@@nerkerle, I had my sleeve on March 30th and I have a 2 year old & 15 year old daughters. While I was in the hospital, my sister took care of them because my boyfriend stayed with me in the hospital. The first two days I was home, I sent my little one to daycare. I wasn't strong enough to take care of her. She is very active. During the second week of recovery, my little one stayed home with me and I felt much, much better. I took 2 weeks off work and that was good enough for me. I am one of the few lucky ones. I have not had any complications, nausea of vomiting since surgery. I feel fantastic!

Did anyone else get a pill your supposed to take for first three months to protect the stomach?
MaryC94 replied to robertweisman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was prescribed Zantac twice a day for 1 month. -
Today is my 8th day post-op and I start the puree phase. I've been struggling with the liquids. I can't seem to drink an entire protein shake. I forget to drink throughout the day. I'm afraid of what I can and cannot eat during this phase. I have my follow-up this afternoon. I hope it's good news and they give me some tips on this process.

Gastric Sleeve 24 hours ago...? stomach/esophageal spasms
MaryC94 replied to simonla1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved yesterday too. Today I'm sipping on drinks and not really having problems. I did have a horrible day yesterday and early this morning but I'm doing better now. Every time I got up to walk, I would vomit. No one talks about the real awful stuff. I was to afraid to walk. The doctor told me this morning that they also fixed a small hernia I had. Well I hope we both feel better and recover as soon as possible. Here comes a new life. Best wishes. -
Hello March sleevers, it's official. I was sleeved this morning. I am so exhausted. These meds have me coming in and out sleep. Thank you for all the advice, support and encouragement.

@@JRfishes, thank you. I'm not going to give up. I have come too far to let this obstacle stop me. @@NewgirlfromMd, thanks. I have faith. I'm going to do lots of walking this weekend and if it's meant to be, it'll be. I'll continue to drink my water and shakes. Thank you all for the words of encouragement. My emotional episode has passed, now it's time for me to stay focused and let it be God's will, whether it happens on Monday or not, it will happen. xoxoxo

@@Chrystee, thank you for your encouragement. I pray I can lose these 5lbs. I've done everything asked of me. Although they want me to drink 5 shakes a day, I'm going to cut back to 3 or even 2. The sodium per shake is 220mg, which is a lot. @@Msnursekrystal, thanks! My workouts have consisted of nothing but cardio: Zumba, Elliptical, and Walking. As I said, I'm going to cut back on these shakes. @@LosingSomeLisa, it is so upsetting. I called my boyfriend crying how am I going to lose 5lbs by Monday morning. I wanted to give up, but I've come too far. It's not my fault I haven't lost more. I really hope he does my surgery and sees that I still have lost. I hope this setback of your doesn't take too long. I hope you can get your surgery schedule as soon as possible especially if it wasn't your fault. The insurance company should know better. You know they say patience is a virtue, so we must be very virtuous people.

@@heav85, Thank you. I've been working out but for these next 3 days I'm going to have to put in 2 hours at the gym and spend my days walking or biking, exercise as much as possible. I read you have to burn 3500 calories to lose 1lb. @@ladycook9713, I haven't eaten any food since March 15. For these 12 days, I have done nothing but drink Water and the shakes that the nutritionist gave me. These 5 shakes a day equal to 800 calories a day.
-
@@ladycook9713, I had to lose 15lbs and I only lost 7lbs. But what gets me even more upset is that my patient advocate didn't believe me when I told him I didn't cheat. He said I should have lost more weight. I have not cheated not even once and no one knows how hard this liquid diet has been for me, but I can honestly say that I am freakin' proud of myself that was strong enough to resist the temptation to cheat. I don't know what to do. This is all very discouraging.

Hello everyone, good luck to those getting their surgeries today. I am really disappointed. I went to do a weigh in today and didn't lose the required weight for surgery. My patient advocate told me I have to lose 5lbs by Monday morning or the doctor will cancel my surgery. I'm so very disappointed. I have done everything that was asked of me. I have not cheated on this stupid liquid diet and I have been working out. How am I suppose to lose 5lbs by Monday? Am I being set-up for failure? I feel so lost right now.

@@purrfctangel, it's going to ok. If your feeling like me, I'm a ball of emotions right now but we're going to fine. I have to do a final weigh in tomorrow. Let's see how many pounds I've lost since being on this liquid diet. We have 3 days and counting.

So I finally got the call. I am to report to the hospital on Monday at 5:30am. I can't believe that I'm only days away from this life changing event. Now it's time to get everything ready for my hospital stay. I can't forget my liquids and vitamins. So who all are getting their sleeve on March 30th and are you ready?

Question for the slow losers
MaryC94 replied to AuriP's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm not sure if I should be worried but I believe I am a slow loser. Granted I'm only on day 11 of the pre-op liquid diet but I haven't lost much. It's very disappointing watching the numbers on the scale. I think I may have lost 3lbs to 4lbs. So my question is when did you realize you were a slow loser, pre-op or post-op? Has exercise helped? -
I like my bariatric dr scale better than anyone else's lol
MaryC94 replied to kyrickchick64's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The whole scale thing is extremely frustrating. I'm on day 10 of the liquid pre-op diet and every scale I get on gives me a different number. I do a final weigh in on Friday before surgery and I hope I have lost more than 10 lbs, according to my doctor's scale. The gym scale, the doctor's scale and my home digital scale all differ by 4 to 5 lbs. I don't know which one gives an accurate reading. -
Good luck to everyone getting their sleeves today and this week. Wishing you all a speedy recovery. Today I begin day 8 of this pre-op liquid diet. It has been really challenging but I'm glad to say I have not cheated. In 7 days, it will be my turn, my second chance for a better life. Let's do this....

POLL: How true did you follow the pre-op liquid diet?
MaryC94 replied to TealSister's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I admire everyone's honesty. Thank you for keeping it real. I am on day 5 of my liquid diet and I must say that I am proud that I have not cheating. It's not to say that I haven't been tempted but nope, I resisted temptation. No cheating for me. I drink my 5 shakes a day along with my 60 oz of Water and nothing else. I am a scaredy cat so I'm following doctor's order 100%. -
Protein shakes and pre-opt diet
MaryC94 replied to Heybrendacleo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started my mandatory liquid diet on Monday. I have made it through 4 days successfully. It was hard the first couple of days. I am a little hungry at time, but I drink Water and the hunger goes away. I drink Optifast shakes, that were provided to me from the doctor's office. I have to drink 5 shakes a day. No meals, no food. Just shakes and water for me. Before I started the doctor's Protein shake, I was drinking Premier Protein Shake - vanilla flavored. I like those. I haven't tried any other ones yet. -
@@Lifeafter40, Good luck today. I will keep you in prayer.

@@purrfctangel, I'm March 30th too. It's been a little hard. I have not cheated on this liquid diet and I haven't been around food to be tempted. I stay in my office all day. When I get home, I take care of my baby and then go to sleep. I'm very tired too, but I have been going to my Zumba classes. I think it will be challenging on the weekend when everyone is home and they're going to be eating

@@LaLa Lady, I did my pre-op assessment yesterday and all I had done was blood work. It was weird. I didn't have to do a EKG or any other scan. I hear of so many people getting these thorough pre-op exams and I got only a questionnaire and blood work. Should I be worried?
-
Good luck to everyone having surgery today. I'm on day 3 of my pre-op diet. Everything is going well. When I'm hungry, I drink water and the hunger goes away. I'm afraid I'm not losing weight like I should be. Is it too early to tell? Maybe I'm being unreasonable?
-
Today is the official start of my liquid diet. I already drank 2 shakes, I got 3 more to go. I'm trying not to think about food. I'm drinking water to satisfy some of the hunger and keeping very busy. I'm not going to worry, I got this. WE ALL GOT THIS!!!

@@mariaelena, every surgeon is different but regardless I would follow the doctor's orders. Good luck!
