    4 days post op

Thankyou for replying... Yes blood thinning injections - they are evil! I just expected to be feeling better by now, not worse. But it's reassuring to know it's not just me. Thanks. :-)

    Being put under

I'd never been put under before and was very very scared. But the theatre staff were lovely, making jokes etc. they but a mask on my face, told me to breathe deeply.... Then I woke up in recovery. Very strange. I knew nothing about what went on.

    Are the drains painful?

For me, the drain was the worst part. But, like you, I had a real fear about it before I went in and was really hoping I wouldn't have one. I was mortified when I found I'd got one. It didn't hurt while it was in. But taking it out was vile. I had surgery Friday pm and the drain was taken out Saturday pm, so 24 hours.
  7. Advice please. Today was my first day home, after 2 nights in hospital, it's bedtime here now. Today I have managed quite a lot of water, a cup of tea, quarter cup of tomato soup and a yogurt. Am I pushing it too much? I'm on full liquids for 2-4 weeks. I feel rubbish but I think that's a combination of migraine, sore incisions and gas. What should I be doing at this stage? Thanks

    I'm sleeved!

It's 1:45 am here in the uk. I had to get to hospital at 7am Friday 27th feb, they finally took me for the op at 3pm, and I came round about 6:45 pm - I thought that was a long time? So it's 6 hours since I woke up, I feel ok, pain is manageable. I've vomited blood 3 times, I have a drain which is the sorest bit. I've just walked to have a big wee :-) so far I'm drinking Water with no issues. Just drifting in and out of sleep now. I thought I'd do an update as it happens so newbies had an idea what to expect. I'd lost 8lbs on my 9 day pre op diet, and my liver was nice he said. I just wanna see my kids now :-(

    I'm sleeved!

I've had my drain out today, that was pretty horrible. But at least it's done now, so much easier getting to the loo :-) I could have gone home if I wanted, but have decided to stay in till the morning as I feel rough. Your date will soon be here :-)

    I'm sleeved!

I went through the hospital group, and am at Spire Parkway Solihull :-) my surgeon is Mr Nijjar. He is so calm and kind, he really puts you at ease. Who are you going through? :-)

Cheated every day of 7 day pre op diet

I ate "food" all through my pre op. My surgeon said it just had to be less than 800 calories a day. So I stuck to slim fast, low fat soup, quorn fillets, yogurt, and one day I had 2 eggs and mushrooms, another I had a banana. I did that for 9 days, lost 8lbs, and surgeon said my liver was perfect. I started 229, now 221, I'm 5'3. Please try not to worry. :-)

    I'm sleeved!

I think everyone is so different. As bad as I feel right now, I would love yogurt! I'm really hoping I can get fluid and yogurt down soon. :-) what I find odd is they say to avoid straw... But my nurses have all brought my water with straws! :-) and my painkillers (yuk) liquid painkillers I can not stand!!!

    I'm sleeved!

Walking was ok ... It was just difficult with the drain and the drip. But I think they come out tomorrow. It wasn't loads of blood I threw up, it was thick gooey blobs, but not like when you are normally sick. The docs didn't even comment so it must be normal.... I suffer with migraines and I came round with a bad one... Prob from the morphine. So that may be why I was ill. My tummy feels heavy, like I have someone sat on me. But I'm not in agony ... Just uncomfortable. Although I'm probably still drugged up to the eyeballs! :-)
  14. I'm currently having a major stress and serious doubts, and my surgery is in about 8 hours time...... :-( I should be in bed, it's gone midnight here, but I can't sleep.... :-(
  15. Pre op diet, very low calorie (about 800 per day) and my tongue is yellow and my teeth feel covered! I keep brushing it away, but it comes back. Please tell me this will go? Or will I have this disgusting yellow horrible feeling forever once I'm sleeved....?? I'm single... And will be forever if this continues!! :-( Surgery is Friday...

    Fed up

On my pre op diet, surgery is Friday. I've stick to my diet, I was only asked to do 10 says, but have made sure I've had no carbs, sugar etc. I've stuck to about 800 calories a day, yesterday was much less... About 600. And today I gained 1lb! That means I've lost 5lbs. I am so tired and cold. And now my period has come - I don't usually have periods on my pill. The last time was 8 months ago. Why now?? Will they still do my sleeve Friday? I'm miserable. :-(

    Got my date!

2 more days to go!! :-)

    Fed up

Thanks bufflehead, I know you're right. I'll try and keep positive. I'm determined to stay strong and make it to Friday, but all I wanna do today is curl up in bed and not get out. Thanks for your encouragement :-)
  19. I'm Friday 27th too!!! I'm in the uk tho... But I'll be a buddy :-)
  20. So I woke up thinking great, just 4 more days of pre op diet. I've found it's gotten harder for me as it's gone along.... But then I realised, I get sleeved on Friday!!!! It's suddenly sneaked up on me! I've only lost 6lb so far on the pre op, so worried I've done it wrong cause they gave me loads of choices. They want me to do 4 weeks liquids after the op... But other surgeons said 2 weeks. I really hope I'm doing the right thing... :-/ I just want to be able to take my kids swimming without feeling like a whale, and take them horse riding without giving the horse a heart attack. Other than that, i am lucky to have no health problems at all, so I hope I don't create more issues for myself by doing this. But so far.... I feel ok... Almost looking forward to it :-)

    Thunder thighs.

If ever my mum is feeling down, she says my legs cheer her up cause they are such a funny shape! Lol. My mum has skinny sparrow legs, but I've always had huge legs. I even had a random little girl walk over to me one day and say "wow, your legs are biiiiiig!" I think I'll always have chunky legs, but if some comes off I'll be happy :-)
  22. How many nights in hospital did you stay? One company I spoke to said I'd stay one night, but the one I've chosen said 2 nights. Both were the same price. But one said I needed a 4 week milk pre op, and the other said a 10 day low calorie pre op diet. They differ so much. I'm in the uk.
  23. Ok, I know everyone is completely different ... But I've just found out that 5 weeks after surgery I am likely to bump in an ex at an event ... And I've avoided doing that for so long! My CW is 225 and I'm 5'3 .. Is anyone similar stats, and how much did you lose? I also have a family holiday booked in July, 4 months out... What did you lose by that point? Thanks everyone! I get sleeved one week today - the 7 day countdown begins! :-)
  24. mandyboo

How much loss 5 weeks out?

Thanks for the replies :-) I'm really hoping to see a difference by 5 weeks, just so I can hold my head up high and not be quite so self conscious :-)
  25. My best friend was horrible - told me I'd die if I have it done :-( I've not spoke to her since. And I've not told anyone else. My surgery is Friday :-)
