Hello everyone! I got banded on August 16 and just found this great site! My lap band took place at a day surgery center without any complications. My pain has been managed with a few doses of liquid tylenol - the last dose was yesterday morning. I am on a full liquid diet for 2 weeks (6 mini meals each day) and I find that 3/4 to 1 cup quantity is sufficient for me at this time. Three of the mini meals are high Protein shakes (Myocel or Muscle Milk). I will be able to add mashed potatoes, oatmeal, grits, malt0 meal, and cottage cheese during weeks 3 and 4. Then, pureed as tolerated. Hubby and I went for a walk this morning - 1/2 mile - was hoping to do a mile but, I felt very tired at the 1/2 mile mark and decided not to overdo it. I lost 8 pounds during my 2 week pre-op diet of 2 shakes and 2 no fat/low carb meals each day. I know I am in healing phase right now and any weight lost is a bonus but, I am really looking forward to weighing in at my follow-up visit on 8/31. It will be great getting to know you and sharing our weight loss successes in the weeks and months to come! Seems like a consultation with a counselor that specializes in food/eating issues is in order. Your surgeon's office should be able to recommend someone. Make haste. Ellen 219/205.5/stunningly svelte

Sounds like you might benefit from a consultation with a nutritionist/dietician as well as a counselor that is experienced with food related issues. Your surgeon's office should be able to make recommendations. Best wishes on getting it all worked out, Ellen banded for 8 days full liquid post-op diet :-D 219/209/I dunno - not 'overweight' would be good

Don't expect to lose much (if anything) until you have some restriction and that comes with fills. Docs vary on when the first few fills are scheduled. Banders that do the best with weight loss are compliant with doctor's instructions and include some form of exercise in their daily routine. Let us know how you are doing, Ellen banded for 8 days full liquid post-op diet :-D 219/209/I dunno - not 'overweight' would be good -

Hey SoonerGirl ~ I had my surgery at The Surgery Center in Richardson too! Richard Anderson is my doc and today is my 1 week bandiversary! Do you go to the support group meeting that takes place there? Maybe well will 'swap howdies' face to face sometime. My opinion - none of his business what you're taking off for. If he presses - gall bladder or female surgery. Of course, I'm the type that I'd tell him I was getting a boob job or donating a kidney . . . that's just me . . . and one reason why I am self-employed! Best wishes on your upcoming surgery, Ellen banded for a week full liquid post-op diet - still :-P 219/209/I dunno - not 'overweight' would be good

One of my post-op instructions is to take a chewable Flintstone or Centrum Vitamin each day. Since, I am still on liquids right now - it's nice to have SOMETHING to chew! Ellen banded for a week full liquid post-op diet - still 219/209/I dunno - not 'overweight' would be good

Hey CHUNK ~~~ I am right there with you on no one knowing but my surgeon and my hubbie! Since I am just one week out from surgery date, I am curious as to how long you have been banded, if others have noticed your weight loss and your replies, and what you say to comments about the amount of food you are eating. Thanks in advance for your time, Ellen banded for a week full liquid post-op diet - still :-P 219/209/I dunno - not 'overweight' would be good

EXERCISE...is everybody really doing it??
EllenDanis replied to wannabskinny2's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I started walking a few weeks before I got my band . . . that 'healthier me' switch had already gotten flipped! I was up to 2 miles the day before my surgery. Well, I am 1 week out now and managed to walk 3/4 of a mile last night. I sleep better on the nights that I walk and it sure does help get that gas outta the way! Oh, and I am 2 pounds down from surgery date a week ago. Ellen banded for a week full liquid post-op diet - still :-P 219/209/I dunno - not 'overweight' would be good -
Nope, not yet. Probably because I haven't told anyone that I got banded. I am the only fat person in my circle of influence and I am the only fat person in my family (how does that happen?). They just think that I could lose weight if I made up my mind to do it. When the weight is all gone and I start hearing, "I told you that you just needed to DECIDE to do it" . . . then, I will tell them I got banded. Actually, I am thinking of throwing myself a big coming out party to Celebrate x amount of time at my goal - we'll see!
