I am lisa. I was just replying to someone named Cathy on the board. Sorry for the confusion. You ride a harley? I have been riding since I was 18. (46 now). I sold my last bikes when I got married 7 years ago and got a HORSE! HAHAHAHHA... Thanks for you post - I feel so welcomed.

I was an Addict (alcohol and Sedatives) BEFORE the lapband. After about 2 years of recovery, I got banded. I use "The Work", www.thework.com, to deal with the thinking that leads to the emotion that leads to the (Food, Alcohol, whatever!). It ALWAYS starts with a thought. I have given up alcohol, drugs and cigarettes using The WORK (IT'S EASY AND ITS FREE) and use it in conjunction with my band - I have never been so at peace in my life. Give it a try. Contact me and I can send you a cd, too. No cost - i just love sharing this remarkable tool that helps me so much!

My nurse made me feel like a failure and a PIG
LovingWhatIs replied to kbear's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I totally gained 2 pounds post-op. My surgeon was like, Don't worry about it! You aren't to the "weight Loss" stage yet. It will start when you get the first fill or two (he was right). He was so cool and totally put my mind at ease. You are doing great! Don't listen to her - FTB! -
Protein drink cramping my stomach
LovingWhatIs replied to flipbarnett's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I recommend unjury medical quality Protein. It is delish and doesn't have the side affects you described that are common to many Protein drinks. This product is geared to Weight Loss surgery patients. Welcome to the UNJURY Homepage. oh, and 20 GRAMS A SERVING! And lower in calories than most! -
Book on Head Hunger?
LovingWhatIs replied to MollyBrown's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The best thing for dealing with the thoughts, that lead to the feelings that lead to the fridge is "The Work". At least that I ever found. It is remarkably easy to use and lifechanging all the way around. It's also free (or you can buy the book, Loving What Is by Byron Katie) on www.thework.com. I tried it and now I share it with other lapbanders for free. IT ROCKS! -
10 days out and starting to get very hungery, Help please
LovingWhatIs replied to Dolfan13's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
yeah, I didn't even start the "weight Loss" phase until my first fill. Some of us even gain a pound or two on the Post-Op soft diet. DON"T WORRY! You will feel like you did immediately post-op as soon as you start getting fills. I freeked out about this too. You would think they would tell us to expect this. Sheesh. -
I recommend unjury Medical Quality protien shakes. They are designed for people with Lap Band/Bariatric surgery and are low in Carbs. The chicken Soup is so delicious I have it every evening. And there are 20 GRAMS OF Protein in each serving and only 90 calories. The other flavors are great too. Much better tasting than any other and well priced. My sister is a body builder and she loves it to - after I got my band she tried it and became a believer. You can buy it at Welcome to the UNJURY Homepage

Using "THE WORK" of Byron Katie to deal with Emotional Eating
LovingWhatIs posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You guys, I am using the most remarkable tool to deal with the thinking, that led to the feelings, that led me to the fridge! In combination with the Band, it is power stuff! It is free, free, free! and seems almost ridiculously easy (but incredibly penetrating process; i encourage you not to dismiss it as silly - I did at first and then tried using it and WOW!), and everything you need to learn to do it is on food, for sure!) Email me and if I have some CDs available I will send em to you for free. I loved it so much I went to her School and now share this process for free to people in prisons, addiction treatment or anyone who just asks. I am not selling anything - just want to share with my BANDED BROTHERS AND SISTAHS what has helped me so much. IF YOU HAVE USED THE WORK OR ARE INTERESTED, OR WOULD LIKE SOME FREE SUPPORT IN LEARNING, contact me, visit my website at www.meetingyourmind.com, or POST IT HERE! -
I had the SIDE-Stitch (on the left to belly button, not under ribs) pain 2 weeks after my banding. It was not related to eating. My Dr. said it didn't have anything to do with the banding, and yet, I hear people on this thread describing the same thing. It felt EXACTLY like a the pain I would get when I used to jog long distances. I think the docs would learn a lot reading this forum!

Pain to the left of Belly Button?
LovingWhatIs replied to mylapspirit's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had the same thing, and my Dr. said it couldn't have anything to do with the band. It almost felt like a "female" pain, but it was different, and I am still convinced it had something to do with the band. It was extraordinarily painful, had to take a narcotic, and it went away in about 2 hours. I hadn't eaten previous to it, just twisted picking something up. I was about 2 weeks post surgery. -
Hola to everyone in the Virginia Forum. I am in Berryville, and was banded on Sept. 11th. I will probably be having my third fill next week. Boy, it is weird learning to eat differently. I love it tho. This is quite a journey and I need all the help I can get. I find that "The Work" of Byron Katie (www.thework.com) is the best way I have learned to work with the stressful thoughts that proceed my desire to overeat. It is remarkable, and it's free. I am hoping to start a group to do this work for Banded People in Virginia if anyone is interested.
