I am 65 years old and have managed to eat myself into morbid obesity. Generally I am in good health and have a terrific life and do NOT want to let my accumulated fat continue to affect my mobility and shorten my life. I have hypertension and high cholesterol and my back and knees bother me now. I was not always fat but never really thin either. Most of my weight has arrived gradually since I was 40 years old. I have been considering a band for several years but now think a sleeve is best for me in spite of my fears. My insurance coverage while working would not cover bariatric surgery and now I am glad I waited as the sleeve now has had some time to become more mainstream and Medicare covers it. I need to "get on with it" as my mother fell over dead with heart attack at age 79. I quit drinking 22 years ago and quit smoking 5 years ago. This is my last frontier. I have a good life and want to keep it. Have had all tests and pre op requirements completed and waiting on my surgery date. This website has already helped me a great deal. Hope to get to know folks who visit here often both to receive and give support in the days ahead.
