Hi Chris4815, I totally understand how you feel about keeping it a secret. I was banded on the 16th Jan.o8. Luckily my children live interstate. My husband is the only one that knows. I went to a BBQ when on liquid stage and just sipped a cold drink. I said I had a funny stomach and no-one asked anything else. My son was visiting when I was on the mushy stage and I said I had a funny stomach, nothing more was said. I am going to visit all of my kids soon but don't think I will tell them yet. I have lost 17kilos in 17 weeks. I can eat any thing so I really don't think I need to tell any one. I'm working my backside off exercising so that's what I will tell any one that asks me what I am doing. If you had another op.that was personal done you wouldn't be obliged to tell every one, so I don't think you should feel bad for not telling people you have been banded until you are ready. Good luck on your journey with the band. Don't drive yourself back home or to a motel after your op. All the best. saleel22

Hi Mamato3,I agree with everyone else here. 50lbs is excellent!! You should be so proud. I don't know what is wrong with your MIL but I sure hope I never say anything that cruel to my DIL. She probably needs to make you feel bad to make herself feel better. People like that have problems. It's not you. Keep up the great work. Saleel22

Whatssup? How is it going? Any updates?
saleel22 replied to gingerbug's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Gingerbug, most husbands don't notice things but he will have to notice that amount of weight off. I had 6mls already in my band and have had 2 fills and now have 7 1/2 mls. I feel like I could do with a tiny bit more but I am still losing and can eat anything with no problem. I like the fact that I can go to a BBQ or something and eat meat and no-one knows that I have been done. I hate the thought of PB'ing in public. Thank goodness I haven't done that either at home or out,(yet). Keep up the weights. You are doing great. Saleel -

saleel22 replied to gingerbug's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Gingerbug, I have lost 15kilos which I think converts to 33lbs in 15 weeks. I think I am a slow loser but am happy it is coming off. I am walking the dog and using the treadmill and sometimes the eliptical walker so it should be moving. It's good to see the scales going down for the first time in years. Feeling better than I have for years. Hope every one else is going great. Saleel22 -
Hi Sassygal, Every one has lots of anxiety before they have the Lap Band. I don't think you would be human not to. I was banded on the 16th January08. I have always been a slow loser with weight but I am so happy it is coming off. I seem to be losing a kilo a week. I can still eat almost any thing. I think you have to be positive about trying foods that aren't soft. My dietician wants me to have a variety. I still eat 3 maels a day and maybe a couple of snacks, somedays more than others. This is what they want me to do to keep metabolism working. You will find that you will start to do more with your kids and the more you do the more you will want to do. Exercise becomes easier and more enjoyable when you see that it is finally working in making you feel healthier and the weight starts to come off. Good luck with what you decide. You will find a lot of support on the forums. They were my life line before I was done. All the best. Saleel22

Josh you are looking fabulous. saleel22

Hi KatsenD. Some people are really rude. It sounds like your cousin is insecure about themself and has to put the focus on some one else-You. Good luck with your surgery. You won't regret having it done. (Especially when the weight starts to come off and they start to notice the difference). saleel22

I had a "nice" little visit to the ER tonight
saleel22 replied to jfran's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Jfran, that must have been very scary. Did the Dr say why that happened when it hasn't before? You wouldn't imagine eggs causing that much trouble. Glad you are ok now. Best of luck. Saleel22 -
As of today my wife and I are down 400lbs
saleel22 replied to Frank's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Frank & Debbie, WOW congratulations to you both. You have done so great. It must be good to have each other for support. You are both truelly inspirational. Good luck to you both. Saleel22 -
Hi Aus Girl, That's bad luck about your wound. I had dissolvable sutures in mine. I don't know why the nurse would tell you not to move unless you have to as this can cause clots which you don't need. Please call your Dr straight away if you haven't already and let them know what has happened. They will probably want to make sure you don't get an infection. Good luck, I hope every thing goes great from now on for you. Saleel22

Hi everyone, Jen has been home a couple of times just for a short period and then goes back to hospital where she is having physio. She is getting better slowly. Saleel22

Hi Nat36, I'm sure they will take your payment on Monday. What Dr's office is going to refuse that amount of money. All the best for your surgery. Saleel22

Hi Bandsternan,I totally understand how you feel. I was banded on the 16th Jan 08. The only one that knows is my husband. As yet I haven't told my children. I think like most people that have lost and gained weight for years I just want to make sure it is going to work. So far in the 7 weeks I have lost 10kilos which for me is good as I loose slowly. It is so much better than putting it on. Good luck on your journey. I'm sure you will find lots of support on the forums. Keep in touch with how you are doing. Saleel22

saleel22 replied to martha2's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Max, Good on you for having the band done. I only wish this had been available when I was a bit younger. I was done on the 16th January and am loosing weight slowly. I am happy that the weight is coming off though and not going on as it usually would before the op. Good luck on your journey. You will find every one on here very supportive.Best of luck to you. My son just had the surgery on Monday :)
saleel22 replied to martha2's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Martha, Good for you for being such a great support for your son. As far as the food smells go there really isn't much you can do. Maybe just don't sit in front of him eating something delicious while he is on clear fluids. If he sips at least 5omls fluids every 1/2 hour he should be able to stop the hunger pains a little. Is he on a protein type of drink as these usually help. I was banded on the 16th Jan.08 and found that sipping really did help. Good luck to your son. I can't see why he shouldn't have his own e-mail account on here. There is a lot of support for every one on here. Best to you both. Saleel22 -
Post Op Diet.... Please Help!
saleel22 replied to smilingsoph's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Smingsoph, Do you have a dietician that you can ring? Are you having optifast as this is very filling? I found that having to sip 50mls fluids every 30mins stopped me from being hungry. I am 6 weeks banded tomorrow and having my first fill on Friday. Good luck. Keep sipping and hopefully that might help you. Saleel22 -
Hi Sal, Hope every thing goes great for you. Walk plenty even around the house to keep the wind pains at bay. I was banded January 16th and so far so good. I get my first fill on Friday. Good luck.

telling people about surgery
saleel22 replied to nataliesnana's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Nataliesnana, Good luck for Monday. I'm sure you will be just fine. We all have gone through the horrible anxiety beforehand and know how you feel. I was very nervous beforehand and have now been banded for 5 weeks. You will be ok. Keep us up to date with how you are going. Saleel22 -
Hi Josh, I'm glad you are doing so well. I had to go through all the psych thing before and now after the lapband. I am glad you are now getting help with your feelings. You have lost heaps. I'm glad everyone around you is giving you such good support. I really enjoyed reading about your experiences. All the best. Saleel22

If we can't take NSAIDS, then what can we take?
saleel22 replied to rakes4321's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Guys, I regularly take Naprosyn for migraine. I have to take 3 when it starts and then 2 an hour later. I then can't take any more for 24hours. When this doesn't work I then have to take things like Nurofen tablets. The Nurse and Dr that did my banding both know this and they don't seem to have any problems with me taking these. I have never been told not to take any medications with the band. Hope every one is doing well. Saleel22:smile2:
