I am almost done with my six-month medical supervised weight loss plan with my PCP and if approved having surgery with Dr. Kurt Sprunger. Has anyone else used him? Has anyone had their surgery at St. Luke's hospital in Phoenix?

@highsesertmoon, I'm right after you at 10:30;) -
I go 3/3!! This liquid diet is killing me. I have no energy. I spent 5 hours at the hospital doing pre op testing today, so glad that's over.

Day 1 of my 2 week pre-op liquid diet
StephanieM posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Today starts the first day of my two-week preop liquid diet. I can only have four protein shakes per day and can only use bariatric advantage. Bariatric advantage protein is so gross! I am gagging it down. This afternoon I got the worst headache and felt nauseous. How my going to do this for two weeks? When does this get easier? -

Mar 3 surgery date!
StephanieM replied to highdesertblue's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My experience is kind of a long story. I started off with a different surgeon and completed all of my requirements. My other surgeon is the one that submitted my request to my insurance, my insurance approved it and then I switched to Dr. Juarez. I had to resubmit to my insurance through Dr. Juarez, so I'm now I am waiting for my approval again. My insurance said it should only take a couple days because I was just approved. As soon as I get my approval I am hoping for a surgery date as soon as possible. I'm attending the 202 class next week on Thursday. -

I am waiting for a surgery date from Dr. Juarez. Is there a reason why you're scheduled out to March 3 because I was under the impression he was only two weeks out? By the way congratulations! -
I believe he has privileges but he is not set up for surgery or have a surgery schedule yet. He also has a two page list of people before me cause he hasn't preformed surgery since October and I am not interested in waiting! You might be far enough out that it may not affect you;)

Thank you! Can't wait!

@@newbeginings85 let me know if you need any help with finding someone if you choose to switch doctors. I am seeing Dr Juarez on Monday and I already feel so much better with his office staff.

@@carolvalen I am changing my doctor to Sr Juarez. My other surgeons office is going through a transition and I am not interested in waiting for them to get their stuff together. How long did you have to wait to have your surgery after you were done completing all of your requirements? How long of a liquid diet were you required to be on before surgery?

@@newbeginings85 I wanted to keep you updated on my experience with Dr Sprunger. I am in the process of looking for a new surgeon. My concern is that his office employees have decreased to himself and Melissa who sits up front (she is awesome). He also is not current contracted to do surgery at any hospital. He is in the process of working with St Luke's but I am not interested in waiting for that. Overall I was really happy with him and his office but there seems to be too many problems lately and I am looking for things to come together now. I have already waited 7 months.

I just finished my six month, already had my psyc eval and seen the nut. I submitted my info to insurance on Monday and they have 14 business days to approve or deny me. The six months flew by. This waiting seems like the longest part.
-
I only met him at my initial visit. Monday his front desk girl Melissa submitted my paperwork into my insurance. My insurance has two weeks to respond whether they're going to cover my surgery or not. Everyone has been very nice so far. I will definitely keep you updated with how this experience goes with him.
