If it's whitish yellow. Kind of velvety. It could be thrush. I got it post op. If you can have yogurt that helps and I also rinsed with diluted hydrogen peroxide a couple times for a few days and then it went away.

Time off post op
Justajenn replied to theskinnyone's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery on a Friday and returned back to work on Wednesday. I'm a RN a work 12+ hour shifts in a hospital. Did two in a row and the girls I work with were great and did any lifting that was needed for me. No problem at all. -
I had my surgery on jan 23rd and joined the gym 1 week post op. I did it to walk on the treadmill to get my steps in because it was to fans cold outside and every time I tried walking at the mall I ended up shopping. Lol. The beginning was very easy going but now I've up the game so I fast walk on an incline. I do it for an hour about 6 days a week. I'm not allowed anything more until the two month mark when I can start crunches.

Should I be concerned with problems at week 5
Justajenn replied to Christi6972's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm a little behind you at four and a half weeks and have had issues with constipation since the start. When I go longer than four or five days I get really nauseous. Not fun at all. It continues to be a battle. I tried miralax and couldn't choke it down. Tried smooth move tea and was up all night cramping with no results. Now I'm up to colace twice a day and then every few days I take milk of mag. Probably not a good long term solution but it works for now. -
Non-Morphine Pain Meds....concerns
Justajenn replied to Mrs. Reid's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
No narcotics for me. In the hospital they gave IV toradol (just a NSAID) and was sent home with sublingual version. I just took Tylenol though and that covered any discomfort I had. I really didn't have any pain just super tired. -
Cheated every day of 7 day pre op diet
Justajenn replied to BeautifullyCreated1982's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The preop was very hard in the beginning. I think it was the hardest part of the whole process for me. I did 23 days of it. Uugh! After doing the first 3 or 4 days my body became used to it and I didn't feel like I was dying from hunger and the headaches stopped. At that point it was no big deal. My head would definitely scream for other things especially at work when we are all in the cafeteria and I'm with people inhaling yummy stuff while I drank my shake. But did it, didn't cheat and moved on to the next step. Definitely super hard though! -
This is my huge issue too. I'm taking colace twice a day and thinking of moving to three times a day. Gets pretty miserable. I tried the smooth move tea and only had half a cup and was all night cramping so bad with no results. So sucked!

Are you diabetic or prediabetic? A dark line on your neck are an indicator. It's called Acanthosis nigricans. I used to get it when my sugars were elevated and it would clear up after awhile of being normal. There are other causes too including hereditary. Just a tidbit for you

It could be a fungal issue. With the loose skin maybe it's just not getting the breathing room. Maybe try an anti fungal powder to treat and keep it dry? If you call your dr they can peak at it. Nystatin powder is a good one we use in the hospital.

I had the surgery on a Friday and was back to work on Wednesday. I'm a RN in the hospital and work 13 hours. The girls I worked with did my lifting for me and it all went good. The first day was a breeze but the next day I woke up and felt like a did a bazillion crunches. I was a bit more tired that shift but made it through fine.

Vitamins make me gag!
Justajenn replied to peacharoni's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been taking them whole. I tried opening them and putting them in yogurt and I couldn't stand it. I did chewables for maybe three days and then switched to my normal. Can't do the chewin on chalk thing. I just don't take them all at once. I take a my small ones (biotin, colace, regular) when I wake up. Take a shower the do my PPI then with breakfast my multivitamin and probiotic. -
Encouragement needed struggling
Justajenn replied to svelija's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I so understand!!! I just moved onto purée yesterday! When I was in need for some major flavor and frustrated I would go to the deli and get their soup. Loaded baked potato or aged cheddar and broccoli were my favorite. I would throw them in my vitamix with protein powder and a little almond milk to keep it thinner and it was so good!! -
Oh and was so happy I packed my heating pad. I used it on my tummy for the first week.

No catheter for me either. Woke up when they transferred me to my bed and got up and went potty. The surgery really isn't long at all.

Alka-seltzer gas and heartburn chews worked way better for me than gas-x strips. Oh and Chapstick felt so good when I woke up!

When did you feel normal again?
Justajenn replied to Jazmundo's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm a little over two weeks post op and feel good. I think I feel normal. Lol. My energy level is up and I almost feel antsy. Weird huh. I did 23 days of preop that consisted of three protein shakes and green veggies until the last ten days was just shakes. I think that helped prepare my body for the low intake after surgery. -
This may sound silly...
Justajenn replied to CountryGirl5584's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They gave me paper undies that were more like shorts. They went to my knees and I had to hold onto them when I up or they fell off. Switched into my yoga pants right after surgery. Much easier to walk the halls in. -
Weaning off caffeine...

Weaning off caffeine...
Justajenn replied to mclorrie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was a huge caffeine girl. Coffee in the am followed by a monster. That was my vice. I stopped two days before surgery cold turkey. Probably not the best plan because then I had horrible headaches. I'm 2 weeks post op now and feel good. I still love the smell of coffee and sniff my friends longingly. Lol. But it's all good. Small sacrifice. I'm allowed coffee 3 months out but I'm thinking why start again. -
How much walking can I do? 1 wk post-op
Justajenn replied to Dee951's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went back to work five days postop and do 13 hour shifts so that was a lot of my walking there. I found I felt better when I was up and moving. I'm only 2 weeks post op and it's been raining since I came home from surgery so on my days off I was going to mall and walking but then I wanted to shop. Lol. So a few days ago I joined the gym and have gone there everyday since and just do the treadmill. I tried the elliptical first because that used to be my favorite but I found that really bounces my belly and doesn't feel so good so I switched. I just make sure I hit minimum steps a day my NUT set in my plan. -
Ok I'm sure it's hormones but jeepers! Enough already! I read how postop it can mess with your period so I wasn't surprised when I started a couple days after surgery at the wrong times but I'm usually 3-4 days spotting and this is now a week and a half of spotting (sorry if TMI)! Plus my face is all blotchy! I'm so done with this crap! Ok venting is done now. Thanks for listening

I went and got my passport book. I needed one anyways and plan on celebrating hitting my goal with a cruise . When the medical van picks you up they drop you and your luggage off and you have to walk across the border. Both ways so pack light or have luggage on wheels. While you walk across they do a scan of the bus and then the bus picks you up on the other side. We stood around for a long time waiting for them to look at the scan and we crossed over into Mexico around midnight. They were very laid back on that side. I did have to show my passport on both sides of the border. I think everyone in my group had passports and we all showed them. I guess it depends on whatever person is working. I wouldn't take chances with it though. My center told me I had to have a passport or passport card.

I really like the lite progresso soups. I just strain then and add a scoop of unflavored protein powder it. Love the chicken Alfredo and creamy potato ones.

Has anyone tried the quest pasta?
