How much can you eat? (volume/weight wise)
SlimJill posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am curious how much everyone can eat at one given time. 2oz? 4oz? 8oz? more? The most I've ever eaten is 4oz at one time at 2 months post-op, and I'm wondering if that is full capacity or no? I generally don't push myself to eat more because I've never been sick after surgery and don't wanna be. Also please state how far out you are. -
How much can you eat? (volume/weight wise)
SlimJill replied to SlimJill's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Usually I weigh everything I eat so I won't push it, but occasionally when eating I will get an uncomfortable feeling in my chest and know to stop. I would imagine that food is sitting on top of my already full stomach and thus creates a "pain" but I'm not a doctor so who knows. -
I had the same issue and ended up going with Dr. Kahlil Shillingford in Boca Raton Florida. His self pay price was $10,500 which is one of the cheapest I've seen in the states. He is an excellent surgeon, I highly recommend him!

No one is noticing:-(
SlimJill replied to ridingrae's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am a little bit afraid of this myself. I will be seeing my old coworkers for the first time at the end of this month, it will be 3 months since they've seen me and I will be about 50 pounds lighter... At first I started to worry, should I tell them I had surgery if they ask what I did? But then even worse... what if they don't notice at all! Also, how and where do you guys make those BMI timelines, surgery timelines, weight timelines at the bottom of your posts? I've been wanting to make them but can't figure out where to do it! -
Would like to ask about no fluids 30mins pre/post food.
SlimJill replied to NthQldAus's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've always been a huge Water drinker, but had to change that post-op. My surgeon said drinking before eating is okay, even all the way up to your first bite because the liquid passes very quickly. But once you start eating you should wait at least 30-60 minutes before drinking to prevent dumping. If I have very dry mouth I will take a sip of water, swoosh it around and spit it out until I'm past the 30 minute mark. -
WL @ 1 month post-op?
SlimJill replied to bigfatgoodbye's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lost 21 pounds in the pre-op, 5 pounds the first week, and then hit a near 3 week stall after that. Luckily now at 8 weeks post-op I haven't had another stall *fingers crossed* -
Nuts: Peanuts, Almonds, Cashews, etc.
SlimJill replied to BizzyB's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started eating nuts about 5 weeks out, had no issues at all. I eat them almost daily now at 8 weeks out. Almonds and cashews are my go-to snack or on-the-go food. -

What is your channel called on youtube? I would love to follow you. I've thought about doing videos myself but not sure if I should start them since I am already almost 2 months post op... -

Post op & eating in public!
SlimJill replied to maxinee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 7 weeks post-op and just ate out for the first time this weekend. I order a Water and a coconut shrimp appetizer. The water came with a straw and I completely forgot that's not allowed so I drank from it and then could only eat 2.5 shrimp. I took home the rest, no weird looks from the waitress, and the people I was with knew about my surgery. Shrimp went down fine... although fried... and the way I see it is this is my new life, not my diet. I felt no guilt for those shrimp and I continue to experiment with food (in little amounts) just the way my sleeve intended. -
This applied to me pre-surgery! DIED of laughter the first time I saw it!

How many calories are you getting?
SlimJill replied to Sara51692's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's kind of funny to me, I used to eat more calories in 1 meal than I do now in 1 day... and it feels almost impossible to get 600-800 at 6 weeks out! I'm not hungry but force myself to eat every meal. I average around 450 on a slow day, or 600 on a big eating day. -
And a few more about working out and losing weight in general as WLS meme's are hard to find!

My surgery is scheduled for May 11th, only 7 days away! This pre-op diet is a real b***h though... my surgeon required a 2 week Protein shake diet, and only a bit of grilled chicken if I had a headache... I will admit, because I must keep myself accountable, I have cheated 3 times. Tortilla chips on day 2, 4 oreos on day 4, and half a milky way on day 5... As a disclaimer I did not intentionally buy these foods or have them around but I live with roommates and these were all things they put in the "freebie" basket. I walked past them once, twice, a dozen times... but eventually I caved. Now that being said, I don't think I've done a horrible job overall as I have lost 11.2 pounds in 7 days. And since the last hiccup I have been perfect. I suppose I wanted to write this topic because I have this overwhelming sense of "I JUST WANT TO EAT!" So much so that I can't wait for the surgery to happen because that is sooner I get to eat normal food. I wanted to leave the food addict behind but it seems to be lurking within me more than ever. I find myself watching food videos, looking at grocery store ads online, etc. My question to you all is... how many of you feel this way? how many of you felt this way prior to surgery and how are dealing with things now?

Also, I think you should look for something that is mostly liquor and not sugary mixers. Like a cosmopolitan

Sorry, just now read your last post. I think after a few months like 6 or more you could have a drink or two... I plan to have 1 drink on my 21st birthday but not crazy as you said.

As a 20 year old girl I will say I never had much of a social life in college because my weight always held me back from feeling confident and making friends... so I'm not losing anything from abstaining from alcohol right now. Plus for me there was NOTHING more important than getting surgery, losing weight, and creating a new life for myself. My job. My school. My friends and family. Everything in my life was put on hold so I could make myself happy. If you don't feel like surgery trumps social life and drinking... maybe you shouldn't get the surgery at all.

Sad about missing food
SlimJill replied to Mcgann320's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I definitely think moving onto soft foods stage will make your chew and spit habit go away. It did for me! Once I could eat cheese, tuna fish, crab, shrimp, chicken, etc it became A LOT easier. It gets better! That liquid diet was horrible! -
Sad about missing food
SlimJill replied to Mcgann320's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Tonight was so difficult. I am 5 weeks post-op and my parents ate pizza hut pizza tonight. I wanted to say "please don't buy it, please don't bring it around me" but I know it isn't fair to expect others to change their lives as I have... when it took surgery for me to change. I was literally almost in tears, shaking, irritable, fidgeting. Pizza hut used to be my crack, I used to eat a whole pizza in 1 sitting by myself. Was very hard to sit there eating my lean Protein and smelling their pizza... But I did it. We need to Celebrate our little victories too. I'm fighting an addiction. And I've got to say I'm doing damn good so far! -
Opps, forgot to say I changed my username, before it was Jillian Boose. I was already in the challenge Hi! Do you have a goal weight? Thanks!
