Pain gone after weird feeling...is this normal?
kjnunezz replied to suitechicguy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the same thing happen! Hallelujah, I wasn't crazy! At exactly week 4 (I had a terrible day the day prior) I was being careful getting ready in the morning then I bent down suddenly because I dropped my phone and then I heard like a snap or something with a slight pain and thought "oh great, another terrible day in store" but I ended up working a full day with zero pain... I don't know what it was other than it was a weird feeling and I hoped I didn't hurt myself too bad but it was a blessing. Since that day I've been pain free. -
Soreness around incision site and stomach 10 days post op?
kjnunezz replied to Heatherhere1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@Crafty - I was allowed to drive 2 weeks after surgery... But I cheated and drove to store a bit over a week after and totally regretted it as it knocked me out the entire day after I got home. What my doctor recommended was to buy a small portable massager and massage incision sites when laying down and that help break down the scar tissue (which is the reason for the pain). Hope advice helps! -
Soreness around incision site and stomach 10 days post op?
kjnunezz replied to Heatherhere1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It will get better. I had pain all throughout incisions sites when I stood, sat or walked too long which NO ONE had prepared me for and I'm not one to be weak... Exactly 4 weeks later (to the day) the pain just magically disappeared. So hang in there, rest when you're tired and know that it will go away (sooner rather than later). Good luck! -
I am freaked out! Is anyone else stressed about food after the surgery? I know that I will be able to eat soft foods 2 weeks after but i don't know how I am going to survive yet another 3 weeks of this liquid diet... i'm hoping once my stomach is turned into a pouch that hunger pains will be no longer an issue. Anyone having or had surgery at UCSF?

How are you? Still in mexico? -
And I can't take one more Protein shake! All I can think of is food... On day 13 of liquid diet and I only cheated once (which I felt super guilty) and was a HUGE mistake. If you are on your 2 week liquid only diet, don't cheat as it will make it so much harder to continue after and will trick your mind into thinking one bite or two a day until surgery is ok. If you are near the end of your diet how are you coping? I have to check into hospital at 6am on Friday and although I'm not ready for surgery I AM so ready for the hunger pangs to be gone.

Thank you all of your words of encouragement. I stuck by it and am now waiting for this night to be over so I can check into the hospital first thing tomorrow. -
Keep busy! That's how I'm getting my mind off food and surgery. Good luck! I'm 2 days away too, 1/16/15 can't come soon enough.

Thanks! I received these Bariwise fruit drinks that are amazing, especially the cran-grape, have 15 grams protein and are sugar free. I am so ready for surgery... 2 more night. -

OMG! I was born in Tijuana, no joke. I grew up in San Diego from the age of two and moved to San Francisco about 15 years ago... Enjoy San Diego, it's beautiful. Take a walk around seaport village, check out the amazing malls and walk on the beach, oh and don't miss the sunsets from Sunset Cliffs. Want to hear something crazy too? I just went to Alaska last year (on a cruise of course) and I thought it was beautiful and the people who live there so brave (for living there year round). Wow, shakes and a salad, I am so jealous. I'm on a 75 gram Protein liquid ONLY diet. It sucks but the 11 pounds I've dropped in 8 days is so worth it. Congrats and good luck. We both need strength, support and determination. WE CAN DO THIS! -

I am FREAKED out!!! What are you doing to calm down? I'm taking walks, deep breaths and the nerves are still there... What preop plan/diet are you on? Where in Mexico? I'm in San Francisco. -
Having surgery at UCSF soon. Anyone in San Francisco?

My diet consists of Atkin's shakes (15 gram Protein and 1 gram sugar), Premier Protein Shakes (30 gram protein) and lots of Water. I eat sugar free Jello and drink warm beef or chicken broth (and since i'm latina i add a squeeze of lemon and dash of sriracha to give it some flavor). Also, very important to add Fiber to your shakes or you will be in a world of pain. Your doctor/program is ok with coconut water and soup? I was told coconut water had too many carbs... I guess every doctor is different. I heard some people are only on a liquid diet for 3 days!!! Has anyone cheated on the 2 week liquid diet phase? -
Need to lose 10-15 pounds in two weeks. Any advice
kjnunezz replied to marbelvsg's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For all of you trying to lose weight prior to weigh in or when you need to for preop diet I recommend the Premium Protein, Atkins and EAS shakes. They are all high protein and most have 1-3 grams of sugar and super low carb. I am on my preop diet and have lost 10 pounds in 7 days. My doctor suggested 75 grams of protein, clear broths, 64oz of Water and as much exercise as i can handle. I've made a commitment to myself that I need to follow through and the easiest tool i found to keep track was the MyFitnessPal app. Good luck to you all.
