I stall every once in a while. It seems like it is forever, and I have never counted the days, but I can see it being two or three weeks. Like catwoman said, it will break soon.

When do I stop regretting my Gastric Bypass?
laurah replied to Veiados's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Ahhh I remember feeling like this! I had chicken broth or Jello and everyone else was eating BBQ and cherry pie with ice cream! (my mother/family aren't the most supportive bunch) I actually missed eating like that... I know it all tasted so good! What did I do to myself that I couldn't eat/drink comfortably?!?! If I can get through that, you can. The goal was much more important than the pie. Like other posters have said, it was about the 6 month mark before I could even drink somewhat normally, and now I taste things, but I don't eat that piece of pie. When I went on pureed foods, I threw up sometimes, and just learned to be extra careful. Its all kinda part of the learning process I think. If you think you are just getting overly upset, maybe talk to a professional? -

Please someone help me make this decision!

If I was in your shoes I would do it. I was pushing 400 pounds a little over a year ago and didn't have high blood pressure, diabetes, none of that. It was like I meant to carry excess weight. I got tired of sideways glances from strangers at me and not fitting into chairs, things like that. I also have two kids and a super husband. I knew that if I continued with the yo yo dieting, and the extreme excess weight the luck with my health would run out. I'm not afraid to die, but the thought of leaving my kiddos on this earth without me scares the daylights out of me-more than the surgery did. It was found that I had an umbilical hernia (imagine being so fat that you didn't know you had a hernia!-sheesh!), that needed to be fixed and I also developed an internal hernia-so two more surgeries this year. I have also lost more than my fair share of hair but its growing back I'm happy to say. Even though I had those things go wrong and I was scared initially, I'd still do it again in a heartbeat. Do it not only for yourself, but your loved ones. -

My sister in law lives up there where the tornadoes hit. I am so sorry about that and feel terrible for the families. Im so sorry you lost your job. {{HUGS}} Drink Water and think about how those chips aren't gonna make anything better.

Horrible lesson learned!
laurah replied to retzlpa's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
awwww! It was about 6 months til I could drink Water 'normally' (bigger than a slow sip) and it not hurt or anything. That was a bad feeling. -
Hi! I had my surgery one year ago today too! I lost almost exactly the same weight also. There were the times I asked myself, 'Why did I have this surgery?!?' 'Why did I DO this to myself?!?' at the low points, but a year later I can also say that it was the best decision I have made as well. TONS of non surgical victories that make it all worth it. Great job @@Marie8777!!

200 pounds a REAL look at weight loss (skin galore)
laurah replied to Kathy Coop's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Omgosh! you look great! Yeah, the extra skin is there but look at what you did! I've lost about 165 pounds in the past year, and have quite a bit of loose skin now too. Sure, I'd like to have my arms back to where I could wear sleeveless shirts and not have to think about my 'wings', but I embrace seeing the loose skin. It reminds me of where I came from. A battle scar if you will. Great job! -
I do this every month! I lose weight normally, then bam! nothing. I'll even gain a pound or two. A couple of days after I start my period, the Water pounds and their little friends go away and I'm back on track. My doctor told me not to, but I watch my weight like crazy and it freaks me out a teensy bit every time.

Hair Loss & Using Permanent Color
laurah replied to psvzum's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had a bunch of hair loss and have gray hair I color. At first, I didn't use anything-just went gray-lost a bunch of hair. I thought, 'Oh, this has got to be it for hair loss. (haha) I'll use semi-permanent and see what happens.' - lost not as much at a time but a bit more hair. (arrggghhh) Then I went gray again because of hair depression/anger (My hair is doomed!)-I even cut off the long locks myself (shoulder length), I was so embarrassed to go in a salon. (it was to my bra-line) I cried while looking in the mirror, then finally went to the salon to get it fixed. I had permanent color put in. The gray was NOT helping my situation. It DOES look better on that front. and she layered it to clean it up a bit. She didn't touch the top because that SO needs to grow out. TLDR: my findings were that it doesn't matter if you put permanent color or semi permanent or NOTHING for coloring grays. If you're gonna lose hair, you're gonna lose it. -

I had a horrible time with Water in the beginning. The medicine cup way seems terrific! Anyway, just wanted to say congratulations! -
Oh my gosh, I love that I'm able to go to concerts and movies and the seat isn't hurting my hips because I have to wedge myself in. I love that I was able to go into a cave and it was walking intensive steep inclines up a down and I didn't have to stop. I love that I can wrap a regular sized towel around and it actually goes all the way around me. I love that my hubby can hug me and his arms go all the way around. I love that when someone in public looks at me I don't automatically think they are disgusted because Im so huge. (well they might be-I don't know-ha!) I love that I don't HAVE to shop at the larger sizes store for clothes. I love that I can walk for miles and not be huffing and puffing after half a mile.

Hi! I had my bypass surgery on 1/31/14 and I am feeling better now and ready to get this weight loss jump started!!! I'm in Pearland and was wondering if there were some of you in the Greater Houston area that were looking for some weight loss buddies and what not? Heck, even if you aren't in the area I'd love long distance buddies too. The more the merrier!!
