What the H*LL happened to you?!
allyray replied to RJ'S/beginning's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
RJ's I am having my surgery done in Bathurst by Dr. Marc Savoie. Just waiting for my surgery date. I had a referral in with Dr. Beausoliel as well, but his wait time is 2 more years..I was referred in 2009 so I decided the extra drive was worth getting it done so much sooner. Rj. I am from Sussex, so not thst far away! In our area, there are very few people who have WLS that I know of. So I am very apprehensive about telling people about my upcoming surgery, for the very reason of running into situations like the one you wrote about. It's a shame really!! -
I'm finding myself increasingly cranky the last week or so and I haven't even started my 14 day boost diet. Anyone else find this happening to them? Please tell me it's nerves??

How did your weight loss affect your marriage/relationship?
allyray replied to majorsmama's topic in The Gals' Room
Today, I could pick up and leave, but this is a rare day. Fighting the anxiety thst comes along with my eldest son graduating and heading off to university and all the emotions that come with that and my darling hisband wondering what the big deal is.. That coupled with my upcoming surgery, has me wound right up! So ... Lol -
I'm worried about the same thing. I only ever got yeast infections before when I was pregnant and I KNOW beyond a shadow of a doubt that I am not pregnant. I wasn't aware that there were some issues with it. Let me know what you find out!

Keeping weight loss surgery a secret
allyray replied to mandyboo's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have chosen to only tell a few close friends and selected family members. My sons, who are 8, 16, and 17, know but I just found out tonight thsy then older boys have told their girlfriends. I am very upset with them for breaking my trust on this one, but they both have said that everyone will be asking once the weight starts to fall off. Plus, they are "in love" (gag) and they don't like to keep anything from them! Anyhow I'm worried now that they will tell their mothers, friends , etc... I kind of feel cheated! Kind of like when I was newly pregnant for our first son and I told one person, and it soon spread like wildfire. -
I can't wait to be able to post in here!!! (As I just had a freakin binge lunch!)!! I'm so mad at myself!

I asked my surgeon this past week this same question. He said that he would only take it out if there was previous trouble with my gall bladder or gall stones. So he's not taking mine out. Darn!

So my 8 year old son, who has such a caring heart, came up to me today and said," Mum, so you said your face might look a lot older after you lose weight? Well I you know there is this stuff in the stores called firming cream! Want me to get you some for after your surgery?" Lol. So cute!

Second at of preop diet...having big second thoughts about the whole thing!
allyray replied to Rosie77's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I haven't had my surgery yet but I was at my surgeons office yestersay and in the waiting room there were 2'patients there who were post op and they both agreed that the 2 week preop was the hardest part of their whole journey. I also discussed the fact that the sleeve is so permanent and he said I have two options. Either have the surgery or stay as I am. For me, I don't want to, and CAN'T stay living this way, so that kind of solidified my decision to go ahead with my surgery. Kind of made it a black and white decision for me. Hope you have peace with whatever decision you make!! -
I have been in this situation before where and old "friend" wants to have lunch/coffee whatever, and even though it may be harmless, I always put myself in my husbands shoes. How would I feel if he went out to lunch/coffee with and old "friend". I would be so freakin jealous so I just have never let myself in that situation and neither has he. Good luck with your decision. That's just my 2 cents worth!!

@@alwaysvegas I am also concerned about the Water drinking situation. I tend to be a gulper..not sure why, but I'm also trying to sip my water now more just to get used to it. Do you find that you were thirsty post op? I am meeting with my surgeon tomorrow and will discuss this further with him... Thanks for your input!!!

I haven't had my surgery yet but not quenching my thirst is a concern for me. Let me know how you make out with that. I have stopped drinking with meals as well as 30 min before and after, but I have always been a huge Water drinker and this concerns me! Good luck and from what everyone says, it gets a lot better!

Hi. Not sleeved yet but just wondering if there are any long term sleevers out there that have regrets after 10-15 years post surgery?

Chose to tell another close friend...
allyray posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Tonight, a very dear friend of mine and her hubby came to visit us and I don't see her very often, so I chose to tell her about my upcoming surgery. Needless to say she was shocked. She desperately tried to talk me out of it. Asked me if I would try one more time to go to weight watchers, go to the gym , etc... I told her thst I'm 45 years old and yes have had great success with all the programs, etc... But each time the weight came back on and more so the time is now to get something done. I came to a realization tonight that people are not so much angry with me for doing this, they are more just worried about the surgery, etc... I realize some will never understand "why" even though I try to do my best explaining so I really need to just not listen to them. -

Yes I definitely think it's a fear. But honestly I am having a super hard time getting any support from people, not that I've told many but the ones I have told, they know next to nothing about it so it's a very hard concept for them to grasp. Just gives me doubts etc... I really need to do this but wondering if lack of support makes it difficult during revovert -
I haven't had surgery yet but I friggin can't wait to not sweat this summer.
