  1. Everyone is different in every way. I was up and waking to at least the bathroom the day if surgery. The second day I was walking the halls all day. Ask for some Zofran before you take your pain meds(hell even ask the doctors for some when released to take at home). Toradol helped me the most with the gas pains and overall. Take it in baby steps and work your way up, you got this!! Hope you get relief.
  2. I work in a computer room that is around 66 degrees. Before the surgery, i didnt need anything. I was fine and i would have to lower the thermostat at the house when i got home. Now, I keep raising it. I am always cold.
  3. Have them give you something for nausea with higher pain meds. Everyone reacts different to the pain. After the first day, my RN suggested that i try toradol between my pain meds. It is an antinflammatory that i was able to take every 6 hours. i do not know why it worked(not a DR), but everytime i was given it for some reason it help with the gas. Good luck with it. And like everyone said, walk. It does help. My doctor had to tell me to slow down.

    Frustrated!

Every doctor is different in what they let you eat after surgery and when. I was on a clear liquid for a week and then cream Soups etc the next. Don't push it. Are you really hungry or is it head hunger? I really had an issue with that the first week. I am not supposed to drink until about an hr after I eat. That way you do not end up pushing the food on through. As far as bowel movement, I really did not have one until I got off the pain meds, which thankfully I was able to do within a couple of days when I got home. But I was only on liquid. Your stomach is new and healing. Sip it slow. liquids for me was hard to get a full feeling. I would just male sure I got in the Oz that the doc wanted per hour. Take it slow
  5. Prayers for you and your wife.
  6. Follow your doctors orders. If you have any questions, be sure to ask. I was sleeved on Dec 19. My wife had hers done on the 26th. When talking with the doctor before her surgery, he asked how I was doing. I told him I was doing great and walking in the Neighborhood at least once a day. He said "what!!!". He told me that even though my head was telling I was fine, I still needed more time to heal. Guess I needed to ask, all the paper work that I was given said to "walk, walk, walk", so I did. I will be sure to check before more moving on.
  7. I too am taking the Flintstone chewables per my surgeon. They do not upset my stomach, but i always wait until i have had breakfast or at least a protien shake to take one. He has the women take the chewable with Iron.
  8. I had my gastric sleeve done on Dec 19th. I just went through this over the weekend. I did not force myself to throw it up, but it hurt like heck for a couple hours to get it down. My wife mentioned that she saw somewhere that around week 3/4 that the stomach is starting to heal fully and that some people can not eat as much as the week prior. Yesterday, i ate slowly monitored the portion size and i actually went down 2oz.

    Drain

I had mine done on 12/19/14 and my wife had hers on 12/26/14. Our surgeon does them on everyone. Just a way to drain the fuild that builds up after surgery and to keep an eye out for any signs of leaks or infection. Niether of us had a problem with the JP drain. Only nuisance to me was having to keep asking the nurse for a safety pin to keep it up for when i went walking or to the bathroom. It did not hurt coming out, but i prepared for it. Not sure the rules in the hospital that you are going to, but mine would not release you for an hour after receiving pain meds. Sooo, i timed it right and got some before they did all that. Also for the ride home, roads here are a bit bumpy. You will do great!!
  10. Wow. Things are changing sooooo fast. I know this can't go on forever, but I will eat it up as long as it last!! Last Sunday night I went to Walmart to get me a couple of cheap temporary pants. Went to goodwill, but the did not have any 30" in length. I started this journey wearing 48" waist. They were getting too big to belt up and they were literally falling off!! I was able go fit into 42" waist!!! Walking around with the family today, I noticed that these are now getting loose. It has only been week. Feels great!!!
  11. My Surgery was done on Dec 19th. Went to my 2 week follow up yesterday and i have lost 20 lbs!!! Got the OK to start walking more than i have been. New Year and a New Life, can not wait!!! Dealing with some mental hurdles, but that is all part of this journey.
