What are/were you looking forward to being able to do post-surgery?
iamjamilyn replied to Maloneymommy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am at goal now and I have to encourage all of you that it is fantastic to meet theses goals! I still marvel sometimes as I sit in church with my legs crossed or almost burst into tears when I slip into a size 10 anything! My deciding point was in the Spring of 2014 when I just could not handle walking around a park all day with my sons Boy Scout Troop...we were constantly on the move all day and it killed my legs, feet EVERYTHING! 7 months post surgery, I went Zip Lining with them and it was the most empowering moment in my life. I had avoided that trip the year before because of the weight limit, of course, and it was so awesome! Hang in there and you will be able to do all of those things you want to do. -

What are your healthy go-to snacks?

I am not sure if I qualify as a veteran, sleeved in 10/2014 so about 18 months. I am at goal and maintaining. I always try to have on hand: -Hard Boiled Eggs - quick and easy to transport! -Turkey slices - I like a rolled slice with cheese -Cashews - big fan of the low sugar fudge bar too -
Really bad anxiety about eating
iamjamilyn replied to anna9/15's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I do understand the fear factor, it is scary. You do have to push yourself past it and it does get better! Chew chew chew, drink slowly. I remember the days of trying to get ONE bottle of Water down was work - just one sip at a time. Good luck, you are not crazy. -
I never had a band, but I did have the sleeve about 11 months ago. I have never regretted my surgery at all. If you have the option, I highly recommend it!

Carbonated drinks after surgery?
iamjamilyn replied to Half of Bri's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was a total diet soda junkie. August 1st last year, when I made the decision to do the surgery, I made the choice to change my eating at that time. I started eating low carb and went cold turkey on my 6 can a day diet soda habit. I switched to Water, I use the flavor packets or the flavor squirt to help but I have never even tried to drink the carbonated drinks. I have to say that I really don't miss the soda at all. You can get past it. ???? -
In the first few days of my new life...
iamjamilyn replied to hcwild's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi all, just wanted to offer a little support. I agree it is tough to get through the liquid diet part of recovery. Please be careful, it can be very painful if you rush your eating. The burping is totally normal, I still burp almost 11 months out! If you are still feeling pain in your side - have you tried wearing a body shaper? Like Spanx? It helped me so much after surgery to have that extra support around my stomach. Keep your spirits up! It gets better soon. -
You know I have had itchy skin many times since I had surgery - it tends to flare up and I just itch everywhere! Legs, arms, head, neck, back just everywhere...I start to scratch and get rash flare up. I never connected that to my surgery, but it actually has been happening since the surgery. Huuuummmm

Are you laying down? I had trouble sleeping too, I slept better in a recliner instead of a bed for about 6 weeks. The liquid pain meds helped but I only used it for 1 week.
-
The most important thing is to get enough protein to stop hunger. You don't seem to be reaching even 50 g on that eating plan. I can not imagine how you were able to even eat pizza at 5 weeks...I am about 11 months out and can't eat dough at all. Be careful with that, it can be very painful.

What food do you miss after your weight loss surgery?
iamjamilyn replied to raec81's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Jimmy Johns will make any sub without bread, did you know? I miss their bread too, so good! They do lettuce wrap for any sub.
