Hey BadFla, ((I got the "VSG" sleeve.)) What I liked about the sleeve was it is much less invassive than the DS.or RNY and None of the malabsorbtion issues.. ALSO... Along with the portion of the stomach removed.. Also takes with it.. That Nasty little "grehlan Producing" Gland.. Which IS the devil that Stimulates your natural Hunger impulse.. I have been sleeved for 8 months now.. and have lost over 130 lbs.. No sign of diabetes, No more high Blood Pressure, Im eating Less. and Much Healthier than ever before !!

I Agree with Mac... I initially was going to pick him .. BUT.. the lack of sleeve experience, WAS.. a big contributor.. ALSO.. He charged a bit more, And on top of that.. He was going to charge me even more... because my BMI was higher than the Norm.. SO he got crossed off my list real quick. He is a Fantastik Surgeon.. HE IS>. But.. Wasn't the best for Me !! I couldn't have been more impressed with my final choice.. Dr. Alberto Aceves ! What a great surgeon,.. and a Great Human Being ! :wink2:

I know... I'm not a "Bandster", ((I had the gastric Sleeve)) I had the sleeve by absolute Choice... I didnt want any of the Drama that goes with the band.. Fills, Erosion, Slippage, Constant vomiting, Etc. I just wanted my procedure To be SAFE, Less invasive, A healthy lifestyle choice, and Yes, Reasonable....:thumbup: I did MONTHS of research.. and because i was a Self Pay... I did have to shop price.. Which also made me look outside the USA for a Qualified surgeon. I found that and More...with Dr. ACEVES in Mexicali Mexico ! Before you make your decision.. ________________________________________________________________ :thumbup:I chose the SLEEVE, For the main reason, I wouldn't have to worry about fills. Also.. I have seen Post after Post.. Of people that have Bands, And are having Bad Problems, Erosion, Slippage, Vomiting, Sliming Etc. I have talked to MANY people that were banded, and have since had a revision to the sleeve.. SO.. if saving money is a reason for the band over the Sleeve.. Think again.. Get the sleeve and save your self Much time, And Pain.. Please.. do your research !!! :thumbup:

I still am Very impressed with my sleeve.. I believe this is my salvation for the rest of my life.. In other words the key stepping stone i needed to Help me get where i want to go !~ Where NOTHING ELSE WORKED.. this has with flying colors.. I have had Stints of.. what they call STALLS.. ((periods of time where i don't loose or only loose a very minimal amount.)) I havn't a clue when you posted this..So i don't know if you have already decided and are done with your surgery or not.. I was really conflicted, over the whole which surgery was best forme..I did better than 6 months of research, Phone calls, and emails.. I was also a Self pay person, SO Price... was a Factor, but,.. I still wanted the best surgeon i could get for my money ! I checked In my resident state, FL. and the best i could find for the Mini Bypass(which I thought was best forme..) was 39,000.00 Plus extras... And it ranged up to 185,000.00 !! Through the message boards.. I was advised to check into Surgeons in Mexico.My family was ALL dead set aginst the idea of surgery in mex. BUT.. unless they each had a few thousand dollars to chip in.. "They needed to hold their comments to themselves.." I eventually found my surgeon of choice.. Dr. Alberto Aceves.. The total cost on my SLEEVE was 9,500.00 and that covered EVERYTHING but... my airfare.. Dr. Aceves is European, American, and mexican Board certified, and teaches others around the world, how to correctly perform the different bariatric surgeries. The hospital was The cleanest I have ever seen, and it was fully equipped and staffed by the best in the field ! My "sleeve experience" far exceeded my expectations ! :biggrin:When I was shopping for a surgeon, ( And didn't really Know which procedure i was wanting or needing.. I was Lucky I had someone like "Wasa".. Step up and Offer me all the advice and info. No one else was willing to share, She helped Me QUICKLY rule out the LB and the DS right off the plate ! I then thought i needed the Mini Bypass, But .. after talking to my surgeon, and him having an issue with my BMI.. I was suggested the "Gastric Sleeve"... I liked the safety Stats -vs- the other procedures..And the never having to worry about fills,Slippage, Erosion,and constant struggles with vomiting, and nausea, and WORSE..:frown: I also liked the faster recovery time. What i do..Is the drinkable yogurts when pressed for time.. My system cannot handle eggs..So,.. (a hard boiled egg is out of the question for me)..but... may work for you.And there is always the option of an Apple,Banana,Pear, Etc. I wish you all the best !

I flew into San Diego from Florida, EVERYTHING ABOUT MY SURGERY EXPERIENCE WAS A 10 !!!!! All the way across the board. MY cost..was 9,500.00 for EVERYTHING.. except my Airfare, Which i got for 189.00 Round trip. Other than that.. the 9,500.00 COVERED EVERYTHING.. there were NO hidden surprises.

I Had my Gastric Sleeve done this past Dec. 4th 2007 By Dr. Alberto Aceves, In mexicali Mexico. My entire experience was better than I could have expected. And VERY reasonable.
