Dang! what is it doing? Having a seizure?

my DH says he can get in there better, and when we're in the position where he has to hold my legs up, he says he doesn't get tired anymore

What's up with WLS people & collar bones?
cissy replied to Wheetsin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
DH used to lay in my "nook" and say how soft it was. Now he's finding a hard time getting to a soft spot because 1) my boobs have gone down a lot, and 2) my collar bone is sticking out. -
Emily, I think you are dead on with this sentiment. I have noticed since I have lost some weight, I feel better about myself, and I smile more. People have noticed that and tell me, you seem so happy now. It's because I am! Megan, don't feel uncomfortable when people pay more attention to you than they did before. They have a right to. You're beautiful! And in the words of Diddy from the Proactiv infomercial, you gotta preserve your sexy!

I have not had a full blown PB, but I have gotten food stuck a few times. I still don't know if it's because my bites are a bit too big or if I try to eat too fast. Fried foods usually get stuck, so I have been trying to avoid them.

Total: -5 lbs NSV: I finally got off my fat a$$ and started exercising. 30 minutes on gazelle for a total of 1.38 miles. Mini-goal: exercise 30 minutes no less than 5 times this week. -
I LOVE Paula Deen, don't care for Sandra Lee at all. Hmmm, I think there might be a connection... :hungry:

You just have to listen to your body. I have experienced slight shoulder pain or a burp to indicate that I'm done. I have since learned to recognize the sensation that comes before that pain or that burp and that's when I stop. Give yourself time. You'll figure it out. We are all still learning.

When you say your band is wide open at night...
cissy replied to Sunta's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Sunta, being wide open at night for me means I can eat more than during the course of the day, but it's still less than pre-band. -
Rabbits and Turtles United New Year Challenge
cissy replied to It's me-Debbydo's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I haven't posted lately because I haven't had any NSV's until today. As I was walking down to the kitchen to put my lunch in the fridge, a co-worker from a different dept who I really don't speak to all that much stopped me and said that she noticed I was losing weight and that I look great. -
Kim, I have pretty good restriction, and I am usually wide open at night too. What I try to do to keep that food demon from getting into my head is to eat lunch a little later than usual, like at 2PM instead of 11:30AM. That way I'm not hungry by the time I get home at around 5:30 or 6, and I have made it a personal goal of mine not to eat after 7. So, my thinking is, if I'm not hungry at 6, then I won't be hungry at 6:30 (since it takes me 1/2 hour to eat anything now). I've been doing good like that, the only thing I have to make sure is that I get in a good amount of Protein at both Breakfast and lunch.

what kind of things were people eating 3-4 wks post op?
cissy replied to aligirrl77's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums

I told select members of my family. I had reactions on all ends of the spectrum. My mother was worried and pissed that she couldn't take off from work the day of my surgery. The very first person I told back when I was just thinking about it was my cousin who's like a sister to me. She was there with me for the surgery and has been the most supportive. She has weight issues of her own, and if & when she makes it up in her mind, I will be right there by her side too. DH was the most unsupportive. He would tell me things like, you shouldn't eat, do what I do and drink energy drinks instead of eating, eat only once a day. He knew that if I didn't eat I would get terrible headaches, and then I found out I was borderline diabetic in 2004, which contributed to the headaches when I let myself get too hungry. I told him he's never had a weight problem so he cannot relate. It wasn't until the Monday before I had the surgery that he lent his support -- AFTER he saw that I was going through with it anyway.

Yep- I have WAY more energy than I did before.

About NSV?? My body is doing funny things, but scale isnt budging.
cissy replied to Nykee's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yep- when my scale is not moving, I do lose inches. I comes in stages for me. Lose lbs, stay there for weeks, lose inches. -
Can I get some responses on "average" weight loss the first month? ---I lost 16 lbs the first month. (I was down 21 lbs, but gained back 5 after I started eating again) I also have some more questions: What is the average calorie intake the first few months following the proceedure? ---I don't count my calories. I just eat what I want until I satisfy my hunger. How long do I have to wait before I can get back on the eliptical 7 do other cardio? ---I don't do elliptical or cardio, but I did start walking the next day after I got home from surgery. How long did everyone wait to go back to work? Most of what I do is at a desk... some occational lifting. Not much though and nothing over say 20 pounds. ---I stayed out 8 working days, but one of the nurses that took care of me while in the hospital who also had the band told me that she went back to work after just 3 days What's the worst part of the first few days post-op? I've had two operations on my knees, (ACL) -- OMG! It can't be worse than that can it? Can you get up and walk around? ---you should be able to walk around immediately following surgery. In fact, they encourage you to walk to try and expel some of the gas they fill you with. That was the only complaint I had, the gas pain/pressure. I would take some liquid Tylenol right before bed and it helped a little with the pain sensation. AFter about 5-6 days I was fine.

How often do you check your progress?
cissy replied to sleepyjean's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I weigh each morning, log the weight on each Sunday, and measure once a month on the day I got banded (the 14th of each month) -
Yes, it counts! Good job!!

I'm an emotional non-eater. I'd say over the last 5 years or so, up until last year when I finally decided to do something about my weight, my husband has put me through a TREMENDOUS amount of stress. (another whole story) During that time I didn't want to eat because I was thinking too much about what had happened, was it my fault, was it his fault, yes it was his fault but why did he blame me, etc. Whenever I came to some sort of reasonable conclusion in my mind, I'd start eating again. I was never a binge eater, I just always made the wrong choices, fast food, fried foods, lots of sodas, etc.

I have no problems with cereal. I eat raisin bran about 3-4 times per week for breakfast. Helps to get the fiber you need.
-
Definitely! I would do it again if I needed to. I have lost 41 lbs in just 4 months. Prior to banding, I gained about 15 lbs per year since being diagnosed with PCOS in 2001.
