Week 7 Post-op: Still can't eat most stuff.
Anthony DeCastro posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I stil get sick really easily, even from eating small portions. Like, I had half of a roast beef sandwich and my stomach's hurting a lot. Nothing on the sandwich but the roast beef itself. I REALLY hate this. I'm thinking this surgery was nothing but a big mistake. How long until I can eat a decent meal again? UPDATE: It was half of a half of a sub.. yeah, small lol. Sorry if I seem frustrated, I've just been getting sick way easier. Am I expecting too much 7 weeks in? I heard that around this time, I should be fully recovered.. -

So bread is just a major problem, huh? This time, it was just meat that made me sick and not the bread.. but not nearly as bad as with the bread. Guess that's understandable. I'll stay away from it for a while. -

3 weeks in and I still get sick from everything. Even Water. I'm so frustrated. What makes matters even worse, I'm afraid that I won't be able to eat stuff normally ever again. Long-time sleeve users, please help me out here. What's an average meal like after the stomach's fully recovered? Like, if you were to eat a steak, could you eat the whole thing, or would you get full halfway? I know I don't have to worry about this for another 4-5 weeks, but I'm still curious. I'm afraid I'm not getting enough in. Not even enough water. -

Really? I always had this thought that you would need to eat such little portions of stuff after you fully heal.. I guess it just depends on the person. Maybe three weeks of eating nothing but crap just got me like this.. thanks for the information. -

Well, that sounds pretty convincing, at the very least.. How much does the new stomach actually hold? My pamphlet says it only holds one ounce while it originally held 40, but that sounds way too farfetched to be true. -
What's the real deal with soda?
Anthony DeCastro posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Say you let the stomach fully recover. Can you drink a soda again? Obviously, you wanna stay away from it because it's just unhealthy in general, and it will expand the stomach with bubbles, but what about later on? Can you still have an occasional soda or will it screw you up bad? I'm talking about Coca-Cola and stuff, not diet sodas. My doctor never said that I'm completely done with sodas, but to stay away from them for the time being, so I'm curious. -
Can someone help me out? Drinking water isn't easy...

Okay, so I can drink other liquids, like juices and skim milk, but Water always hurts me for some reason. Is it because I drink it too fast? I put bottles of cold water in the refrigerator to drink. I seem to burp quite a bit after drinking water, and it bugs me. 2 weeks post-op. Maybe I just have to drink slower? -

I tried another bottle of Water. I'm not sensing much pain, but I still burp quite a bit from it. I wonder, why do you think burps happen more often with water? I didn't chug it down or anything.. oh well, I hope this doesn't last super long. -

ATM I'm getting this with just plain water. I can't even fathom drinking soda fast at my stage. I guess I'll wait, drink slow if I ever have one, and just be careful of what I consume. Thanks, guys! -
Question in regards to recovery.
Anthony DeCastro posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery almost two weeks ago and I'm curious on how many weeks it would normally take for the stomach to fully recover. I get sick with a lot of the things I've tried to eat. The doctor recommended a scrambled egg, and I couldn't handle it well, for example. Around what week is the normal time I'm able to eat anything without a problem? I'm obviously going to stay away from fatty things, which will only be eaten on occasions, but I would just like to eat anything without feeling sick. Also, is gas from eating stuff normal? I seem to burp after eating anything. Even drinking Water causes this. -
