into their late 90s so I want to do the same. I've been going to fitness center for over 4 months, have personal trainer 3x/wk for 3 hrs and try to get in 300 min of cardio weekly. I wanted to try to get in better shape before surgery hopefully 3rd wk of June. My trainer even had me start to do squats, lunges and kicks. Can't believe I could do any of that because I have worst case of couch potato-itis and fight it everyday. I just wish I'd considered it earlier but I kept saying I can do this on my own and felt I was a failure if I had WLS. I had my dr encourage me and he emphasized that surgery didn't mean I was a failure but was doing something positive for my life.
