Pending approval, stressed waiting
marbelvsg replied to bvenegas's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my final consult with my surgeon yesterday and I am in the same boat as you. She told me not to worry because she doesn't think that there will be any problem with the insurance approving it. I think the doctors write things up in a way that helps make it easier to get insurance approval. -
Thank you all for your explanations! @@Pac-woman - I'm sorry that you are having such a difficult day. Keep your eye on the light at the end of the tunnel.

Starting to panic surgery February 2 and I can't find any protein powder I like
marbelvsg replied to jmccape's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Jay Robb's brand are the best I have had by far. You can order a sample pack on their website. There is none of that weird aftertaste. -
Congratulations! You should be very proud of yourself!

Help, please! Premier Protein shakes taste awful to me.. Need recommendations!
marbelvsg replied to blissfulbeing's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
The GNC Go Lean RTD shakes are good. I like the vanilla, chocolate and strawberry ones. You can add PB2 to the vanilla or chocolate ones too! As far as powders go, Jay Robb is my favorite. They taste good and have no artificial anything in them. (I am trying to get away from all artificial sweeteners.) They are sweetened with stevia. -
Surgery Tomorrow! Getting super nervous!

Good luck! Try to focus on the excitement and not on the nerves. -

Try Jay robb powders. They don't have anything artificial in them. They have been the best on my tummy. -
Yummy Protein Powders With No Artificial Sweeteners - I found one!
marbelvsg posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am in my pre-op stage and have been trying to find Protein powders that taste good and don't have any artificial sweeteners. A friend recommended the Jay Robb brand. They use Stevia, have very few ingredients and seem to be the least processed powders that I can find. They also derive their whey from cows that are not treated with the growth hormones. I ordered a sample pack from their website to try. I am the pickiest eater you will find and I don't like almond milk, coconut milk, or rice milk, and I am allergic to soy. I have also found a new milk product. It is called Fairlife. It has more protein, less sugar and less carbs than regular milk. It is a bit pricier too. So far, I have tried mixing the Jay Robb vanilla into it (with a teaspoon of PB2), and I am trying the Jay Robb tropical dreamsicle flavor with it as I type this. The vanilla was good and the tropical dreamsicle is delicious. It tastes like a very mild orange creamsicle and has no aftertaste. Just thought I'd share. I have tried several of the popular brands and nothing has come close to this for me. I also love the fact that there are no artificial sweeteners. I really don't want those in my system. -
Need to lose 10-15 pounds in two weeks. Any advice
marbelvsg posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello, I have my final meeting with my nutritionist on January 19 and then meet with my surgeon again on January 20. Unfortunately I have recently gained about ten pounds. It happened very quickly, during the last month. Part of this was due to overeating at the Holidays and part of it is because I have been on prednisone for a pinched nerve. If I don't lose the weight, they will not go forward with the surgery. Starting today, I will do Protein shakes. Can I please have advice on how many a day, whether I should eat anything else at all, etc. Is my goal even feasible? -
Surgery is in March - 42 yo Female --right at 200lbs to lose -- looking for buddy
marbelvsg replied to newtree's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am going to see my surgeon this week and should be getting a date then. Their estimate for my surgery is some time between the end of February and the middle of March. Let's be buddies! -
Hello! I should be getting sleeved by mid-March. I am excited and nervous. Can some of you please share two things with me: 1. What (if any) complications did you have and were they remedied? 2. Any NSV's you have had and about how long into the process you had them?

You wouldn't be prescribed antibiotics for the flu. They are prescribed for infections. The flu is a virus. Just rest and feel better!

I have not had my surgery yet. I am in the pre-op phase. However, years ago I lost 60 pounds just by cutting out artificial sweeteners. They do hinder your ability to lose weight. There is a medical explanation for it but I cannot remember it. So now I have been trying to find flavored Protein powders that do not have any artificial sweeteners. I found the Jay Robb brand and the Syntrax nectar Naturals which both use stevia. I ordered sample packs of both. So far I have tried the Jay Robb vanilla powder mixed with skim milk and some powdered Peanut Butter. It was good.

Would you like to be on The View with Rosie O'Donnel ?

Thank you. I am in my pre-op stage and also love The View! -
For those of you who don't know your date...
marbelvsg replied to JenSul's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm hoping for the end of February / the beginning of March. -
I was told not at all because caffeine can dehydrate you and getting all of your liquids in can be hard for some. I am waiting for approval and a surgery date. I feel mentally ready for everything I will have to do, except for this. I am a coffee lover so this will be the hardest par for me!

My nutritionist told me that just losing weight will shrink your liver.

Why Did You Choose Your Specific Type of Weight Loss Surgery?
marbelvsg replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I chose the sleeve because I did not feel comfortable with having my insides rerouted (bypass) or with having a foreign object (band) remain inside of me. I was leaning towards the sleeve on my own, but solidified that decision when my surgeon said that she recommended that procedure for me as well! -
Sorry - I meant Vitamix, not vitamin!
-
I watched tons of videos and reviews. I watched the one from America's test kitchen and the vitamin and a Breville one came out on top. I bought the Breville because it much cheaper than the vitamin (although still pricey). It has been great!

How did you feel after EDG?
marbelvsg replied to Vad1988's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine lasted 15 minutes. They gave me Propofol, not general anesthesia. Once the procedure was over it took me about 15 minutes to feel like myself and then I was able to leave the hospital. They did tell me not to drive for 12 hours. When I got home I slept for about an hour and was then fine. -
Could it be that your time of month is coming and that you are retaining water? Also, I would check the sodium content in the soup. If it is high, that could be causing water retention as well

Any teachers out there? Mixed emotions!
marbelvsg replied to mchap25's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm a teacher as well. I put in for two weeks off under FMLA. I will get paid but they will deduct sick days. I think it's well worth it. I had thought about waiting until the summer, but I figure that I can be well on my journey to a healthier me by then! -
