CONGRATS! Glad to hear you are doing well This is the start to a new beginning... enjoy the ride!

@@youngmilf Yes my doctor prescribed me phentermine before I was even thinking about surgery.. just another failed attempt at weight lose lol! I was on them for about a week before I flushed them. They made me really jittery, to the point where I couldn't sleep (and I took them in the morning!) and my heart was beating so fast I thought I was gonna have a heart attack! Nope, not for me! I gotta say, they did curb my appetite and did what they said, but I still ate. Def a rough experience for me... hopefully it'll be better for you! Good luck

Are stalls real or do we just make excuses ?
kaseyw0od replied to AussieSam's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm currently going through a stall right now... Started about 2-3 weeks post op and WILL NOT END! I'm 1-month post op today.. how long do these stalls normally last? -
Hi @@GossipGirlxoxo !! I'm 2 days away from being 1-month post op and it's already been a wild ride! I think the most important piece of advice I would give is to PORTION OUT YOUR MEALS! I've been going through the different "food stages" and thought I could handle more than a 1/4 cup of food, boy was I wrong! I ate way too fast so I didn't feel the full effects and in about 5 mins would puke. Worst feeling ever! I'm still struggling with my portion sizes, but am getting much better, because I HATE feeling nauseous Also, after your surgery, get up and walk around ASAP! Helps tremendously in your recovery process! As far as foods go, follow what your NUT and surgeon says... my surgeon's office gave us a little booklet that gave us a list of food we could eat and some examples of recipes for every stage. I'm on the "soft food" stage right now, so for example, I can have chicken, but it has to be shredded. I tried different spices and sauces and had to figure out which was best and didn't make me feel sick. It's almost like a trial and error thing. As long as you stick to the program, you will be fine!! I'm also going through this so I become healthy and am able to have children in the future. I don't have diabetes, but had extremely high blood pressure, and now it's almost back to normal. So it is working, it's just a lot of hard work! You will do great, and I wish you luck in everything! I'm going to friend you, so I can stalk your progress

Is anyone else shitting bricks?!

@@pgarcia0812 lmao! i was wondering where you were! no worries though, i usually check my messages and respond back in my head, then realize a week later i never actually wrote back lol! @@Alyssa0102 thats awesome! im very happy for you and congrats on the progress, you are like a whole new woman! i def am gonna follow you on pinterest.. i think my username is the same as this, i dont even know lol but ill find you! i can start soft foods on monday and need some good recipes! i've been dying to have a turkey burger, so that'll be my first meal, and i def wanna make some chili and shredded chicken in the crock pot!

@@Alyssa0102 Gotcha! I thought you had the surgery Feb of this year, but then saw you lost 130lbs and was like OMG she couldn't have lost that much weight in only 3 months lol! That's amazing though to have lost that much weight, how do you feel?? I'm nervous to start eating normal food, because I feel I am going to overeat or eat bad foods. The head hunger is KILLER! The food commercials are so hard to watch with delicious foods staring at me lol! Congrats to your sister as well! I hope she has a speedy recovery and it's awesome she has you for support! How old are you guys and where from?? I'm 25 from CT (I promise I'm not a creepy stalker lol).

@@kikilay17 I totally just saw your post and am so sorry it took so long to respond lol!! First of all this woman's video is awesome and her arms looks AH-MAZING! Yeah you can see the bat wing a little, but they are so toned and jacked you can hardly tell! Thanks for the vid, just wait you will be the squat queen and have a great butt!! I've literally been lifting weights every night! I see a little bit of definition in my arms, so it def is working, but it needs to happen faster lol @@Alyssa0102 Hiiii, the surgery went really well! They sent me home from the hospital the next day and I've been doing good ever since. Still not 100% fully recovered, but getting there! I'm on the puree stage now, and although it is better than the liquids, I'm getting tired of the same old meals. I'm counting down the days until I could eat soft foods (4 DAYS) and I couldn't be more excited! I did have a little run-in last night.. I tried making these pureed broccoli/parm cheese/panko break crumbs "pancakes" (I did fry them in the pan with a little olive oil), and idk if I ate too much or just shouldn't have eaten that particular food, but I threw it all up! As much as I HATE throwing up, it really keeps you accountable for what you put into your body and keeps you on track. So far I've lost about 25lbs, and trying really hard to get outta the 300's! I feel like I'm stalling a bit.. I'm eating right and exercising daily, but the numbers on the scale aren't moving as fast as I want them to! I've read about 2/3 week stalls where your body is adjusting to the change and you don't really lose weight (but lose inches), so maybe thats what I'm going through right now... OMG 130lbs down?! That's amazing, congrats!!! So you had your surgery Feb of last year? I want to around the same amount of weight, maybe a little more! How is the excess skin and how do you feel mentally and physically?! Are there any tips or advice you can give me?

@@Jaymmie Hengle thanks for the link! i needed some extra puree recipes and this is perfect! i cant wait to try the broccoli soup

I am on my puree foods step and I couldn't be happier!!! The 2-weeks of shakes were HELL for me! I just wanted to eat something! Of course the shakes made me full, but it didn't stop my cravings. I finally had my post-op appt yesterday... they said I could move on to the next step and I am so excited! I don't know how I made it through those 2-weeks of shakes, maybe I have more willpower than I thought. Anyways, I had some ricotta cheese and sauce last night and it tasted like heaven. When the dietitian told me my portion sizes would be 1/4 cup, I thought "YEAH RIGHT!" - but it actually filled me up! I even had some Greek yogurt yesterday and savored every spoonful. I am just so happy I can start to eat actual food and not dread my meal times. Or course I am still drinking shakes to get in Protein, but now I can add extra things to make it taste better. My personal favorite--chocolate shake with PB2 (powdered peanut butter), and 1/4 cup of banana--soooo damn good! I am so happy I went through with this procedure! I was having some doubts along the way, but nothing good ever comes easy, and this process is NOT easy! I know I am going to run into more obstacles along the way, but I'm heading in the right direction and just need to stay on track!

@@Djmohr Thank you so much @@hellohealthy Yayyyyy congrats to you!! I'm loving this stage right now and it only gets better from here! They actually don't allow us to have baby food bc there's not enough Protein and there could be a lot of sugar.

@@Salonboi ENJOY! Let me know if you try it! If you think of any other recipes, feel free to share, I'm always looking for different things to eat
-
@@Salonboi no I just mush it up with a little more with a spoon.

@@Djmohr I CANNOT WAIT! The dietitian went over the some foods we could eat during the soft foods stage and my mouth was literally watering! Two weeks and I'll be there woo hoo!

I just started the puree stage yesterday, and I'm loving it! I'm just so happy I can actually eat food, even if it's all mushy! My dietitian has us avoiding carbs like potatoes, sweet potatoes, oatmeal, etc. The only "meats" we are allowed are canned chicken and tuna. We can have chicken, but need to put it in the blender first (NO THANKS). Some foods we are allowed are Greek yogurt, sugar free applesauce, pureed fruits and veggies (without seeds), ricotta cheese, re-fried Beans, and cottage cheese. We can only have a 1/4 cup portion of these foods. Here are some suggestions she gave us: -cottage cheese with pureed fruit -ricotta cheese with marina sauce and sprinkled parm cheese (had it last night--DELISH) -cottage/ricotta cheese with cinnamon and splenda Basically anything we eat at this point, needs to be a "baby food-like" consistency. I'm gonna boil some carrots tonight and mash them up with a little salt and pepper. I think my biggest issue is getting enough Protein. My dietitian requires us to get at least 60g of protein everyday. Keep up the good work everyone

I am scheduled for surgery at 3:10 this afternoon! Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers and send good vibes my way. Thank you

Thanks everyone! They may be sending me home tonight, fingers crossed! Hope you all are well!

Thank you everyone for the kind thoughts! Surgery went great and I'm up and walking around as of this morning. Drinking my first protein shake for breakfast and it's not as bad as I thought it would be. The pain isn't too bad. Just feels like I did a thousand crunches. Everything else is going good and they may even discharge me today! Fingers crossed. Thanks so much everyone. I'm so thankful for this site and all the support that comes with it!

Thank you so much everyone, I appreciate it Will keep you all updated. I'm more excited than nervous right now, I'm sure that'll change once I'm at the hospital LOL

Just told the people I work with about my surgery and, PHEW! WHAT A RELIEF! I honestly don't know why I was so hesitant to tell them in the first place. Maybe because I was ashamed I couldn't lose the weight on my own or just embarrassed that I let myself get to be this big... I finally realized that I'm doing this for ME, to better myself, and I honestly don't give a sh*t whether people like it or not. So I told my co-workers, and to my surprise, everyone was extremely supportive and happy for me. I feel so stupid for even stressing about this.

Why is this ALL I'm thinking about now!?
kaseyw0od replied to KalelsWifey's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
My gastric bypass surgery is tomorrow and I'm STILL contemplating whether I'm getting the right procedure or not! Obviously, there's no turning back now but I don't want to regret anything... When I first started thinking about surgery, I was 100% for the sleeve. My turning point was when I was talking to a couple people who were sleeved and they said they can eat/drink whatever they want. To some, this sounds good, but to me it was a big red flag. I don't want to be able to eat bad food, I want that restriction. I don't want to be able to eat the bad foods that got me here in the first place. My surgeon also told me that bypass patients lose more weight at a faster rate, and that's what sold me. If I'm gonna get the surgery I might as well get the procedure with the better stats. Don't get me wrong I've seen plenty of people do well with the sleeve and it is different with every person, but I just know myself and the bypass is the right choice for me! -

@@kikilay17 LMAO! I stalk everyone so it's all good!! Thanks so much, I will definitely keep you updated! The 6-month diet does suck, but I think in the end it was beneficial because it really prepared me for everything. It'll go by super quick too! Do you have Oxford? If so, they are really fast with authorization process so you can get a date asap. When I was done with the 6-months, Oxford authorized me within 2 days and I got a date right away. So hang in there! Girl you are preaching to the choir about sagging skin! Squats should help with your ass! Just keep banging out squats everyday, it'll help! My arms are gonna the death of me... I already have the whole bat-wing shit going on and I know once I lose the weight it'll look even worse I'm really gonna try to tone as much as I can, we will see how that goes!
