Family cruise @ 3 months post op
minniegirl replied to slimgal2015's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
We cruise 2-3x a year and we have one at 5, 8 & 11 mos post surgery. Gulp!! I can tell you I know. FOR SURE that you will have plenty of options, no worries there! Eggs, tuna, salmon, grilled chicken, shrimp cocktail, steamed veg, fresh fruits & melons, yoghurt, sugar free desserts if you choose to indulge, etc etc.. ENJOY! -

Cheated every day of 7 day pre op diet
minniegirl replied to BeautifullyCreated1982's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My pre op diet includes 4 eight ounce protein shakes per day (at least two made with skim milk) and then AT LEAST 6 servings from the following: 1/2 cup grits, oatmeal or cream of wheat 8 ounces vegetable juice 3 ounces of grilled steamed or poached chicken, fish or egg whites 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce 5-6 ounces greek yogurt, LF such as dannon light & fit greek (my favorite and only 80 cal) 1 cup raw veg/lettuces, FF dressing SF jello or ice pops and of course the obligatory 64 ounces of fluids My surgeon requires BMI's under 45 to do this for 1 week pre op. BMI's over 45 do it for 2 weeks. 14 days of just liquids, wow that would be so hard for me with the "hungry girl" tummy I currently have!! I just started my diet today but have been really "winding down" for weeks now. I can do my pre op NP but I really feel for those who are on the much stricter pre op!!! Warm HUGGGGS and YOU CAN DO IT!! -
You were beautiful before and are GORGEOUS now Inspiring!

God bless you! Its going to be great! Our stats are VERY similar I go on 2/24.

How many of you talked to your surgeon about the bougie size he would use for your sleeve surgery? And if you did, how did it go, did you have input? I find myself obsessing about this because I want my sleeve to be small (within safe and reasonable limits of course) I have read that 32f is the smallest we can use here in the US? I am thinking 34f or 36f. Of course I plan on talking to my surgeon about this on Tues at my pre op, but I have a bit of anxiety over it. Worried that it seems like second guessing him, or is this a fair and common topic to discuss?

There are several great links in this thread that explain what a bougie is, a few pages back maybe.

I am still pre op and I find the shakes a bit too sweet, depending on the flavor I cut it up to 1/2 of the scoop with the unflavored. I am using the Unjury and I find them all VERY good, just too sweet full strength.

fabulous80 hope you are doing well!!! I see that yesterday was your day, congrats

I just bought it also, can not wait to read it, thanks!

Hey everybody! So I had my hospital pre op today and also the pre op with my surgeon. AND the bougie size he uses is...................................(drumroll) 40f I feel really good about this and thank you to all who helped me and contributed here xo

Good for you!! You are through the worst of it hopefully!! I am trying to stock up on as much variety as the program will allow, I have also dedicated a small area in the kitchen cabinets for ONLY my things, I have gotten a bunch of cute tiny containers, small Water bottles, dishes, etc that I will enjoy using vs a huge glass or plate after surgery. If I can figure out how to do a you tube video I am going to start doing that to try to help, inspire, inform others. Watching these videos that others have made has been so inspiring for me. -
