pregnancy after sleeve
nybariatricgirl replied to onmyway1978's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
Hello all, i'm currently 25 weeks pregnant (just started my 7th month, 3rd trimester in 2 weeks!!) and i am 20 months post-op. I was 14 months post op when i got pregnant. I had lost 150lbs. To date i have gained 9lbs. I'm right on track to gain only 15-25 lbs. aiming for 15-20. Baby is doing great. I had an emergency gallbladder removal surgery at 16 weeks, presumably because of the strain of excessive weight loss AND being pregnant which both on their own can cause major gallstones to form, which they did. Other than that pregnancy has been super easy and happy. No complaints. I have a cute belly but haven't gained anywhere else.. Legs, face, arms all look the same which i never in my wildest dreams thought would ever happen (i always assumed i'd blow up like a balloon). My doctor does not consider me high risk and my VSG hasnt effected my pregnancy in any negative way. Im 29 and this is my first child. Questions welcome. Congrats to everyone! -
I am currently 4 months (16+ weeks) pregnant and had my sleeve in October 2013. (I was 14 months out and 3-4 months maintaining a 150lb loss when I got pregnant). I've had a very smooth and easy pregnancy. I had a Mirena IUD for years, had it removed 13 months post-op and got pregnant right away. I just had emergency gallbladder removal surgery as i had 4 gallbladder attacks (stones and blockages) in 3 weeks. I've always had stones since high school but a 150 lb weight loss and pregnancy exacerbated the condition. Baby and momma are both doing great. In reference to weight gain. I have actually lost about 7-8 lbs since I learned i was pregnant (i had gained 15 lbs from my absolute lightest). My doctor isn't concerned AT ALL. With constant nausea it is challenging for any pregnant woman to eat. I get constant bloodwork to ensure that me and my baby are getting the nutrients we need, which we are. No pregnant woman should be "eating for two". This is what puts women in the category of gaining too much weight during pregnancy. The priority is getting all the nutrients necessary, not eating bigger quantities. If anything i think my sleeve is letting me have a healthier pregnancy by not allowing me to gain too much weight, specifically fat. I'm sticking to my goal of 15-20 lbs weight gain by delivery. Meaning my weight gain will be primarily if not all baby and the extra blood, fluids, placenta etc. which should weigh around 15lbs. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. I am a first time mom and am 28 years old.

Worst "compliment" you have gotten since surgery

Also totally forgot my most recent one. My mom has always been nasty to me about my weight. I was fat since i was about 12. She never gave me positive attention or bought me anything. After losing weight she started buying me lots of clothes because she is "so proud of me" i had to ask her to stop because she was spending too much money on me. Her reply is that she wants to and is happy to do it because she "refused" to buy me clothes when i was a "certain size" and that she "couldn't bring herself to do it". Meanwhile i've always been overweight despite constant efforts with diet and exercise. I no longer feel bad about her spending money on me. Lol Silver lining, she acknowledged my suspicions over the years that she was treating me like that my whole life maliciously and on purpose. -
Worst "compliment" you have gotten since surgery

My husbands Aunt asked if we would be getting married again so i could wear a slinky dress and get pictures retaken. He curtly explained that he felt i was beautiful at our wedding and we wouldnt change a thing. We were married about a year prior to getting my surgery. I needed his insurance post wedding for coverage. Now down 150 lbs., a year and 5 months out of surgery and 3 months pregnant. My biggest pet peeve is people thinking it's okay to talk about how fat i was like i'm not the same human being. -
Pregnant Mama Check-in

I am 15 months out from surgery and am nearly 5 weeks pregnant. I lost 150 lbs in my first year. Have gained back about 15 lbs but i'm slowly losing it naturally by eating healthier and exercising more for baby. Had my IUD removed in November and conceived on Christmas. Not too many symptoms yet other than peeing all the time, and a feeling of fullness in my uterus.
