    Questions for Alcohol Drinkers ONLY!

I find that insulting a person never helps them to learn from their mistakes. Good for you for apologizing for that error. Sent from my SM-N910P using the BariatricPal App
  3. The weirdest issues I had during the pre-op phase was I broke out into a full body rash. I think it was like my body detox from not having all that processed sugary, fattening foods sent my body into some sort of shock. My skin was super dry. I had to switch body soaps because of it. To this day I have to use a cocoa butter based body wash to help keep my skin from drying out and rashing up again like it did durning pre/post-operation. Guys, what do you consider your ideal pants size ?

Last post on this thread was Nov 19th. I was in a 42 waist. Now February 28th, I can proudly proclaim I'm in a 38 waist. Down from a 58 waist just 20 months ago. Almost two feet off my frame gone. I feel damn proud of that. I think I'm gonna finally end up between a 34/36. And I'll be more than okay with that. I'm in the size where I can now virtually shop for clothing anywhere I want too. I'm no longer just forced into Big and Tall stores for clothing anymore. 5. Yup hand, feet, legs all of that gets super cold easily now. I went from not minding fall/winter to now totally hating these seasons when they come around. And I'm a February baby too. I know what has helped me with my overall body temp has been to wear layers of clothing. I'm almost always in my compression clothes (pants and at least two compression tops). The tightness of the compression clothing helps with keep my body temps up so I don't feel "as cold" as I do without them on. I guess this is become the compression gear helps with blood circulation in those areas. And it also helps from the whole chaffing from the loose wobbly skin in certain areas too. For the hands I would look into mittens and/or gloves for now. But I work in front of a computer all day so mittens are a no go for me. But sometimes I do put my hands on my very warm computer tower every now and then to get them heated up when they feel like ice bricks.

    Multi-Vitamins

There are a ton of different options for Vitamins out there. I know for me the gummies seem to work okay and I was on them from week one on. I think the first 90/120 days I was taking half of the recommended dosage (1 gummy per day instead of 2). Now I take anywhere from 1 normal dosage up to 2 ( 2 gummies in the am and then 2 in the pm). I have gone back and forth between Men's One a Day, and Vita fusion Men's complete Multivitamin gummies. The Vita Fusion's tend to taste a bit more sweeter to me, which is due I think to the fact that they have a sugary coating on them. They are also my emergency go to vitamins whenever I forget to take my One A Days. I initially was looking at the brands that my surgeon carries in his office, but decided against them when it just came down to cost.
  7. Thanks for telling your cautionary tell. Its should be a good reminder for those that haven't embark on this journey yet that if you can't get through the pre-op diet then your gonna be in for a world of difficulty come post op. Further more your rate of success is going to greatly decrease. If you want the results of weight loss surgery and limits you chances for issues afterwards then follow the plan? It sucks, but its there for very good reasons. I had no issues with the pre-op diet after the first 48 hours past I was good. And I did no Protein shakes at all. It was all sugar free Jello and beef/chicken broths for 10 days. Till this day I can't stomach Jello at all. Sent from my SM-N910P using the BariatricPal App

    African American vsgers!

Yeah when I was there I had to get like three bags of fluids to help get my vision back for starters. At that time they though that I might had gotten a leak from the surgery. So I had to get my tummy scooped. What they believe actually happened was I had a very bad sinus infection and all the nasal drainage that wasn't getting blown out of my nose was going down my throat and into the pouch. That was causing all sorts of bloating and gass issues. The first 8 weeks to 12 weeks for me were not fun at all. I didn't feel right again with food until 8 months out, and my memory didn't fully return to normal till about 10/11 months out. Sent from my SM-N910P using the BariatricPal App
  9. As I'm continuing my new life journey of clothes shopping at non-big and tall stores. Found a nice J. Ferrer and Calvin Klein shirts I could wear. So I brought them. Sent from my SM-N910P using the BariatricPal App

    African American vsgers!

If you are vomiting and dizzy chances are you're very dehydrated. You may need to get to a hospital for fluids. Prolonged periods of this can cause comprehension and memory issues. (Learned this the hard way). You should indeed contact your surgeon office ASAP about the constant puking. You could have a blockage issues and or your incisions have not healed properly. Which can lead to a whole world of problems you really don't want to deal with. Sent from my SM-N910P using the BariatricPal App

    African American vsgers!

It happens to the best of us. So don't sweat it too hard. What I would probably suggest doing if you can, increase your walking time and distance. If you're getting in 30 minutes of walking a day try to increase it by 15 minutes. If you walk about a mile now, start working towards reaching 2 miles in the same time frame. And then 6 to 8 weeks after that another 15 minutes, and another 1/2 mile. Also if you have access to a gym, an elliptical and stair climber will become very useful cardiovascular tools in burning calories and overall weight. They also add just enough change up to your routine that you can sorta trick the body's plateau affect, which should help reduce the stall's time. Sent from my SM-N910P using the BariatricPal App

    A new progress picture

In due time my friend. You will get there in due time and you will enjoy it. To be able to buy 4 and 5 pairs of pants for about the same amount of money that would usually get you only a single pair out of the big and tall stores.

    A new progress picture

So tonight I stopped by my local Walmart after work. I wanted to pick up a few food items, a new tooth brush, and some jeans. Yes I wanted a pair of non-big and tall, not gonna cost me $60/70/80/90/100+ a pair jeans. So I found some jeans. $10 jeans, and $15 jeans. So I brought those jeans. Like 5 pairs of jeans. What I would normally pay for a single pair of jeans a few short years ago, can now get me at least 5 pairs now. This picture shows my 18 month progress from a few months before I started my pre-surgery diet to tonight. Bottom pair are a 56 waist 34 lenght pair of pants. Those were my pants before the surgery. They were also starting to get real tight to put on when I finally agreed to go through with surgery. The middle pair. Those are a 44 waist 34 lenght. I started wearing these around this past July. They were the first non-big and tall store only pair of pants I got. This was about 7/8 months post surgery too. Now we are here. The new pair. The pair that tells me I no longer have a four foot wide waist anymore. The pair that says I can now walk into any store I want to and can more than likely get a pair of pants that fit. That feeling is a really damn good feeling. Its not as good as smoke a great fucking grade of weed, but damn it its real real close to that feeling. Well thats it. I just wanted to share my non-scale scaled victory of the moment for me.
  14. Sure I would love to hear about what you do as far as resistance and weight training. As I'm slowly starting to get back into it now. I want to try to get maximum benefits from lifting weights and resistance training while totally trying to avoid injuries. My best friend is a heavy weight lifter/body builder and he tore his rotator cuff one time. It took him almost a year to recover from that single injury. A compliment I am humbled to hear, thank you very much! Now, as a recovering shoulder surgery patient I want to go on record right now and say this, I never do bench presses. Ever. While they are good for the pectorals, they are terrible for the shoulder (rotator cuff especially), and there are much better exercises for the chest! Also, I don't do heavy weights at all. The biggest dumbell I use is 35lbs.Tops.If I need more weight, I switch to bands or bodyweight exercises. I am terrified of another sport injury. That's where many of my troubles came from. If you want a good chest workout, you need to focus on the cable machine and only use the dumbbells for incline chest press and regular chest press. Using dumbbells allow for your shoulder to move naturally as opposed to locking it into an unnatural position. If you would be interested, I could write down my exercise routine (roughly) and start a thread. I make no claims of being a fitness guru nor a therapist, but what I do I got from my physical therapist and then from a sports medicine therapist I found online.
  15. My issue appears to be resolved now. I can once again log into the app on my phone. Thank you for your help.

    Advice for a newbie

I echo everything that Jane13 said below. If you have made the decision to have the procedure to regain control over your weight, then you are already well on your way. And the fact that you are very young means that their maybe less chances of you developing any complications post surgery as long as you follow your surgeon's plan of action for you. Good luck to you on your weight loss journey.

    A new progress picture

For the first time ever I am literally happy going shopping for clothing. I use to dread doing this cause it was either a reminder of gaining weight, or me having to spend so much on clothes that weren't necessarily cool or the "in" trend at the time. I swear this has also helped restore a lot of my confidence that I had lost over the last 12 months or so. With the troubles from the surgery its finally good to see some real true progress that's tangible. To look in the closet and see where I came from to where I am now....very eye opening experience to say the least.
  20. I just updated the app on my Android smart phone last night. And its not allowing me to log in. It says that it can't find my account or password, which isn't true cause I am able to log into my account on my computer using the same account and password. Any help to get this resolved would be wonderful. I usually upload all my pictures to this site from my phone.

    Vita fusion gummy chewable?

I was on Men's 1 a day gummies for the first 9 months or so following surgery and this was about 4 weeks after the surgery. I was on a prescription multi Vitamin pill from my doctor cause my B levels got so terribly low. I switched over to vita-fusion gummies about three months ago. They were alright, Understand that you have to take double the dosage vs the one a days. With the vitafusion you have to have two gummies per serving in order to get the full benefit of them.

    Before and After Pics

Wow you look fantastic. Excellent job to get down to your current weight in 12 months no less.
  23. Tried on a pair of American Eagle jeans today. 38 waist 36 lenght cause I'm tall. They fit. Have not worn a 38 anything in over 20+ years.
  24. I lost about 63lbs within the first 4 months post surgery. I was barely getting 1200 calories a day at that time and walking like crazy. That was about 14.5lbs a month which 3lbs a week give or take.
