Hi all, Congrat's every one is doing so great. I was banded on the 16th and am doing good. I'm loosing slowly but the centimetres are coming off. I am swimming in the mornings and trying to walk most afternoons when we don't have torrential rain. As for the subject of constipation Ouch! That's me. Even with taking Benefibre in my drinks. That's the only problem I have though. Saleel22

Hi Miss Vicki, I hope you aren't too old to have this done because I'm the same age and had it done on the 16th January. You will probably go through the same as the rest of us,excited, nervous, scared and then excited again. Read everything you can about the good and the bad that can happen. I can only go on my experience and I had no post op pain. I had some wind (gas) pain that really wasn't all that bad. I made sure I walked around the house the first couple of days even when I didn't feel like it and I think that helped a lot. Good luck on your decision. Saleel22

Hi Amber, You made the right choice for yourself. At a later date you might feel more comfortable having this surgery done. You are young and have a young family so I bet you were also giving that a lot of thought. You wouldn't be human if you weren't thinking about all the what ifs. Good luck to you. We might see you on here at a later time. Saleel22

My body, my band, my BETRAYAL
saleel22 replied to MamaJava's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Krista, I was banded on the 16th Jan.08. I didn't have to do a pre op diet which I was glad about. I was on fluids for 2 weeks and have just started on purees. I have tried not to weigh myself as it can be discouraging when you see nothing happening. It gets the better of me though. I am walking and swimming and have only lost between 5 -6kgs. I have noticed by measuring though that I am loosing centimetres and my bras fit better. Have you tried taking your measurements you might be surprised. Keep your spirits up I'm sure good things will happen even for us slower loosers. Saleel22 (Australia) -
Beginning my journey!!
saleel22 replied to LadyRiddick's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi LadyRiddick, Good on you for taking these first steps. I think we have all felt the same as you. Nervous and excited at the same time. I know I was like that. I was banded on the 16th Jan 08 and am very glad. I didn't have any post op pain and have had 2 weeks of fluids and am now on the puree foods. So far so good. I only wish I had known about this op when I was in my 30's. Good luck to you. saleel22 (Australia) -

Hi Guys I have been off for a couple of days due to migraines. I have just read the post about Jen and feel sick. If any of you know where she is, it would be nice to get in touch with her so we can let her know we are thinking of her. I do hope she is ok. We have been PM'ing each other a lot as we were done a day apart. If anyone is able to contact her please tell her we are thinking of her. Saleel22

saleel22 replied to secretstolen's topic in Singles Forum
Hi Secretstolen, I'm glad every thing is workng out for you and your new friend. Sounds like you are very sensible and taking things slow. Good for you. I look forward to more updates in the future. You know engagements, weddings, family, lol. It is a bit like one of those commercials that continues as a story. Don't leave us in limbo. Best of luck. Saleel22 -

Nosy family members + my dating life = mortification
saleel22 replied to secretstolen's topic in Singles Forum
Hi Secretstolen, I am a Mum and a Grandmother and I would never have done what they did. I would have waited until he was finished exercising and then if the opportunity was there I would have just said hello I'm so and so's Mum. Your stepfather had no right to approach him especially if you aren't even close. Husbands and wives have secrets together but when you have specifically asked your Mum not to talk to your stepfather about some thing she should respect that. Hope you feel better now that you have let it out on here. Good luck with the guy. Saleel22 -
Hi Jen, That's great. you must be feeling better if you went shopping. I took my coverings off yesterday and the steri strips off today. My wounds look pretty good. I think they will heal very well, shame I have a great patchwork of other scars there though lol. Saleel22

Hi every one, I am also tired a lot. I got out of bed this morning and felt like I could have gone straight back again. It doesn't help that my husband and I are both late night owls either. I think our bodies just need some time to heal and anaesthetic can certainly take it out of you as well. Keep up the good work every one. Saleel22

Hi BensonRN, Good luck to you. If they ask for a weight in front of your family ask for a pen and write it down and hand it to them face down. They should then get the message that it is private. Saleel22

AmyMT, yes, yes, yes, you are very normal. I went to a seminar back in October 2007 and was excited about surgery. I then went from feeling excited to extremely nervous and anxious. That is something really unfamiliar to me. This kept up until the day before and then I just thought this is what I want -- relax. You will be fine. Take some deep breaths. I don't regret getting done last week. All the best to you. Saleel22

Hi every one, I was banded on Wednesday and came home from hospital yesterday. I felt awful, dizzy, nauseous and had a really bad headache. I worked out that it was the capadex pain killers that I took before I left the hospital so stopped taking them. After a really bad headache all night the fog has lifted and I now feel ok. I'm sip, sip, sipping on my fluids but I know I won't get through all of the ones the dietician wants me to have. I'm walking around the house but am very bored counting how many tiles I have. Thanks for all the good wishes. I will post more in the next couple of days. Saleel22

Hi Chuckles I hope something works out for you. I am supposed to be fully covered from my fund but my Dr charges $5,600 out of pocket. The anaesthetist is $500 out of pocket as well. I'm hoping there aren't any other surprises. Good luck with getting the finance to help you fund this op. Saleel22
