I'm sure this has been ask Millions of times......
tealites replied to kr8160311's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi, things are going great for me, thanks for asking. Everything that I can cross for you I have, sending all positivity your way. Maybe you are experiencing acid reflux? Digestive discomfort?, nighttime heartburn, or your routine barium swallow study shows signs of a hernia? Some or all of these could cause your insurance to forego the requirements I think. Talk it over with your doctor. Lapland doesn't work for everyone, trust me. -

I am new here too. I also had band 2003, got the sleeve revision in October 2014. I also have BC of Florida and they paid no problem. They a re usually very good about conversion and revisions. I think it might have gone over quicker for you to have had it when the band came off but I admire your desire to try to do it on your own. From the time my doctor and I discussed the converting to sleeve until the surgery was approved and booked was two months due to the slippage and resulting hernia repair needing to be done. I am sure your physician and staff will construct a more than adequate approval request packet documenting the medical necessity. I wouldn't worry about that part. Let me tell you it was the best decision I ever made, things are smooth sailing at this point and they will be for you too! Good luck, wishing the best for you. -
Hey October sleevers, what are you eating?!

Hi, I am nine weeks out and I still start the day with either a protein shake (30 grams protein) so I am half way there for the day . Sometimes I eat a spinach shuffle or omelet with ham. Cottage cheese and fruit work well too, just remember to eat slow and stop when full. Other meals you will go through the endless buffets and pick out your favorite proteins first (fish, chicken, or turkey) they are very high usually 15 grams or better per 2-3 oz. If you are just not feeling hungry as the stomach is no longer producing as much Ghrelin (hunger hormone), eat what you can but keep a shake handy because your proteins are key. I am not a doctor and any advice is strictly from my own opinion and experiences. I love my dietician and have gotten quite an education, still learning new things everyday. Good luck! -
Band Out for 4 years / Considering Sleeve / Scared

Wow...I am new but can tell you only from my experience that it was the best decision ever. I too was having GERD issues and band slippage/ hernia issues. Eating is not as scary as you might think. I am finding no problems. If you follow the sleeve diet, don't cheat, the weight will melt off. You don't get the "stuck" feeling when you eat, the no drinking and eating is more crucial to stick to with this surgery as it is the shape of a banana, the food will literally flush right through you. Dumping takes on a whole new meaning especially when it comes to sweets and carbs. Be careful. I feel the same as I did before any of the surgeries, I just eat slower and in the correct proportions now. I go out to eat regularly, no problems ordering as I usually just order a warm plate and eat from my companion's plate or order a side dish or appetizer. Insurance approved band to sleeve within 2 weeks due to hernia repair. All my preop stuff was done 2 weeks after that, so I was on the table exactly one month from the time my Dr. and I met to discuss options. -
