I've been off grid for awhile. I was sleeved March 25, 2015 and I am down 125 lbs! Went from a size 24 to size 10...this was the best decision of my life! I moved from SE KS to Brooklyn, NY last month. I commute using mass transit which involves lots of walking and stairs. Could not have done it prior to surgery. Now it's a breeze.

I was sleeved in March. I have lost 99 lbs so far! It is so worth it.

Hang in there...it is so worth it! I've lost 50# since starting the prep diet! Surgery was March 25th...

Welcome!

@Iclemur welcome! Yes, that first shower was quite nice!

Thanks @@kimmeesue! I have meds but will try the ice chips.

Has anyone had issues with post-op nausea? I can't drink/eat much of anything without feeling immediately queezy with occasional dry heaves. Any suggestions?
-
@@Kathy812 Yes, I had surgery Wednesday but complications of pain and nausea kept me in the hospital until yesterday...feeling almost human today. My pre-op diet was more generous than others have described. According to the surgeon the size of my liver wasn't an issue during the procedure.

@@pansy63 Thanks!

Thanks everyone for the support! My prep diet is 10 days long and I can have low carb/high protein shakes (using Premier vanilla), fruit, light yogurt, fat free chicken/turkey/ham, plain low carb veggies, dill pickles, fat free cottage cheese, sf Popsicles and fudgecicles, sf pudding and jello. It hasn't been too bad and I've lost 14 #s! Surgery is scheduled for Wednesday so only 3 more days! Getting excited...

So...tomorrow starts my pre-surgical diet and I am more than a little anxious about how I will handle this. So much of my activities are tied around food! I feel like I am saying good-by to a good friend... Any advice or words of encouragement would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome @@pansy63! I started this process last July and will finally have surgery on March 25th so self pay can go a lot faster. Keep us posted!

My understanding of this problem is two-fold. One is that our brains are wired to feel fat as we have always been fat. I am a physical therapist and when I teach someone how to correct their posture, it doesn't feel right to them until some time has passed where they have been able integrate that feeling. The other issue is psychological (I'm also a social worker) and seems to be ingrained in some people are obese. We may have gained weight because we didn't like or love ourselves; perhaps that is the issue we need to tackle in order to feel this again...

I'm March 25th as well! -
That's a good idea! I know sometimes they charge a 'plate fee' at higher end restaurants. Thanks for the tip LainieG!
-
That's one of my concerns. My husband and I will frequently include good food in our date nights. I imagine I will be sharing a bit of his meal instead of buying my own.

@@LainieG, Sorry for your loss...

@@LainieG Very happy for you! Hope March is the month!

@Queenofcrop I have very few pics of myself. I don't like looking at myself. Hopefully that will change... I got my prep diet. 10 days of low calorie, low sugar but not all liquid. Feeling good about that.

Thanks! @@SimplySue!

My surgery date is March 25! Can't wait!

Thanks @@Kathy812! What you say is true.

I have been approved! That's the good news... The other news (trying not to call it bad) is that my surgeon will be off during spring break which is when I have been saying, since June, I wanted to have it done. Wish she would have said something at the preliminary visit when I told her this. Trying to stay positive but I am disappointed. I teach which makes things hard. I don't want to wait until May.
