***Update*** Im pregnant due July 2016**** I've decided to have WLS. I still need to determine which surgery specifically. Let me tell you about me. Today I weighed in at 297. That's actually better than I have been. The most I've weighed in at is 302. :( I've had weight issues my entire life but most recently the doctors discovered I have a thyroid problem. It was so bad that I basically had no metabolism. Once they discover a thyroid problem they put you on medication but they have to start you at the lowest dosage. I've been taking medication for over a year and my thryoid is still not with in normal range. It takes forever to get it fixed! However by taking the medication my energy levels have gone up alot. Besides having thyroid problems I also have PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome). Which also makes it difficult to lose weight. My body has problems digesting sugar. It basically craves sugar, doesnt digest it properly so it thinks it needs sugar and I end up craving sugar all the time. Having the thyroid problem and PCOS aided in my weight gain and by having too much estrogen aka fat on my body I also was diognosed with uterine cancer. My cancer is on the lining of the uterus. Thankfully they caught it early! And I'm on hormone treatment rather than chemo or radiation therapy. But the pills I have to take also aide in weight gain. They sometimes give cancer patients that are too thin 1 pill of this a day to help them gain weight. I take that pill 4 x daily. So I've gained alot of weight since being on that pill. With all this going on I was in remission for about 6 months. In that time I started to go to a fertility Dr to aide in getting pregnant since taking Clomid did nothing. The fertility Dr told me that the best thing for me to do is have weight loss surgery. For several reasons. 1 ) losing weight is simply better in general, 2) losing weight will give me better odds of the cancer not returning. 3) losing weight will increase my chances of having my fertility come back on its own. 4) My dr suggested wls because most likely it would be completely covered by my insurance whereas fertility treatments are not covered and there is no guarantee it would work because of all my other issues. So here I am today. Many judge because they do not understand my situation. And that's fine, think what you want. I've tried Jenny Craig and I lost 40lbs but I've gained it all back and more. I've worked out and had no results. I'm done, I'm tired, I want energy, I want my life back. And this seems like the best option for me. I plan on blogging my adventure.
Check out my link in my profile for my blog.
