Just Ran My First 1/2 Marathon.

CONGRATS!!! You are a total inspiration to me. I just got banded Feb. 15th and have lost about 16 pounds. One of my goals is to do a marathon. I've done a 5K so far so am working my way up toward a 10K, then a half-thon and finally the big bang. I just wanted to congratulate you - I liked reading your personal account. And those 121 pounds lost - AWESOME!!! It's all just what I needed to read right now.

    Newbie Vocab Lesson

I'm a newbie :-) What does "PB" stand for and what is "Sliming"?

    Burning Stomach

I've been banded for about 2.5 weeks now and am following the diet to a tee. My stomach just hasn't been right though. No sharp pain. But it feels like it's on fire/bloated/upset stomach/discomfort. It doesn't seem to depend on what I eat. I'm on extra acid reflux medication. Any thoughts!?!

  7. Can Someone Please Tell Me How To Change My Username?
  8. I got banded on Jan 15th (yeah!!) and I've found that I've been having a lot of stomach problems. It might be acid reflux so my doctor has me on Nexium and some stuff to drink to help with ulcers. I was just wondering how you all felt the 1st few weeks after being banded? It's like I have this discomfort in my stomach or feel sick to my stomach most of the day. Thanks!

    Bread?

I haven't been banded yet - am schedule for Jan. 15th! I've heard mixed things in books I've read on foods that are tolerable. Can you still eat bread or steak (of course small bites, well chewed) after you've been banded?

Anyone pick up the book "Fighting the Weight"??

Just finished the book tonight :-) I went out and bought it the day I got my surgery date set (January 15th...just about one month away!). It's a great book!

    Question About SWEETS.

Thanks, guys! This makes me feel a lot better. Plus, I love cheesecake so that is an interesting thought. I guess it is higher in protein then other cakes and such. And I like those 100 calorie packs. So I am glad to hear that you can still eat those. Happy holidays!!

    The Realize Band??

The FDA has approved the Realize Band and I am wondering what the difference is between this and the LAP Band?

Oprah on Friday -WLS cross addiction

I watched the show today and called my mom and was like, "I hope I won't become a sex addict!" I was joking around w/ her since I knew she was watching the show, too. I think everyone who struggles with something is somewhat addicted. But I think some people choose to transfer their thoughts to other things, and sometimes it's positive and sometimes it's negative. I am sort of afraid that I'll shop a lot b/c I'll just be so excited to be getting new clothes. But as long as I keep it in check I'm sure it'll be fine :-) But the point of the show wasn't against WLS, but more so advocating that it's as much a mental journey as physical. And if there are deep rooted issues as to why you are overweight or enjoy food, the WLS won't be a magic pill. But I guess u just won't know until u go thru the WLS journey. Instead of waking up being excited about eating, I'll have to start thinking about something new. Maybe I'll just transfer my addiction to being addicted to Oprah! :-) I get banded January 15th!

    Question About SWEETS.

I am going to be banded on January 15th and I can't wait!! I am just worried about the 'sweets' thing. I do not eat sweets often, but if I do it's a piece of dark chocolate (70-80 percent cocoa) or some frozen yogurt. I don't want to sabotage my success b/c of my sweet tooth, but I also don't want to feel denied. I was wondering if any of you guys had the same fear before getting banded, and if so, how has life been post operation? Thanks!
