God then created a light, fluffy white cake, named it "Angel food Cake," And said, "It is good." Satan then created chocolate cake and named it "Devil's Food." God then brought forth running shoes so that His children might lose those extra pounds. And Satan gave cable TV with a remote control so Man would not have to toil changing the channels. And Man and Woman laughed and cried before the flickering blue light and gained pounds. Then God brought forth the potato, naturally low in fat and brimming with nutrition. And Satan peeled off the healthful skin and sliced the starchy center into chips and deep-fried them. And Man gained pounds. God then gave lean beef so that Man might consume fewer calories and still satisfy his appetite. And Satan created McDonald's and its 99-cent double cheeseburger. Then said, "You want fries with that?" And Man replied, "Yes!And super size them!" And Satan said, "It is good." And Man went into cardiac arrest. God sighed and created quadruple bypass surgery. Then Satan created HMOs. Thought for the day ...... There is more money being spent on breast implants and Viagra today Than on Alzheimer's research. This means that by 2040, there should be a large elderly population with perky boobs and huge erections and absolutely no recollection of what to do with them.

My husbands company offered that and PHCS. I think they are both about the same. The reason why we didn't go with Beechstreet was because it only covered 1 hospital and all of our Dr.s are from the other. I am happy with my insurance right now and I haven't heard any complaints from the other employee's about Beechstreet. Give them a call they'll tell you if they cover it or not. Good luck.

I have been on my pre-op liquid diet for 10 days now. I have this horrible taste in my mouth. I feel like my teeth have a film over them. Is this keytosis (I have no clue how to spell that one) Is it pre- op gitters going into my mouth? How do I get rid of this? Will I have this after the surgery for a long time? It feel slimmy? Am I just wierd?

OK no more mashed potatoes for me! But I gotta tell you I sure bacame a much nicer person after that...lol....

I freaked out this weekend! Was terrified! Not to the point of backing out but just the whole aftercare thing, plus I'm going on a cruise on 10/14. So will I be feeling ok able to eat and swim. Then yesterday I went to my Dr, who I hope stayes in Charlotte for the rest of my life! He sad with me and my husband for over an hour answering all of my questions. I have such peace now! Moments of Anxiety, BIG MOMENTS, but I know in my heart this is the right thing for me to do, and I also know I have the right Dr doing it to me. Yes lets stay in touch!

WOW that liver cracking and bleeding story is enough for me! Try to really taste what your eating. Listen to the texture. You will notice that after a few bites the taste isn't there anymore and your just eating cause it's there. I'm on a 2 week liquid right now. Surgery on MONDAY AHHH, but over the yrs of eating I have remembered, at times, to really taste what I'm eating and when I stopped tasting it, STOP EATING IT. Well if I had stayed with that way of eating I wouldn't be here. But I remembered it at one of my many last suppers and it sure slowed me down for the rest. Good luck!

Hey I'm the same day as you. Congrats! Do you have to do any preop stuff? I've been on a liquid diet since 9/12. I'm making it, and haven't killed anyone in my family yet, although if they keep leaving thier dishes in the sink I might have to! I wonder if anyone else is having it on the 26th?

Kim don't you need to change your ticker!!! Bye the way guys, since I'll never have a ticker, I can tell you all, I've lost 11pounds since last Monday. Which really means a total of 13 since, well July. So I did go on the scale again today, but that is the last time until I go to the HOSPITAL on Monday! Holy COW! MONDAY.... Anyway, I can make it there at 11, I will have to leave about 12, but at least we will all be together for a little while. Just please give me directions...

Not much at all but some. We went out with the inlaws and I planned all day on sometype of cream soup for dinner. I only had 1 protien shake and a puffing today so that was a total of 270 calories. Then we went to this restuarnt and the 1st thing they tell me is they have an Italian clam chowder......yuk!.....Then they have the NERVE to bring us this wonderful bread with garlic and rosemary on it. So I had a few bites!....then the thought of the soup made me feel ill so I ordered flounder. I ate about 1/4 of it. The everyone wanted creme brulee, my absolute most favorite thing in the WORLD! So I had 3 small bites. I know alot of people have lean cuisines and other stuff during this phase. I could really kick my self for doing this but I still think I must be under 1500 calories for the day. Well this truly was my last supper! From now on we are calling ahead to see what kind of soup they have! I did discover a really yummy smoothie this morning..Starr try this! I took crushed ice, 1 cup of fat free diet vanilla yogart and the package of fuzzy navel nectar protien. Threw it all in the smoothie maker and enjoyed every second of it.

Can I be a pain? Could we meet earlier? I think I have to go to Columbia to see the inlaws that day. The appointment went GREAT!! I'm excited and ready to go! God has lead me to do this surgery. Believe me it was all his idea. He also lead me to DrV. I will be praying like you Kim that he will be near by. He sure wants to be. I am so excited! AHH this time next week!!! Melissa and Starr you girls are right around the corner! NO MORE POPCORN STARR! night night. Oh Kim, I will be down town tomorrow morning I have to morning appointments. So were are you all? My emotions are at about a 10! I can't wait to meet with Dr V tomorrow and get my ?'s answered! Starr how is day 2 of your liquids? I'm doing good today I'm at 715 calories so far. Trying to figure out if I want soup again or a shake... I gotta say today I feel like I might have lost a little, but who knows.

Does this happen much and is it always so serious?

I'm on the liquids to right now. Yesterday I discovered the BEST smoothie..I used the nectar fuzzy navel protien powder 1 cup fat free vanilla yogurt ad of course ice. smoothed it away and it was GREAT!!! I can't wait to go get more of that powder.
